the hospitality will be the only warm thing about the place. the word baltic comes to mind when i think about the weather.
of course it's cool if you come along brian. the more the merrier. will come up with a good place to go closer to the time.

Hey J-Dog, I just figured something out, are you referring to ME as Brian or is there someone else on the message board that you're talking to? I can see how you would think it's Brian but it's Briana- I'm a chick! No worries if that's what you thought it was, it happens a lot!! I thought it was funny though. Of course if there really is someone named Brian that you're talking to then I just feel stupid. :D

oh no, just I. I just got here from the States, and I had JUST missed seeing them in Phoenix, Arizona, so when they added this show I didn't even care if I had to go alone. I'm a desperate woman. But you'll have to choose the pubs and stuff, I'm sure you know where to go. Oh is there anyone dressing up?? I dont have a CLUE what to wear. Granted, it is a month away, but still.....
j-dog
10-22-2004, 10:12 AM
i'll be dressing. that's as far as it goes i'm afraid. i'll probably choose a special t-shirt, maybe even buy a new one just for the gig. actually, i might wear a short sleeved shirt. that, for me, is dressing up.
don't worry about the choice of bar, i've been researching them for about 5 & a half years now. i'll pick somewhere suitable. of course other glasgow inhabitants can offer suggestions. preferably somewhere near partick (where i live) or the exhibition centre. i'll maybe start a thread on it closer to the gig.

Can't believe they're playing Glasgow now! Got tickets for the Manchester gig and planned on driving down there for the gig...but just got tickets for Glasgow instead as it's my hometown, it's on a Saturday night, and nothing beats a Glasgow crowd!! Cannae wait!!!!!
There's no shortage of pubs nearby...both in West End and in town. My husband and I will probably head out to a pub about lunchtime (dressed up of course - have to sort our cossies out soon!).
I'm so excited - feel like a wee schoolgirl again! :D

i reckon we compile a wee list of suitable pubs and see what people think. i'll start with a few. for ones in town how about:
mono (veggie food too)
13th note (ditto)
r.g.'s
barfly
or up west end direction how about:
stereo (veggie food)
54 below
or around woodlands:
the halt (should be re-open by then & supposedly have some kind of kitchen)
the arlington (respect to the arly! and their pies)
the doublet
i don't know, what do others think?

well, you can choose from drinking buckfast (drink of champions), smoking cheap diesel soaked soapbar and fighting. or all three.
really, you could check out some of the amazing architecture. obviously you don't need to travel about to see it. the glasgow uni is really cool. the cloisters make a sweet b+w photo. some of the old buildings in town are great too.
actually, during the day celtic are playing hibs. that would be nice to watch (i know beastie bhoy's with me on that).

i'll certainly be having a few cocktails before the main event at the library on sauchiehall street or maybe gong off byre's road. but with my friends! if anyone wants to come and say hello to the people dressed weirdly that would be fine (and surreal) but y'all strangers, fools!

Can someone recommend a good pub to go to near the SECC. I know a few names have been mentioned but I want to know the best and where most people are going. Can't wait now.................... :)

we're goin to the halt bar (it's on woodlands road) coz it's kinda our local. so it's a decent bar, obviously. it's not totally close to the secc, it's about a 5ish minute taxi journey. not sure about bars that are close to the venue.

hey shona - don't worry about it - I'm having the same dilemma - do i go for the dress to impress outfit ( skirt t-shirt and biker boots) or the scruffy alternative (baggy jeans t-shirt and trainers) - what is a girl to wear? :D
2hrs til I leave for the SECC :D.

I'm going for the biker boots/skirt option too. I've decided to be a little patriotic and wear a tartan skirt :) and as for the top half... whatever falls out the wardrobe first.
almost time to leave soon... See you all there! :D

I WAS DANCING!!!!!!!!!!
Then we had to move from the stinking crowd rush!
I posted it earlier but this being my 7th time seeing them, I will never fault the boys - i absolutely love them on toast - but they didn't look impressed with the crowd!
All the other gigs i have been to - ppl where dancing, polite and loving life with their fello beasties addicts - this time left little to be desired!
P.S Sabrosa TOTALLY rocked my world!!
