Hey guys i just got back from the concert and WOW what a concert it was! My first and it totally over achieved anything i ever thought it would have.

To explain how so, i had a hotel in fairfax tonight after the show, but decided to check out early and drive 6 hours back because the adrenaline had not wore off yet(still hasnt and its 6:00am)

Before getting to the show...

I was on the floor far right, first row, green ae shirt, kacki shorts. I also was lucky to meet this intelligant 31 year old chick that i chilled with during the show, whom was the coolest ever! To bad she didnt have her cell with her, i would have loved to got ur digits (she had a husband...but yea..) I purchased the brown (shadrach single cover) t-shirt, they also had a few other shirts with "beastie boys" printed on them in diff colors. Also they were selling mixmasters mike's cd there as well and its funny because the vendor got his name completely wrong, im sure everybody was like what the hell!!(she wrote Mix Mystery Mike on the advertisement, I mentioned it to her and her response was "oh well close enough  "

Sound

Great quality, i know this because i was standing right in front of the damned things, I thought it was gonna blow when they played gratitude

Dog Show

These dogs have talent, they also set a new indoor record jump (thats what they said anyways). They even done front summersaults!

The thing i most remember about the dog show is, adrock coming over and sitting like a few feet from me front row in the seats. He was whistling and was the dog's biggest fan! He may have been sitting with his sister there as well, cause they were all huggin and shit (it wasnt miss hanna) Another thing is i seemed to be the only one in the front row or anywhere around me to recognice the king adrock sitting there..I swear he looks like he's 21

Talib Kweli

Great Performance from approx 8:30-9:15. Crowd was "hot" all during his performance. All though most couldnt sing along because they havent heard his stuff, but we made some noise for the guy. Dj Clue isnt that bad either!
Talib also hung around for the beastie set right around me with this really hot chick hugging on him, lucky man! I saw him lip singing ch-check it out, hes a big beastie fan i can tell.

Beastie Boys From approx 9:45-11:15! Thats right 90 min set!

Before i start talking about the performance, i dont "correctly" remember the order after about the 3rd song, i just got so much into it, i was unable to keep track. Im sure someone will come up with a setlist anyways.

Also I'd like to mention how nice everyone was around me, no pushing, no shoving, everyone was just so nice! (except for this one jackoff further back in the floor booing after the "time to build" song. Also had some bush supporters when adrock said "whos voting for george W"

Of course Mix master mike started off with his usual intro with the ready to rumble at the end. The crowd was jacked before the beasties even hit stage

The show started with "triple trouble", "sure shot", and "EGGMAN"!

The songs performed tonight was;

LTI= Paul Revere, Posse in Effect (yes thats right, even though the called it the "new style 2" before the song, brass monkey

PB= Shake Your Rump, Eggman

CYH= Gratitude, Somethings got to give, So whatcha want,

IC= Sure Shot, Root Down, Sabotage, Groove Holmes, Sabrosa

HN= Super Disco Breakin, Body Movin, Intergalactic, 3mcs and 1 DJ (i was surprised with all the HN selections, NYC you will love it)

TT5B= (y) Time to Build, Right Right Now Now, ch-check it out, open letter to nyc (y) (y)

I hope I didnt leave out anything

______________________other notes________________
*They all started on stage wearing yellow adidas jump suits
*of course wearing the tuxedos during sabrosa, grove holmes, somethings to got give
*MCA had a lot of eye contact with us tonight, it was great.
*All 3 were having so much fun!
*Im stealing adrocks dance moves
*Mark is the shit, i thought he was gonna land on his head when they were doing sabotage because of him jumping around all crazy
*Another thing i noticed was they didnt replace lyrics! Especially the ones they usually substitute. Only catch i had of the night was during "shake ur rump" adrock said wooden stick instead of wiffle ball bat lol

Stuff about Mike D

*He wore his funny square sparkly glasses, which adrock tried on, and stroke a pose!
*He stayed more to the ground also, not much jumping, watch out NYC!
*Stopped Sure shot the first time about 10 seconds in, because he "wasnt feelin it". Which had us all clapping and goin crazy. Moments you can only live LIVE

MCA

*He actually wore shades with the tuxedo while doing the instrumentals, hilarious!
*hairs shorter, afro out!
*Of all the beasties i think i connected with MCA better than the other 2, because of eye contact. (not like the 1 second glance, like a 3-5 second stare saying "u feelin me"....i dig that! i think others can relate
*Wait til you hear "gratitude" from this show! MCA kicked some ass with the bass

Adrock

*laughing, joking, dancing...those 3 words sum up adrock tonight. He humped a lot of air tonight :p
*I laughed all night just looking at his facial expressions, you can just tell he's like the coolest guy ever, no joke!
*I still got this one thing he said stuck in my head before doing sabotage he said "heres a little number i'd like to dedicate to George W. He sang sabotage with some mother fucking feeling tonight! Including 2 long WHYYYYYYYYYY screams!

Song of the Night

Somethings got to GIVE!....holy shit after hearing this, it wasnt 'necessary to hear gratitude at all, being my fav song

Final Comments

Sorry if my thoughts/reviews were to long, but hey!, if theres gonna be a review, THERES GONNA BE A REVIEW

This is an experience I will NEVER forget. If i ever get married it better be damned good to beat this! They truly are the best damn band in the world, period! They proved it tonight. I heard alot of folks say on their way out that "this was the best show EVER" and thats sayin something for the DC area. Kick Ass show! If this show ever becomes availible on CD or DVD of some sort, get your hands on it no matter what, because it was a special night.

and that's right ya'll

"Shall I proceed? Yes indeed..."

Justin, my sentiments exactly! I was at the Fairfax show last night and they lit it up! I also have never seen them live before, so you know this was a long time coming, and they were nothing short of PHENOMENAL. I was dancing my ass off (we were in the back section facing the stage head-on) and I almost lost it when they came up there for Intergalactic. I thought they were gonna get even closer--I was waving Mike D over and I swear there was eye contact (Mike--white t-shirt, long brown hair? Call me! ;) )...Alright, yes, I was in fantasy land. Seriously though, I am even more in love with these guys after last night. They are artistical geniuses, hilarious, and downright HOT! Sabotage--perfect ending guys.

Fuckin' great show. I saw the Peta members outside, saying they didn't agree with the use of dogs for entertainment. So what? We use humans for entertainment, too. It's not cruel, they get fed and saved from being put to sleep.

If any of y'all went to the 9:30 Club table, that was my friend Dave working it. He told me Mike D had been walking around the food courts, dressed like an old man. I kept a lookout, but didn't see him.

Freakin' awesome when they went into the back of the audience for the encore, we were 10 feet away from them. Also awesome-the Will Ferrell video clip of GWB. And the Bar Mitzvah-esque platform they had when they played their instrumentals.

Thing I love most about them is they aren't your run-of-the-mill band. I saw Dave Matthews this summer, and yeah, he puts on a great show. However, he didn't even talk to the audience. Just song after song, pumping them out. I love how the Beasties start their concert in the audience, end it in the audience, interact with them, show video clips, switch up their outfits and just rock out.

Definitely the most fun I've had at a concert, hands down. (y)

They actually played them outside in that one video clip if you remember, it was like 2 seconds long but eh....

I have to agree this sounded so good my head exploded!

Great review Thanx

I have to add the LCD screens added alot to the show simple and effective. I really loved the video of the beasies driveing remote controled mixing boards LOL!

also MMM takeing the stage from the hotdog counter was fantastic.

I want to thank every one for being very cool. Great people at the show. Did anyone see the drunk GUY with the pink scarf? (thanks for the entertainment)

One last thing, to the guy that went to the bottom of the section 114 throwing Karate chops, mocking the security guard untill he had enough and went to get another gaurd....... Nice get away LOL LOL.

"Any way you want it thats the way you need it laaa laaaala la la" Journey cover? LOL

The only thing that kind of pissed me off was that they took the tickets from us when we went in the door. They said they would give the tickets to us when the show was over, but I was so drunk I forgot to go back and get mine.

I know I'm a little late for this one, but I also attended the Fairfax show. I thought I'd NEVER get there! (Damn Mapquest!) Traffic was absoulutely horrible!! Didn't people understand I was on my way to the greatest concert in history?? Anyway, it was my first Beasties show. I'd had tickets to see them right before Mike D hurt his arm, what a bummer. I had such an awesome time and my boyfriend has a whole new respect for the Beasties as well as Mix Master Mike. Even after arriving 40 minutes late...it was all worth it! :D
