It appears you guys may have hit the nail on the head. The kid gloves are coming off and just in time too.
Kerry said that in criticizing his statements on Iraq, Bush was "living in a make-believe world," unwilling to tell the truth or to understand the situation in Iraq.
The Democrat said he had laid out "steps to win the war, not to change, not to retreat, steps to win. George Bush is trying to fight a phantom here because he won't tell the American people the truth, so he sets up something that's not a real issue and attacks it."<---(key statement right there IMHO)
Bush "missed a huge opportunity" at the United Nations (news - web sites) this week to try to persuade other nations' leaders to join the United States in Iraq and the broader anti-terror war, Kerry said.

More on the way. You are currently seeing Bushs' top game. Kerry is playing at his level. From everything I know about the people who are (excuse the pun) carrying Kerry, he is best suited to be an underdog.
Let the republican hate machine wear down the masses, then watch the Kerry folks come trotting out with intellingence, poise and answers. It shouldn't be so hard to beat Bush.
As a sidenote, I went to the State Fair yesterday and purchased political buttons from both parties...check out the Bumper Sticker I paid $2 for from the Republicans, there is no shame or respect to the families who are affected by this tragedy.. http://www.4wethepeople.com/ps004.jpg bizarre huh? Bush will exploit death and hatred to forward his agenda. Are we really that sick?

Chilling. Just bought the 9/11 Commision Report today. I didn't realize just how unprepared we were. The White House wasn't even notified anything was amiss until after the 1st plane hit. They had no idea a plan was coming for Washington.

I think instead of having a picture of the twin towers exploding, they should have a picture of Bush reading My Pet Goat. And instead of saying "Bush hasn't" it should say "I'm not really concerned with Bin Laden -Bush 2003".

You took that out of context. What he meant to say was he was a strong leader who goes after terrorism. Traitor.

The thing about that Bumper Sticker that is really shameful, I have a 5 year old with me and other children are swarming all over this Fair, this is what the Republican Party thinks is acceptable for Children to see. The worst mass murder this country has witnessed? The impact? WTF is that all about? I tried to shame them, pointed out the kids crawling around, jerks the whole lot of them.

They don't care. They think any sins they commit will be absolved if Bush wins.

In more ways than one - it is afterall, your taxes, your economy (which supporters and protestors alike all feed) etc that allows your nation to wage an illegal war, thus making every one of you a "terrorist supporter."

That bumper sticker made me sick to my stomach. It amazes and saddens me that Bush continues to use this tragedy for political gain. Why do you think that the RNC was held in New York. One good speech in the wake of a tragedy does not a great leader make. It is what has happened in the last three years that matters most.
What happened to him being a "uniter, not a divider?" The country truly had an opportunity to come together, but we have never been more divided. There is such hatred on both sides, which solves nothing. We need to stop attacking people's character and what happened decades ago (this goes for both sides). What is important is current leadership and policies.
The fact is, tactics that the Bush campaign are using are working. They are much more capable and shrewd when it comes to campaigning. I disagree that it will be easy to defeat Bush. The Republicans are brilliant at campaigning and have many faithful supporters. As scary as that is, it's the tuth. Most people do not see through these tactics and do not make an effort to active,y inform themselves on the issues. The sad truth is that these disgusting tactics of expoliting tragedy work.
God help us all.

Although literally true (Campaign literally meaning a series of operations to bring about a goal, its etymology being from the Italian for "field" - IE military conflict and all is fair in love and war) I'd say that it is like saying someone is a good debator because their method of knocking unconscious the opposition always guarantees a victory.
