I had the most wonderful experience of my life last night in Tampa. I had the chance to spend a few hours backstage with the Beastie Boys before the show. I just want to thank them all for being really nice to us, and especially Adam Yauch. He even stopped playing his basketball game to come and spend time to talk to us.
Fortunately my wife and I know Adam's cousin Jeff, who was able to make any fan's dream come true.
I was nervous about actually meeting them, but they were so cool. We got to watch them play basketball, get pictures with Yauch, have them autograph our CD, and even eat with them backstage. We even had a discussion with them about dogs. It was amazing to have Adrock ask us about our little beagle puppy (there backstage passes had a picture of a beagle on them), and showing us pictures of dogs that he had saved on his phone.
They treated us like we belonged with them, and it was the best feeling to have them be even nicer to us in person than I ever imagined. They even let us watch the show from next to the stage right next to the steps they went up to get onto the stage. (We were no more than 10 feet from the stairs)
As an added bonus we had Tone Loc watching the show right behind us next to the stage.
If any of the Beastie Boys are reading this (especially Yauch) I just want to thank you for being so nice to us, and making my dream come true of not only seeing a show, but meeting you and being able to watch the show next to the stage. Next to my wedding day this was by far the best night I could ever imagine.
Thanks again for a great show

Beastie999 - On top of the world I can only imagine you feel! Congrats on it!!!! I would have been nervous too. The closest I got was with my binoculars from my 116 section tix.
Needless to say that was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I was so glad they came to TPA. The set list was amazing. I was so happy that they mixed the old with the new.
The only thing that I was not happy about was the idiots who decided it would be "cool" to fight. I just thought "great way to represent us in front the ledgends"
Anyway.. Congrats on your experience... there are many of us who are jealous.
Oh this is for your wife... Was AD Rock still as HOT as I could only imagine him being????

I have to admit that I am "one lucky bastard."
When I woke up yesterday morning I would have never thought that I would be able to say that I would go to sleep having eaten in the same room with the Beastie Boys. I was almost in shock sitting in the room with them. I could not even really eat anything.
It was the most surreal experience of my life. I had MCA trying to get me to eat some Tiramisu with him, and I was so full from eating before I got there that I just couldn't eat anymore.
I don't want anyone to think that I am trying to say "ha ha. I am a badass who was backstage with them." I just want everyone to know that they were some of the most down to earth people I have ever met.

As far as Tone Loc goes Mike D was talking about him being there when they were eating and I think that the people there thought that we was kidding because they were giving him a hard time about it. But sure enough, about half way through the show he walked out from the back and stood right behind us.
During the show Money Mark was talking to him, and I think he was trying to get him to go up on stage and he just kept saying no.
That would have been great if he had gotten up on stage with them.

I don't think it's possible to overstate the point that you are one lucky bastard! Naturally I'm insanely jealous, but that is really cool and I'm very happy for you. It's nice to hear this happens to someone who truly appreciates the experience and gets to live out a dream come true.

Very lucky but I have no idea whether you are a bastard. The show was kick ass and I had a blast. We drove from Jax to see it. It's cool to know that the B-boys aren't like some other celebs I've met over the years. You gotta have respect for guys that will do what they did in stopping a show and frontstreeting those punks who were fighting. I also thought it was cool that they had Tampa a police officer on their vid (playing on stage). Props to all the fans in Tampa as well. We met a lot of cool peeps were invited to some parties and in general had a great time. The locals know how to treat their guests and I for one will be going back.
