Mmm, it is one of the lovely things about the upcoming holiday season, isn't it? Little bitty bite size pies, everywhere.

(I know this makes me a corporate dupe and all, but I have to say the ones at Starbucks are actually really really (y))

michi mincemeat is not actually meat at all (anymore), its chopped up bits of sticky fruits like rasins, currants, figs, dates etc, minced up and cooked in butter, apple juice and sugar/syrup, with lots of spices like cinnamon and nutmeg and clove.

The best mince pie I ever had was in England in 1982...it was DAMM FINE.

Mine was a nice big one and I had a peice as soon as it came out the oven and it was piping hot.

Like fruitcake, some are great and many suck...it's all about quality of ingredients and how good the cook is.
