So, I've never been to a show at the Patriot Center in Fairfax before... what are the tailgating options like? Is it like other local venues (Nissan, Merriweather, etc.) where you can bring beer and as long as it's in a cup and you're at least 21 no one will bother you?

I've been to a lot of shows there and have never seen anyone tailgate.
But then again I live like 30 minutes from it so I don't go til after the doors open.

Well, I only live 10-15 minutes away, but I'd rather pre-party there and have a few hours before I have to drive, than drink at my house. Maybe I'll rethink that, and just cab it...

(From reading the other Patriot Center thread, it doesn't sound like there's good bar options close by.)

Why do people need to drink to have a good time at a concert? Is it so they can maul over people and ruin their night? I hate drunken frat boys at shows, they really suck.

There's a difference between having a couple of beers and enjoying yourself and getting wasted and not only making an ass out of yourself, but also ruining other people's time. It's called maturity....I plan on having a beer or two, but most mature people enjoy and remember the show better if you're not drunk. Frat boys do suck though.....

It's not a concert till someone spills/pukes beer on your shoes.

OK, I'm talking about having a couple beers and getting a nice buzz before the show. I'm not down with drinking and driving, so I'd rather drink there before the show, than at home before I drive there.

And as far as my getting drunk and unruly... hardly. I'd be more worried about getting knocked over by some 16 year-old punk in a wife-beater trying to crowd surf... :(

For the record... I'm not talking about anyone here. But, don't tell me you havnt gone to a concert and seen people get trampled or a girl get mauled because of drunken morons.

JS man... Just sayin.

Does the Pat Center even serve beer? If so, are you allowed to take it to your seat? I've been to a lot of concerts where it's very restricted.....

Last time I went there they had a section for beer. But that was like 5 years ago or some shit.

I found this on the Patriot Center site. I don't know how current it is. (Can't wait for tomorrow!)

The Patriot Center offers a wide variety of food and beverage offerings for the enjoyment of our guests. In addition to the traditional menu of hot dogs, sodas and popcorn, we offer Domino's Pizza, chicken tenders, nachos, gourmet soft pretzels, funnel cakes, cotton candy, bottled water, ice cream, french fries and coffee.

For selected events, we open the Patriot Pub restaurant on the East concourse. You will find hot dogs, pretzels, nachos and draft beer in the Pub. You must provide proof of age (21 or over) to be admitted into the Patriot Pub. Come on in and have a GREAT time!!

Just wondering if that means you have to drink the beer INSIDE the restaraunt???.....I have a hotel room reserved for that night (since I live about 25-30 miles away), but if there's only beer in the restaraunt, then I'll just have a couple of beers before and be fine to drive home after....don't want to waste the money on the hotel.....

You wouldn't be a homo unless you were a girl ;)

Ok...I just called the PC and they have a beer garden, but you cannot take it to your seat so maybe a hotel will not be necessary b/c there's no way I'm missing any of the concert to drink a stupid beer......

AS TEH PATRIOT CENTER IS ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS, I DO NOT RECOMMEND DRINKING IN THE PARKINGLOT.

THE PARKING LOTS AREN'T FUN ANYWAY

I am not familiar enough with GMU to know what the tailgating possibilites are; I don't know if it's a "dry campus"....although, the PC is kinda isolated from the central campus (it's on the border of the campus). Maybe 'little j' can call the Dean of Students today to ask if we are going to need to fight, for our right, to party!!!

Regarding the fun of the parking lot....well, times may have changed, but I used to LOVE hanging out or walking around mingling with other fans (although I've noticed the decline in tailgating over the years). The key here is that it's a partly-GA show, meaning there should be friendlies walking around or in line (or tailgating) for much of the afternoon [although classes will be in session, I believe...so I'm not sure how they do the parking lots in the afternoon]. I'll be there early (as I need to finalize my ticket situation - 1 extra Floor anybody?!). It'd be neat if we had some identifying factor where we could recognize fellow board members, but it's a lil late for that stuff. Instead, we can just go up to every single fan and say "are you from BeastieBoys.com? are YOU from BeastieBoys.com?"...heh heh!

Anyhow, I hope to see a lot of people there early, as well as people tailgating!!!

HMMMMMM I don't know about that. But the parking lot at the Patriot Center sounds as fun as getting my penis scraped for STDs.

I have the same question about tailgating myself... Has anyone figured out whether or not we can actually party in the lot? I guess it's not that big a deal if we can't, but it is usally good times. What about that dude who says he works at the PC, can you fill us in? WILD OUT!!!!

I've heard that the dog show is approx 20 minutes and Talib Kweli is approx. 40 minutes so the bboys probably won't go on until around 9:30-10ish?

Edit:

The administrator said the dog show is 30 minutes, and Talib Kweli is 40 minutes. One guy on the other post said the Beastie Boys got on at about 9:00 P.M. I gonna call the Patriot Center and find out, I'm going to the show there Friday.
