On the Beastie's LTI tour, the opening acts were Murphy's Law, Fishbone, and/or Public Enemy, depending what show you saw.

They came to Atlanta early in 1987 and the opening acts then were Murphy's Law and Fishbone. Later in the tour, a band dropped out and Public Enemy took their spot.

The Beasties SHOULD be honored, and if these honors are a yearly thing, they will be, but I would say that if they're picking bands based on their influence of hip-hop, PE had more of an effect on the rap world than the Beasties.

The Beasties influence in the hip-hop world has been big... but in some ways, their influence has been more pronounced with rock bands than with hip-hop.

VH-1 seems to show things over and over. Look for it on the weekend. I saw a list of all the times it was gonna air on this site. (BBoys.com). I'm not sure what section though. I printed it out but its at home and I'm at work.

Let me tell you, I was AT the VH1 awards...right next to the stage. The boys ran right passed me while performing when they came through the crowd (in fact, they stepped on my toes...Not that I minded, of course). The whole show was awesome. I'll definitely be watching tonight. I saw 'em again in concert last night in Philly....They never disappoint :D
