I was in the front row at the Philly show on monday night, and I totally got felt up by the scumbag standing behind me. The signs on the doors for GA all said "NO BACKPACKS, RECORDING DEVICES," etc. Could you please do me a favor and add "GROPING INNOCENT, UNSUSPECTING YOUNG LADIES" to the list of things not allowed on the floor at your shows? I'd really appreciate it.

P.S.

The show was fucking fantastic! Thanks for playing Floot Loop. (y)

It's not the Beastie Boys' fault you got touched.

I've never been to a show where I wasn't touched. It comes with the territory, unfortunately. The shows where liquor is served are always the worst.

There are worse thing than being touched at a show--like being physically assaulted, sexually assaulted (more than just touching), or puked on.

-M

I never said it was their fault.

The Beastie Boys really need to tell their fans to put a stop to the groping! It's really getting out of hand (pun intended).

that's completely not true. if you're a female going to a concert shouldnt involve getting felt up. and for guys going to conerts shouldnt mean you get to grope females like you're dirtbag.

security cant watch over every single person so it does happen but it shouldnt be accepted as coming with the territory

For once I agree with this guy! To say "it comes with the territory" is some ignorant shit. No guy has the right to grope a girl just because they are at a show and shes in the GA area. If anything we should be looking out for the women in the pit and make sure that they are having a good time and not getting slammed around.

I figure a word of advice from The Boys wouldn't hurt, either.

I posted this in the Atlanta thread because there was question about the Beasties personal views on crowd surfing, moshing, groping and such.

But i'll post it here too since it seems appropriate.

Now granted, these were there official views in 1995...but here you go.

OK...Here is the what the Beasties Boys said in the Official Tourzine from the Quadrophonic Tour in 1995.

EMERGENCY LIFESAVING TECHNIQUES - Mosh Pit Don't and Do's Presented by the Beastie Boys
DON'TS
1. Don't Elbow, Kick, Punch, Thrash, Smash, Skank...or do any other dance that can only be performed at the expense of others. Respect all peoples, not just yourself!

2. Don't Float! Unless you're a certified waif* AND, as Bikini Kill fanzine reminds us, "Don't think that 'cuz you are in the pit that you can get away with grabbing girls' breasts or putting your hands down their pants or undoing their bras, etc., etc. A girl has as much right to mosh as anyone else and just 'cus she's slamming up against you doesn't mean she is in LOVE with you."

3. Don't Encourage Floating! Don't offer potenetial moshers a stirrup -- you're not a horse! Floating also leads to being passed over the barricade, which usually involves injury, ejection or humiliation at the hands of the authorities.

4. Don't Kick Up Dirt! Or tomorrow morning you'll have black boogers --plus it's wack! (This rule may not apply at arena shows but follow it anyway.)

5. Don't Taunt Security! They're only doing their job, so why don't you do the same and act like a homo sapien!

6. In Short, Don't Be A Knucklehead! Just because you're a jock, ex-jock, or would-be-jock doesn't mean that this is just another game. Save the macho bullshit for American Gladiators tryouts, tough guy.

DO'S
1. Do Help People When They Scream "HELP!" Or Fall Down! Don't just stand there grinning like an idiot! Take charge of a bad situation, tell people to mellow out and help the disadvantaged party to their feet. Be Pro-Active --and not just in the pit! Don't let hassles happen anywhere on the premises. If you want hassles, take it to the Marines.

2. Do Something Constructive With Your Time & Life! Be creative within your own space. Don't infringe on other people's right to enjoy themselves. When the band starts to play, don't act like your mom's at a K-Mart sale and stampede the joint. Do yourself a favor and learn how to really dance a real dance step... A) Pogo B) Go-Go C) Smurf D) Breakdance E) All of the above.

They should make flyers with those rules on them and hand them out at the GA doors.

You think getting felt up is bad? One time some slut wearing a skirt and g-string was crowdsurfing over me, so I licked my first two fingers and stuck'em straight up her ass! Oh boy, was she upset! :D

I agree with the sign that needs to be posted. At the 9:30 show this past summer, some freak thought it would be fun to grab my ass. I turned around and told him to fuck off and he pretty much did. You gotta be stern. That type of stuff cannot be tolerated. a crowded floor is by no means a pass to be chester the molester. keep it real, DUBLIRIE
