Dude, the show in Philly was awesome. they rocked out instrumentals in blue tuxedos and had two encores... one being in the middle of the crowd on the upper level. I've been with the Beasties for a while now and this has got to be one of the most exciting days of my life. They rocked the crowd so hard and Mix Master Mike was killin it! Those guys are funny and entertaining and make the best music ever... Adrock looked right at me! I know it sounds gay but I put my hands in the air and he pointed at me and smiled. Catch these guys on the road. If you're a true fan, (not just someone who occasionally heard Fight for your right or Paul Revere) you should get out and see it. All you imposters who got free tickets, sell them to someone who likes them cuz ur keepin them from havin a hell of a time. PEACE!

I don't even have a voice right now! It was insane in the best way possible :D I'm a huge fan of their instrumentals and they did my 3 favorites. So, that made my night.
I'm glad to hear everyone else had an awesome time \m/

when they came around to camden this summer they showed alittle rust after not being on stage for so many years. they did not stumble or have one flaw last night. High Plains Drifter was the gem of the night. people started heading out after intergalatic...thanks to the boards here i knew they were coming back on to do gratitude and sabatoge. I didnt get into the tribe show afterwords but it was still an incredible night.

some things of intrest that happened:
Kweli was incredible. I've seen the Beastie's EVERY time they've come to philly and I am ALWAYS blown away by their opening acts. I will be buying Kweli's new joint ASAP.
the video of Adrock and MMM at the Art Mueseum doing the Rocky video followed by MMM entering to the Rocky theme got everyone pumped the fuck up. MMM is a GOD on the 1's & 2's.
The 3 really cute girls who sat right next to us and who I was flirting with like a mu'fucker. I had the 1 girl prepared to flash the boys, but once they came out I practically forgot those girls even existed. Every time I was about to sit down or talk to them another song would come on and my attention would be back on the show! My friend wound up hooking up with 1 of them.
The video of MMM taking a bong hit was hilarous. (when are the Beasties gonna officially make MMM a full member of the group? WTF, they let Sasquatch in the group at the MTV awards. When's MMM gonna get his nod into the family?)
The boys were sporting some new light blue on navy blue sweatsuits. No Cosmos outfits. They stopped to ask how the crowd liked them. (y)
MCA got off stage during "Paul Revere" and walked around the floor, walked right past me. Mike and Adrock got the crowd to sing their parts while MCA walked around the whole floor, front to back and sung his parts.....
Did anyone else notice the "Matrix" camera effect they had going. I think it was during So whatcha want or Check it out. Mike D and Yauch were jumping in the air and the camera was freezing their images and rotating around their image, ya know how they did in "The Matrix".
The boys announcing there was an after party and giving out pretty obvious hints as to where it was. The Tribe called Quest show at the Electric Factory.
(I wonder if Kweli did both shows)
I've seen the Beasties every time they came to Philly and this show was definately the best one yet. (y)
Thanks to the Beasties for once again rocking the shit out of Philly and showing everyone what real hip hop is and what real entertainers are!

i went last night and it was the shit! i was there early and got against the rail and then these kids came up and i gave up my spot to them, i made it on the giant screens they had on the stage when they were doing time to get ill i was the hairy dude in the black shirt. the beastie boys were awsome this time it was my 3rd time. once during hello nasty and then at the feztival. i had one gripe though drunk preppy bitches, this girl tried to get in front of me and she succeeded but i kept telling her that there was no room theres no room but she squeezed her way through, and i got pushed back i hated her for about 3 mins and it kinda killed the enjoyment that i was having cause some dumb drunk girl wanted to be a whole person ahead of me oh well then she moved somewhere else and i went ahead and had a good time again. i was there up front for the entire show then i started making my way back half way through sabotage so i could make it to the tribe called quest show on time, so i went out the wrong way and had to run half way around the venue to get to my car luckily i parked where there wasnt to much traffic so then i got to the electric factory and saw a lot of people walking back to their cars with their heads down and i felt bad for em, but i knew this would happen being that tribe hasnt performed in 6 years or so, so i get in and funk master flex wraps up his set then these 2 people come on and start talking and then this dude comes out with a tribe called quest banner to put on the dj's set, then they do a count down from 10, then they walk on stage start to give each other hugs and then they start with buggin out the place goes crazy and they play for about 45 mins, then q-tip says they gotta go cuz of some gay curphew and then they come back out and kick into scenario well part of it anyways, they were hyped as hell and the whole place was going crazy, they even did oh my god, but in the middle of their set talib kweli came out, it was funny the dj started playing talibs song and q-tip looks back and says why the hell you playing that, then talib comes out and starts to do i try and then goes into get by and tribe is rapping along it was cool. all in all a good night i have no voice and i gotta go to work peace!

10-12-2004, 08:59 AM
oh yea, I almost forgot another point of interest:
The couple sitting in front of us getting ready to leave after Intergalatic. The house lights came on and the whole place was clearing out. As they were putting their coats on I said "where are you going, the concert's not over yet." Dude says to me "Oh, it's over alright.".......a few seconds later I saw the beasties running out of the tunnel on to the back of the stage and then you heard the guitar being picked up. 1 or 2 seconds later the dude just looked at me and laughed. (y) I'm sorry rude drunk chicks didn't show the same respect and decency to you, but props for showing those kids the value of treating your fellow concert goers with respect. :)

Been a fan since I can remember...now 25 yrs old. Everytime they come to philly and just rock it out. I missed getting tix the first day and was bummed b/c i thought it'd be sold out. Destiny is the sh*t. I ended up getting tix a week later and got section 112 row 1. To see MCA coming down my way during Paul Revere was just amazing. I was at the edge of the opening from security to GA and he just stood there and just electrified everyone around. Truly a new favorite B-boy memory for me. Destiny continues with the 1st encore. I saw the stage in our section but never put 2 + 2 together. To have them come up and just be right there in the middle of our section was just something I've never seen or imagined. AWESOME!
It sucks that philly couldn't sell out. this is the first time i've been to a b-boys concert and just see sooooo many empty seats. people are missing out on one of the greatest bands/groups of all time. i pray that they'll continue to produce great music and letting us enjoy it with them live.

Show was off the hook. High Plains Drifter? Flute Loop? Insane. I was at the first row right underneath them when they came into the crown. I was like a foot away, literally had their sweat pouring on me. Show was crazy. Then MCA walking around the crowd. He came right passed me and slapped my hand which was long awaited for several years. Many kudos to the boys for a wonderful show. See you back on Long Island!!

I am such a old fart that I didn't get the clues!! LOL. I had to go home and crash in a dash anyway. I did hear some folks on the train say "You going to Tribe?" I didn't realize that was the same night!
Great show. A fine time was had by all - even the guy who tossed his cookies in the mosh pit.

No Nikki, i was actually in the first row right under the the stage where they performed Intergalactic in the crowd. I knew they did that at the garden show and then I went to my section I saw that stage there and kinda figured. Then right when the finished check-it out i ran to use the bathroom quickly and the gaurd told me if i leave i cant go back in so that confirmed the beasties were going to be right there. I rushed back in and there they were. Got some crazy photos with my shitty camera phone.

Then in the parking lot after the show where those guys sell the bootleg t-shirts. I bargained them down to 5 shirts for $30 . So now i have 3 t's and 2 long sleeve t's from the show, even though they arent official.

YEAH!!! AWESOME SHOW!!!
I was front row to the left of the stage...right where MCA jumped down during the show.
I got there at about 6:30 and was shocked to be able to get right to the front. and for those that missed out getting there early...
I got to meet Mike D.
At about 6:45, he came out in a clown outfit, red nose, and his trademark sunglasses with a cameraman. He was just making his way through the crowd saying hi and talking to people and the camera. Like I said there were only about 40-50 people there when it happened, and everyone was real cool and mellow.
And did I have a camera for this??? No!!! That is the last time I follow the rules stated on the ticket :-)

without a doubt the best concert I have ever been to. I got pit tickets. Just being that close to the stage was worth all the drunk broads in the crowd being dumb. anyway, the highlights were the intro with MMM as rocky. by the way, Ad-Rock does the best imitation of Mickey ever. MCA in the crowd during Paul Revere, the blue tuxedos (it was a pagent). I could go on but the whole damn show was a highlight. I can't wait for the live DVD. (which I hope was the reason for the cameras). Does anyone know who the kid that crowd surfed was? (he got his ass taken out by security, I think).

Money Mark - ?

The show was definitely the best I've been to. I shit my pants twice. First, when they played High Plains Drifter and second was when Horovitz picked up a stack of tattoo business cards a friend of mine threw on stage and said "Big Mojo Tattoo....where's Keith Hernandez!" I fuckin' lost it. Awesome time. (y) (y) (y)

THe "George W" commercial w/ Will Ferrell was tight

the best concert ever.
i was a few rows infront of them when they performed in the crowd..it just fuckin rocked.
the crowd was crazy, and the beastie's were awesome... love how adrock wouldn't give his hat away to some girl,, i thought it was funny anyway...
tried to find the after party but couldn't find it since i'm not from philly and i had no idea where to go exactly...oh well, it rocked anyway...
....we are still gonna luv you, Minton, for running the website etc, but be very careful about simply passing along a piece of paper that was handed to you (or FAXed to you this morning) as being the truth. The "official" setlist *does* have what you typed, M - I have that same piece of paper.
However, they did indeed re-arrange the order, as Root Down was first, followed by Sure Shot [I mistakenly entered in the wrong title earlier] and then Triple Trouble. After the Will Ferrell commercial, they broke into semi-short version of High Plains Drifter, then did the three section sing along for Time To Get Ill. In short, for those of you looking for the actual setlist as it was played, please refer above to >>JimBeam41's<< posting, as he has what seems to be the correct list (whether he wrote it all down or is going off of a recording). The MATRIX effects were apparently used twice, once during #15 Right Right Now Now, and again on #20 So Whatcha Want....at least as listed on that print out.
So....this is not to diss you, Minton! But unless you are on the road with the band and are actually writing the setlist down, be careful about making things "official" when they may not be. And regarding the Tour Blog, DO NOT put the setlist you put down as being the correct order - use JimBeam41's. ;)
My moment of stupidity: as Shake Your Rump was kickin into gear, and the line "and I say, Shake Your Rump!" first appeared, I started the "Hoooooooo!", but too early!!! MCA instead staggered in the line "...So party in this mutha fuckin house, lemme here you say:". Bastards tricked me!
I also made it into the supposed "after party" (the early one, not the record release later), but aside from Talib Kweli singing for his bit, there was no connection to the BBoys concert. One BB fan claimed to have seen one or two of them hangin around deep side stage at the Electric Factory, but I had the same angle and could spot anything. I was looking for Alfredo's hair as the indicator!
So unless you were a diehard Tribe fan, you missed nothing at all, at least at this show. That is, unless you were looking for advice on who to vote for: at the very end of the performance, the lead singer of Tribe got OFF on George W., almost violently shouting "Fuck Bush! FFFuck Bush! Bush can SUCK MY D!CK!!!". I guess that means he's voting for Kerry....as most of us here on this board likley will as the lesser of two evils. ;)
Back to more banter on what REALLY WAS a kickass show in Philly, likely stronger than the "safe" DVD shoot at MSG.

I think Money Mark was MOUSETRAP. Remember that game?
yeah i think that's right!!
and i really thought they used the matrix effects more than twice in the show. but i spose i could be wrong about that. there was so much goin on, it's all kinda blending together at this point. :D
i think i ended up on MMM's camera at the end. i was right up front jumpin and wavin my arms at him. it looked like he was takin video. LOOK FOR THE TALL GUY WITH THE GREEN CAMOFLAUGE SHIRT ON!! THAT'S ME!!!!! WOO HOO!!!! CHECK ME OUT, MIKE!

. as Root Down was first, followed by Sabotage and then Triple Trouble. !
If you're going to be condescending at least check your song titles. People like me love to pick up on this sort of shit....

I am 100% sure that Root down and Sure shot were the 1st 2 songs, I don't remember which was first, but they were definetly the first 2. Then Triple Trouble was 3rd.
....my condescending dumbass that I am ;), I should never have slipped in the wrong title as the second song; I stand corrected as will my above post, that Sure Shot (and not Sabotage - DOHP!) was the second song!
I will still be somewhat condescending....if that's Ok!!!
BTW, I could not hear the audio part too well during the 30 second vid clip of the guy taking a huge bong hit - I did not think it was MMM (although there certainly was a *small* resemblance), so who was this dude on the screens, if anybody else heard?!

Regarding the setlist there - I just quickly copy/pasted that from the band's original file that was sent to me for this show over some coffee and toast this morning. :)
The correct setlist is now up in the Tour Blog.

so i guess im about 2 days late
but i had the most amazing time ever at this show.
2nd time seeing them.
the 1st being at the y100 feztival, which was fun
but nothing compared to this show.
every song was great
i wasnt expecting them to play paul revere which was pretty cool
however the highlights of my night were Lighten Up, Sabotage, SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE, was so fucking good. i really like the live version.
their stage performance was so good.
ive been a fan for 9 years now. and this was just too good.
and the radio show they did was y100 was the best thing ive heard on the radio in a LONG time.
descendents, iggy, public enemy, billy joel...
what a great way to end the night.
looking foward to more shows, albums, whatever.
Peace

I just created this account to post about the show, I know I'm a few days behind but we stayed a day to site-see and now I am trying to get back to the daily grind etc.
Anywho, THANK YOU SO MUCH Beastie Boys for an amazing show! I am still singing and dancing around the house and getting butterflies when I tell people my experience.
My friends and I drove down from Syracuse the day before. We got to WC at 3 pm and even though there were a lot of empty cars in the parking lot I only saw one other car of some girls tailgating. There were signs indicating where the GA Floor ticket holder entrance would be so we kept watching for when security would come out to line the gates up. I think it was around 4:30pm?? when they came and people starting to get in line. My friends and I got, I think, 13th-15th in line (yes, we counted). We brought costumes to wear but chickened out and we so should have because it was awesome when they stopped the show to highlight the people who had dressed up! My friend did put on his Sabotage gear before the song came on though and got a lot of props as we were leaving...
So then a camera guy comes out saying he's asking people what requests they want to hear, and they're making a DVD etc. and the boys would be watching it before the show to see what people had to say (i hope they did atleast). So he gets to us and asks if we want to say anything. I was really nervous but stood up and said how I would love to hear Paul Revere and Brass Monkey. Then I told a story of how when I met my bf 6 years ago he worked at a club and saturdays were disco night and he would play Brass Monkey for me and I would get on the podiums and dance to it and just have the best time. So at the concert when they went into Paul Revere followed by Brass Monkey I thought I was going to lose it!! Thank you SO much, that was one of the highlights in my life!!!
Some other stuff that totally rocked was when MCA jumped down and was going through the crowd he slapped my hand! And I was there when Mike D came out dressed like a clown before the show started. We were able to get 2nd row center! I have 3 bruises on my left leg but it was so worth it! Thanks again guys and keep up the great work!!
P.S. I'll be at the Ottawa show too

I can't believe I'm the first to post this....days now after the show! Unless I missed someone else posting it.....WTF was up with 76 South!!!!!!!!!!!
I left my house at 5pm for the 50min. ride into Philly and got to the show after 10:30PM.
Words can't explain sitting in traffic for 5 hours with 4 $50 tix, knowing the show started, later hearing that the people waiting for the tix bail cauze your sitting on a highway! I caught the last 5 songs +
I must stop typing cause I'm starting to get "that" feeling again!!

OUCH!!!
I feel you, brotha! A few people did mention a prob with I-76, but it didn't sound as bad as what held you up. At least you only missed the first sixteen songs. No seriously, that sucks. Maybe some kind soul will hook you up with a recording of the show....

All I can say, even now, days after the show--
Fucking High Plains Drifter.
That was the DOPEST thing I've ever seen/heard at any show in my almost 30 years.
Kind of funny that the lyrics to Paul Revere are all P.C. now, but Yauch has no problem saying that 7-11 is a better place to rob than it is to visit. lol For real, hearing that song live, I can't even express how dope it was.
If they ever change those lines in a live show though, that'll be my last one. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaassssssssseeeeee don't ever fuck with HPD!
Oh, and I was at MSG two days earlier, and to hear Chris Rock say High Plains Drifter was his favorite song, gave me a whole new level of respect for the man.

To be actual and factual Chris Rock said "slow and low" was his jam. he even quoted the song saying the line "white castle fries only come in one size"

Yeah sounds gay. :) And speaking of Paul Revere, did they play it??!!! Going to the show in ATL tonight.

The hold up on 76 was a bob scare.
My sister-in-law was stuck in that mess on the Schukyll (s) She was on for 3 hours and was supposed to meet a girl down there to give her her ticket. The girl ended up buying another ticket. But them some old securyity guys heard her plight and let her on the floor with us so she did't have to be alone. My sil got to the show w/ about an hour left... she said regardless it was worht it.

I have to add that this particular show meant a lot to me. Not only was it my first Beastie Boys concert(I've been wanting to see them for years!), it was a special moment for both me and my best friend RoseAnne. Back in 1999 I was working at Tower Records(Northeast store) and Roe started working there. We didn't really talk that much until one night I whipped out The Beasties Sounds of Science Anthology to put in the CD playlist. She said, "you like the Beasties?" I said, "Hell yeah!". The rest is history. 5 years later and we are still best friends. So, in a corny way the BB's brought us together. :o
Again, it was an amazing show. Definitely going to try and see the Long Island show.
