How about trying to suggest something positive when you post something negative?
Have you seen the new videos? Seem pretty cool to me (?)
What did you want, a Beastie Boys tourbus cam? Adrock to do video diaries before each show? Photos of the three changing in between songs? You should know that that type of thing won't happen.
I think maybe you need to lower your expectations a bit. We have only done a few shows so far. We have like 30 to go.
We have time to do some cool things, and are working on them. But if you have a suggestion, suggest it, don't just bash it - anyone can do that.

Yes, it's too early to label it a failure and it's pretty weak to suggest so, IMO. What exactly were you expecting? Personal diary entries from Mike D, MCA and AdRock for each day they're on the road? The poor guys have lives outside of entertaining us. The amount of pics, etc. that have been put up for some of the earlier shows are incredible, but the people doing that can't be there for every show. The addition of the videos is great. This all takes a lot of work and time. Let's be grateful that it's being done at all, and if you think it can be better then offer positive suggestions to improve it rather than just start a negative thread.
That's my two cents.

suggestion for the tour blog...
What do the Boys do in individual cities while they are there??? Anything cool? I know sometimes shows are back to back nights, but often they have 2-3 days in between. Did they hit the beach somewhere in So. Cal or visit a club along the way somewhere, play some B-ball, rockin' new jams for their next CD? Something -

The tour blog so far seems fine to me. I got one question only about audio. will there be mp3's available? back in 1998 there were some real nice ones (rickys theme denver was sooo dope). Or is it to difficult with the legal stuff?

Videos are great!!!. It gave me the vibe before each show.
Suggestions would include some more commentary and some more video of the Beasties pre/post concert.
But so far so good...

Yeah, I was hoping for a little commentary from the band members. Not a daily journal or anything too involved, but this reminded me... one day I stumbled upon a blog/tour diary that Beck had put on the web and it was really fun to read.
But if they don't want to do that, it's their prerogative. They're already working hard to entertain us.
Just my two cents. I've enjoyed the content you've put up so far.

its not so much a tour blog as it is a tour forum, except without people posting. i think in the tour forum we should be able to post our own pics and comments, but each comment would have to be moderator approved. you can do that right, not have the post made public till its moderator approved? that would allow us to post setlists, our own photos, and our favorite parts and stuff.
right now i would say the tour blog IS weak. and the reason for that is a lack of planning. we are gonna try and do something different for it and have that done before the 2nd leg of the tour starts. so hopefully it will come out better than what it is like now. (y)

I have enjoyed the blog so far. But I do have 2 suggestions that come from my memories of keeping track of previous beastie boys tours via the site. On the Hello Nasty tour, they posted live mp3s of a few songs from a couple of stops along the way (the highlight of which was Get it Together w Q/Tip). The other cool thing I remember is the Boys would post their lists of purchases from record shops they visited in towns along the way. There were also some pics of them in disguise while shopping that were hilarious! I remember Mike D apologizing for buying CDs at one stop instead of vinyl. It was really cool to see what they were picking up. So if they are doing any crate-digging, give us the scoop!!
Peace

Wow, a lot of articulate people responded to this thread. I am torn because I think BBs should have their privacy (even on tour) but I also want to know what's happening.
Thanks Extra Cheese for bringing this up. And thanks to TPK for being open to suggestions.
The rest of you said it all - videos are an improvement, more written copy would make me happy, and frankly Beck does this stuff well.

the vids are a good idea, but not well executed.......it almost seems like they're making fun of the fans......mike d interviewin the little fat kid.....the dude hangin with his mom.......the duche bags askin for 'FFYR'......but the topper is the canadian kids.......they're just weeeeeeeeird.....so......show less of the fans and more of the boys.....like the mca tip thing........

Thanks (to the whole thread) for suggestions. Just one quick point. These vids (as explained in the blog) were not cut for this blog. They are used in the show. We just thought since we had 'em people on the boards who weren't at the shows might want to see what's going on at each city. Do you want to keep seeing them? If it's not what you want we don't have to post 'em.
I'll work on getting 3 live web cams set up to follow the boys around 24/7 so everyone can keep track of them any time of the night and day. stay tuned.

That's not a possibility right now, but if this changes, we certainly will. I'm working on the next best thing...

And on the defensive tip, how are the Canadian kids weirder than the American ones?? :o
I must admit that if you put a bunch of Minnesota kids in front of a camera they would behave just like the Canadian ones. Perhaps someone from the west coast could answer this one.

I'm happy to see that you guys are taking our suggestions seriously. Thanks.
Quick questions: Will the roving camera be at voodoo fest in New Orleans? Will their set be any different since this is a festival and not like the rest of the shows?

Thanks for all of the input!
TPK and I are making some serious changes right now, including:
Reformatting of all old content, plus some extra photos from previous shows.
Creation of a Blog page on the website, so it's no longer just accessible from the forums.
Feature to allow user comments.
More content for upcoming shows, including more photos you want to see, plus comments from the band etc. where possible.
We'll have this up and running in time for the next show.

The new Tour Blog (http://www.beastieboys.com/blog.php) is now up and running - thanks to a little hard work from TPK and myself over the past week or so.
Here's some of what we've done (and are doing) so far:
Created a dedicated page on the site which allows you to browse through the blog entries in chronological order.
Allowed user comments - you can now comment on blog entries.
Created thumbnails for all images.
More backstage photos and other things you wanted to see.
More band involvement with regard to content.
There are more improvements on the way, so keep an eye out!
