Interesting that this is the same day as the Big Day Out. So I guess the band will play BDO during the day and Hordern at night.
I wonder if I can bum a ride from the showgrounds to downtown with them ;-)

threeDworld said the same date:
http://www.threedworld.com.au/news/news_home.php#17
and they said the melbourne side show would be on feb 2 at festival hall
 it seems odd they'd be playing the same day as the bdo - espeically since theyre not doing the same in melbourne..
i need some official confirmation before i can believe it..

has anyone ever been to both the hordern in sydney and festival hall in melbourne? if so, which is better?
minton

The above is incorrect. The Melbourne show is February 2, 2005 at Festival Hall.

Yeah, i'm going in to the city tonight and tmrw so if I see one/some i'll try rip them down.
Don't worry about Ebay, if I get one you could just pay for postage.
I paid 15 bucks off Ebay for a street size poster of Hello Nasty's release, it's great because it's so big but paying that much for something that was plastered on a wall....might aswell be honest ay?
Nickhead, is that from the street press?

just because something is listed on the sanity website, doesn't mean that the item:
a) exists
b) is in stock
c) or will ever be in stock

true. but i've ordered a few obscure items from them before and have always received them - albeit after a month of waiting. I should try ordering the bboys poster just to see.

Beastie boys are playing festival hall in melbourne on the 2nd of February according to my friend, and he got it from the entertainment guide in the age. Getting my ticket on tuesday thats for sure.
Ohh yeah, and about sanity, they took 2 months to deliver me a beastie boys 2 shirt, they totally suck dont buy off them or trust them in any way shape or form.
mikelip
10-22-2004, 02:37 AM
Sanity's record stores suck too. Almost every record store sucks these days in Aus.
http://www.utopia.com.au <--- now thats a cool record store (but I dont think they sell on the web). I was there on the weekend. Lots of vinyl; lots of different styles of music in stock, not just heavy metal anymore. I didnt look at the T's though.

10-22-2004, 02:53 AM
Utopia is a good store for alternate stuff, I personally like Borders tho. Cheaper than HMV, and I just prefer their selecvtion-they are very competitive on prices. Sanity suck.
Hey does anyone know how MUCH these tickets are going to be?? They go on sale Tuesday and I have people wanting to know how much they are!! Whatever the cost, (within reason), I'm down++++++++vibes+++++++++++

sanity (n)
jb hi-fi are best for price but they don't have many stores
borders never have anything I want
so I shop at hmv. I usually find what I'm after (and pay for it too i guess)
as for bboys ticket prices.. my guess is $70-$80... not that it really matters. I'm paying whatever it costs
redlantern2051
10-22-2004, 07:58 PM
$70-$80 would be very reasonable. The cost doesn't really worry me, but just I have about 3 friends that have promised to come, but I'll believe it when I see the cash. At this point, I think it'll just be me and a girl from work. That'll be cool. Its all about the Beasties anyway, I'll go alone if needs be!!!! WHO CARES!!! For me, this is a dream come true!!!
Johann
10-22-2004, 08:58 PM
Haha, Utopia suck too, they are too expensive!
They are like Harrods!, and it feels like a K-Mart in there.
The cd's/vinyl are about $5-10 more, the Euphoria section (Hip Hop etc section) does have a decent range but noone wants to pay more than they have too.
I'm sticking with the net for buying my music! (y)
I went into HMV and they are selling Hello Nasty on vinyl for $41!
and then next to it Pauls Boutique on Vinyl is $18!
I'm guessing tix will be about 80 bucks....
minton
10-22-2004, 09:20 PM
Buying music in Australia? Don't waste your time. JB HiFi is useless - they don't stock properly, their staff on average know little to nothing about music. They do however offer better prices than most others do most of the time. As for HMV and Sanity, well, they will stock the mainstream stuff but little else. They suck. They have trouble ordering items in, they don't keep their online catalogue up-to-date to name a couple of issues. Stick to the smaller stores, or shop overseas. That's what I do. :)

I still like missing link in melbourne and jb hifi out of the commercial chains. But i really hate sanity and hmv, they are rip off artists and have a shitty range.
As for the melbourne show, how come you guys didn't have it on the site earlier, i thought you'd get the word long before the newspapers. Same with bdo.

We only add dates to the site when they're passed onto us with the instruction to do so. So we don't call the shots there.
I did mention it a while ago when Adam H. told me in late September about the Australian dates though, for those who were browsing the forums. :)

SCRIBE is the support act
^^^
Aw man, I'm so not a fan of scribe!! I wish it was some Aussie's representing...a bit of Koolism or Hilltop Hoods would go down a treat.
We had the scribe cd at my work, and I heard it many a time...some of the tracks were alright, but overall he's a bit too Rnb-ish for my liking...not to mention the whole American accent thing...
the shows in australia better be good cause i'm gonna get my ass over there.

They'll be good.
You'd better lose your hair before you head over though - 40 degree heat at an outdoor festival with metres of hair wrapped around your head is asking for trouble.

I'm sure the Boys will be great...I'm just not that stoked on the support...I hope you don't take Scribe as an indication of Aussie talent (he is from New Zealand after all! )

all you sydney siders good luck fighting for bandwith with all the killers fans who will be after tickets for brisbane, sydney and melbourne on ticketek... they go on sale @ the same time...
luckily festival hall is done by ticketmaster, so it shouldn't be as big a problem...
is a shame about scribe... would've loved to have seen butterfingers or 1200's support... could've been worse, could have got selwyn or J-Wess...

yer dressing up is the way to go, but its gonna be soooooo hot.
i might go for a see through singlet and sport some fresh sunnies ala mike in shake your rump.
and i wanted to get a " I Love N.Y" tshirt for the gig, but since im not in new york...
Yeah, a singlet is probably the go. I dunno if this is really considered dressing up, but I was thinking of buying a bonds top and writing some random message or quote on it. Wear that and a skirt, and possibly some knee hi socks (with two stripes down the side)??? Then get some crazy fresh accessories to top it off...some op shop sunnies or jewellery...anything a bit wacky and fun.
What do you reckon?

i think d might actually like paddies, according to the very nice ladies who tried to sell me sunglasses there before, the glasses were in fact normally priced at $250, except it was a one day only special and they were shipping for $15.
i passed, but bought a thin pair with no frame and completely red plastic for $5, theyre so trippy...

got my ticket as well, no trouble getting them and by the looks of ticketek online they arent sold out yet, which is weird, only 4000 ppl capacity and not sold out. I saw them both nights in 98 on the fence, same thing must happen again. Im sure i will meet a few of you in the line nice and early, looking forward to waiting in the sun!!

hehe...that's just a polite way of saying it sounds weird! :D I've gotta admit, is does sound pretty weird in writing...but I have this intense desire to go all out at the moment. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I've almost finished my B/A and am feeling pretty cagey right now. I soooo wanna let loose and party like crazy!
Oh well, tomorrow night I'm going to this thing called stonefest. Downsyde, Dexter, Groove Armada, The $2 Scratchies, Karton etc. are playing. Should be dope. Can't wait to let my hair down!

woohoo!
got my tix the other day... well, my sister used my credit card...
i have a 'gang' of about 8 going, but im sure more people will pop up out of the woodwork. im keen to dress up, but i dont think anyone else will. i have beauty pageant sashes that i made that say things like 'miss lead' and 'miss conceive'. that could be funny. or cattle judging sashes. hmmm...
but yeah, the heat. though if the goths that i saw at a perfect circle in feb this year could wear leather, vinyl and corsets, im sure that we, as beastie boys fans, are resilient enough to have a bit of cheesey pageant action in the 35 degree heat. ;)

You know how I feel about the BDO, minton, so I'm pretty shirty that the other capitals are being excluded. I'm just too old to be kicked in the head by 16yo kids acting all tough and testosterony in the pit.

I'm not sure of the reasoning behind the decision to only play additional shows in Sydney and Melbourne. I would assume that it's either a part of their deal with the BDO or it's only economical to play Sydney and Melbourne.
I hear you regarding the BDO crowd though. It normally sucks.
