Why don't the BBoys perform certain songs anymore?

So why is this? From their recent playlists at concerts I've noticed that they don't do songs like "Girls" or "fight for your right" anymore, even though they are Beastie classics. What gives?

Although we regard them as classics the Boys feel differently due to the lyrical content. The sexism and stuff ain't really what they stand for, never didi really. They were very misunderstood, especially in the UK where politicians tried to get them banned from touring in the late 80's! I have some recordings of live LTI tracks where they've changed the lyrics a bit. But now-a-days i don't think it'd go with their image especially with the respect they now command for their charity work and outspoken views like Adrock and his mosh pit thing, anti-Bush, tibet etc. Look at interviews and they will tell you that they were playing the image so much during LTI era, they actually started to become that image, and that freaked them i think

the reason they don't play fight for your right and girls is because those songs are really weak. they try to play alittle from everything. i would think the new style and time to get ill are better songs anyways.

Take a look at the liner notes on Anthology about why they included Fight for Your Right. If I remember correctly, they say something to the effect that it was so well known as part of their career that it would be wrong to omit it on the anthology, but that it was a joke that ended up becoming their image. I'm positive it's explained better there.

went to PJ recently and Ed brings a notebook with him for certain songs... gotta love the old guys still on stage ;)

They did an interview with our local station here and they were asked that very question (on 99x in Atlanta). They replied back almost offended and said they changed up a lot and songs from Licensed were in and out all of the time. They don't do the whole album but they did do songs from it tonight in Atlanta.
