View Full Version : what would you do if...
kerry got elected, and the draft ended up happening anyway? i'm not saying it's going to, and i have absolutely no evidence to imply that it would, i'm just saying, hypothetically
personally, as someone who's voting for kerry, i'd consider hari-kari (or hari-kerry as it were)
seriously, that would be such a kick in our collective nuts, someone would have to die if that happened.

I'd refer all the Kerry voters to my posts about why voting for "the lesser of two evils" is not good enough.

If the military becomes over-extended, a draft will happen. Just face the facts. This is a black and white issue, there doesnt need to be any support from the population for them to begin a draft if needed. The system is in place for a reason, and they arent updating it and modernizing it just for kicks.
I understand the proposed bill was a form of protest, but it raises a good question about where this country is headed. Troops on the ground in two different countries with a chance of action in several other countries.

Exactly. If there's another terrorist attack (which we are assured is a matter of when, not if), and the blame is promptly pinned on some Mid Eastern state, then what's America to do? Call the militia to arms?

My friends are leaving the country! They're bailing out-- it's the worst of all evils when you come down to it- more people in on it than we know. Keep your eyes and ears open. Faulty voter registrations, now an election?

If the draft happens it will be because of the republican controled Congress, not John Kerry.

All branches met recuriting goals fo the last fiscal year, in fact the Air Force and the Navy have too many people. They are actually kicking people out or allowing them to separate early. There is also another program called "blue to green" or something like that where AF members who may be forced to separate are cross-trained into the Army. The point is this, there is no shortage of people willing to serve this country. Our military is a volunteer group and will remain that way.

Hey twats, read the fucking thread. Don't just pretend to read it.

hy·po·thet·i·cal Audio pronunciation of "hypothetically" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (hp-tht-kl) also hy·po·thet·ic (-thtk)
adj.
1. Of, relating to, or based on a hypothesis: a hypothetical situation. See Synonyms at theoretical.
2.
1. Suppositional; uncertain. See Synonyms at supposed.
2. Conditional; contingent.
God, it's like pulling teeth. Goddamn inbreds. Atleast he didn't ask hypothetically , "If Bush wins". Or you'd all be screaming, HE WILL WIN! HE WILL WIN!
As for me, it would either be protest/rioting/or leave the country. If I leave it would probably be back to my country of origin, Canada, or somewhere in Europe/Spain.

Thanks ASsman, I was wondering if Bob popped a trick question. Fucking unreal. The next time I see this shit happen, I'm going to type 43,268 letters, numbers, icons and punctuation marks randomly. I think I'm going to start a thread on why the draft would happen to see what people would do if Kerry did restart the draft.

If Kerry actually did it, he'd be screwed. Not only would he be guaranteed a one-term President, but the Democrats would be divided and extremely unpopular. It would destory the party, as well as ruin Republicans who would support it.
If Bush is re-elected, he could easily bring it back because he has his second-term locked up and can do whatever he wants. He won't have to worry about the repurcussions. However, whoever brings it back, there will be rioting in the streets and damage either party for decades.
It's likely it would be a Republican initiative. However, if there is another terrorist attack, or if the North Korean war drums suddenly begin to bang away, who knows.
I don't think Kerry would, because he'd be screwed in the end and he served in Vietnam and was a first-hand witness to the unpopularity of that era's draft.

I don't see why people make such a big deal about the Skull & Bones. It's just a secret college frat club. And after graduation, Bonesmen help each other get prominent positions in government. Sure, it's beyond preferential treatment and is pretty lame, but still, I think people should be more concerned with massive organizations such as the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderbergers, etc. who yield an enormous degree of influence. And of course, Lockheed Martin, the Carlyle Group, Haliburton et al.

Agreed. Follow the Money. Bill Gates lives a few miles down the road from me in the fenced trailer park, he doesn't give a shit about the Skull and Bones. They aren't influencing him. He's influencing them while shipping jobs off to India nice and quietly.

That's a good point. A lot of people say there isn't that much of a difference between Bush and Kerry. Well, just look at Bush's prime base of votes (Evangelical freaks), his social/domestic platform and then compare these with Kerry's.

Lowest common denominator between the two candidates. They're both old, white males, but so is my Grandad. They're also both Americans, and assholes, but how many American assholes can call themselves members of Skull & Bones?

'Asshole' to describe Bush isn't accurate. I'd say Nazi Fascist. And Kerry? I'd call him a compassionate conservative, or moderate Republican.
