Okay then. But there does always seem to be a lot of Americans who are like 'Yeah, I am Irish too!'. Especially around St Patrick's day.
Thats prob cos theres more Irish in America, than Ireland itself, thats a fact.

This is the wrong forum for such a discussion, btw.
yes it is.
but.
yeah, i'm irish. i get bored with people saying "oh, i'm irish." i believe your nationality is where you were born. i mean there could be scottish, french or some other european country history in my family but i would never say, especially to a french person, "oh, i'm french too."
the amount of people i met in the states claiming to be irish was ridiculous. i got pretty bored with it after a while and started to ask them whereabouts they came from. answers varied from baltimore, philly, new york etc. surprisingly all but one was american. when i pointed out that those cities are in the u.s.a. they went on to explain that their great great grandparents were from ireland. i said "ok, that'll make them irish but you, i'm afraid, are american".
that's how i see it anyway.

Yeah same. Its strange the way Irish-Americans say "I'm Irish". No, you've got Irish ancestry. Saying Irish-American sounds too pc though.
