Those board game T-Shirts were fresh! (y)

I have a question about them though...

My interpretation is that everyone chose a board game based on the question: (lb)
"If you were a board game, what would you be?" :D

Adrock chose SCRABBLE probably because of his ability to put words together... (y)

MCA chose MAH JONG because of his interest in the Asian culture (y)

Mix Master Mike chose ELECTRONIC BATTLESHIP because of his turntable abilities and the relationship with technology (y)

Nishita chose BOOGLE because...

Alfredo Ortiz chose YAHTZEE because...

(I don't know those guys well enough to guess)

BUT, now for my question... (!)

WHY DID MIKE D.'s shirt say "CRITTER?!?"

And they've said that those are their favorite games.

was it from an interview on tv or an article in a magazine?

I'd like to know what Critter is as well. All I can find is about dogs and racoons and other super furry animals.

I still don't know what game CRITTER is.

I tried doing research and the only thing that I came up with is:

A game called CRITTER IN THE CANDY at boardgamegeek.com (lb)
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/catbrowse.php3?id=89

and CRITTER IN THE CANDY at askdrtoy.com (lb)
http://www.drtoy.com/ask_drtoy/ask_drtoy_g_to_i.html

GAME - BOARD - CRITTER IN THE CANDY (!)
My four-year-old plays a game called Critter in the Candy made by Gabriel Toys.
Critter in the Candy, a Pop-O-Matic Game by Gabriel of CBS Toys, A Division of CBS, Inc: No. 79346.

Isn't that Cootie?

I also looked up Critter and came up empty. It does sound like something he plays with his son.

Funny, I thought Adrock was the King of Boggle.

He gets 11 points off the word "quagmire".

I guess that word helps in Scrabble too, though.

All I've found is "Critter Commandos", Sega's "Whack a Critter," and "Critter Chain" which is a word game - I was thinking maybe it's a card game? Or a very obscure dominoes variation?

I think someone may need to pose that question to Yauch next time he's on...

Thanks for your response, (y) but where did you get your information from? Is there a place I can go to see Yauch's quote  ?

I have an explanation (sort of) about Critter. There is an interview with the Beasties in the new Wax Poetics magazine and they are asked about this:

"I've read that you guys have a particular hobby for each record that you record, like basketball, dominoes, and video games.
ADROCK: We had a basketball court and a half-pipe skateboard ramp at our G-Son studio. We did a lot of basketball, skating, and eating. It was part of a team thing. We'd all order food together, mostly from Noni's, an Italian restaurant from across the street.
MCA: Yeah, they distracted us from the records. We played a lot of mahjong in the making of this last record.
MIKE D: Check Your Head was dominoes. Ill Communication was Sega video golf. Hello Nasty was definitely Boggle. On the new record, we actually split off into different games. Mahjong for Yauch, Scrabble for Horovitz, and I was definitely into a game called Critter, which was a version of Mexican train dominoes."

So I searched and found all sorts of stuff for Mexican train dominoes, but the only Critter dominoes I can find are dominoes for kids that have pictures of animals on them. So maybe he is playing Mexican train dominoes with critter tiles?

Well, that's weird considering what Yauch said last night...

Here (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=37467&page=5&pp=30) near the bottom... I tried to ask him if it was Critter Commandos, but he left right then. Miramanee says she's got a 70's version of it though a couple of pages later.
