I dunno. I like talib's shit.
mos def's album is weird as shit too.
I dunno if it is an idendity crisis or what.
Also, he should have just gone ahead and used the picture with
his face painted black and red w/ the red lipstick.
way stranger.
whats up with the wanna be artsy stuff anyway?
I still have to give both albums a better listen, but.....
they both seem to be leaning towards mediocre.

This is actually pretty hard. I've been trying to decide for like ten minutes. Damm you for wasting my unprecious time, Adam.

It's vurr close, but there's something about the Talib cover.

But, I do really like Mos' tag on his cover...and that picture is pretty sick.

Whatever...Talib it is.

I like the picture on Talib Kweli's better, but I think the lettering sucks.

WHich cover sums up the record best?

Mos's is BORING, its Black on Both Side's rejigged.

Talib's to me, just says "Beautiful Struggle"

Adam, this Talib v Mos thing is just gonna run and run isnt it?

I like the picture on Talib's, but as a designer I gotta say the typography stinks. Nice idea, but executed very badly.

I'll still say his though, as Mos's is Zzzzzzzzzzz..........

I love the font on it, its real clean and simple. Too often these days people are going for the gritty, dirty fonts, which are good, but sometimes a nice clean-cut typeface does the job.

Simplicity is beauty, you know.

Black Star is my favorite, but I won't let this die.

And Quality sucks.

The New Danger is a post-Love Below mess......

and Quality does not suck.

and Blackstar is the best.

and "Rape Over" should have been left on a mix-tape....

I think New Danger is one of the best records I've heard this year.

but I agree "Rape Over" should have been a secret track or not on there at all.

I still like Rape Over.

Just for the line 'Quasi-Homosexuals is running this rap shit'

don't get me wrong, I like the track- it just feels weird. almost like it doesn't belong on the record.

my fav line is "hey, little soldier, you ready for war? but don't ask what you fightin for."

The fact that Rape Over is almost a line for line remake of the Takeover means he shouldnt have included it on his album,

I think its very clever, it just felt more like a mixtape song or a secret track...

while were at it, the best track on the whole thing is "zimbalism" (sp?)

the real question is, should I buy "Black on Both Sides"?

and why?

roosta

I dont have the liner-notes, does Jay-Z get a song-writing credit for "Rape Over"?

"Black on Both Sides" is excellent, Mr. Films...

also buy Blackstar, both Mos and Kweli's finest moment (well Reflection Eternal is probably better...)

and get the Beautiful Struggle...

Does anyone like 'Sex, Love, and Money'

I can't get into it.

Definitely buy Black on Both Sides. I prefer it over the New Danger actually. Not hard rock like the New Danger, but I think his flow, the beats, and his rhymes are better.

I dig the horns and tom drum combo.

I listened to beautiful struggle and couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll give it another chance.

ps, on the bboys tour, Talib did Blackstar songs without mos- he just did his verse. He also did "get em high"- his collabo with Kanye but also just his verse.

the 'tag' on new danger is straight up doo doo. if it had been just that photo hands down it would have been the hotter cover. actually, both would have been hotter w/ no text.

I must say though, Talib's video for 'I Try' is one of the greatest videos I've ever seen. Seriously.

The new mos def cd is possibly the best rap album ive heard in awhile. Talib's cd is good but not as great as The New Danger
