I just wanna start by saying that it was GREAT!!! THE BEST SHOW ON EARTH!!!!

Here was the setlist for the show:
Eggman
Sure Shot
Triple Trouble
Hello Brooklyn
Pass the Mic
Skills to Pay the Bills
Super Disco Breakin
Shake Your Rump

Sabrosa
Ricky's Theme
Something's Gotta Give

Open Letter to NYC
Body Movin
Paul Revere
Right Right Now Now
The New Style
3 MCs and 1 DJ
Brass Monkey
So What'cha Want
Ch-Check It Out

Intergalactic

Graditude
Sabotage

The people were really jumping on Skills, Brass Monkey, and SWW. The highlight (for me and my brother) was.... WHEN I SHOOK ADROCK'S HAND!!!!
They did Intergalactic on the pier where the wheel chairs go, and that was right across the aisle from where we were sitting, so we ran over there. About a week ago, I found a nametag at school from Whataburger, and it said 'Netty' on it, so I wore it, and when they sang Intergalactic, we got right up to them and when Horowitz came over to me and my bro, I showed him the tag and he mad a face like "That's ill" and shook my hand. I tried to show Mike when he came over (since he sings Netty's Girl) and we were all trying to reach him, but he got mad and pushed our hands out of the way. My brother claims he touched MCA's leg though... Anyways, great show, thanks for the the hand shake Adam H, and sorry to Mike for making you mad. But thanks to the whole band for the greatest concert of my life

Nice quick response underdunk!

They opened with Eggman!?! I think that may be a first. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks to the Beastie Boys for such an awesome show. I thought the whole dog thing was kind of lame though. The opening act however was quite better than I expected. I will probably buy his album.

We were standing right near the quasi-mosh pit and were right next to the guy who got thrown out. I was sporting my homemade "Vote Kerry" shirt.

I got to meet unixguy from the boards. He looked quite spiffy in his green pimp suit and even got to be featured in the video shown early in the show. It just goes to show that it pays to come dressed to impress.

The highlight of this show for me was the instrumental portion. We all know the Beasties rock, but it really shines through when they pick up their instruments.

Killer show. The only song I wanted to hear and didn't was "Girls". Beasties are the bomb. I proudly have Licenced to Ill record album cover framed and hanging in my office. Mix Master Mike was kuttin' dope as usual.

I'm glad Adrock encouraged people to vote and I think that stars like him should help to improve the world in whatever small ways they can. But...the comment on thier political views was the only downer to the entire show besides MCA's sticker on his shirt. (grow up) Stick to the thing that you guys rule at, being musicians and save the political opinins for you friends.

Thanks for a memorable show.

let me just say i am so sick of hearing this! they have been speaking out against oppresion for years, and if you think the situation is any different now, think about how many times you have heard someone called unamerican because they do not support the current president. if you truly believe in something don't you try and share that with other people. if you don't you should consider wether you truly believe it. i think as americans we have an obligation to speak out on whatever platform we can about issues we believe in. i do understand because if they were speaking out supporting bush i would have an issue with even seeing them in concert. but either like them for what they do or you don't!

I'm feeling ya man it's just I paid to see a concert. He can speak out in interviews when I'm not paying him to be entertained.
I like them as musicians. I don't care about thier political views.

The friend I went with is a Bush supporter, she knew what she was getting into and still enjoyed the show. Another friend, a super-liberal, was (note was) dating a super-conservative. He got so mad every time the guys said something anti-W that they had a huge row and are no longer. *sigh*

Anyway, I'm wordy. Here's part one of my review

(sorry, if this is too long)
The Dallas show was so high energy that I seriously thought I could run a marathon afterwards.

As it turned out I opted not to run a marathon right then but did enjoy reflecting on the joyous experience which had just ensued. The dog show laid me way back like I was in a Cheech & Chong flick, really. I can understand people not getting into it but I felt it was good to enjoy the salad for what it wsa before diving into the main course.

The mix of pre-recorded and live video footage was very cool and Yes I thoroughly enjoyed the hearty laugh I noticed rendered from my gullet when the video of Will Farrell came on impersonating "dubya" and saying since he has come into office "things have been real bad." Also, from my vantage point, I viewed an envelope being thrown onto the stage, MCA opened and viewed its contents, then slapped on the "W sux" sticker. Well, a decent amount of people in Texas aren't avid supporters of the current (disputed) president...this moment happened between people in the audience who feel that way & the artists we were being entertained by, informed by our close chronological proximity to an election, which will more than likely seal the general tone of our country up for the next four years- the artists gave us their opinion. In this climate, we all have to expect for EVERYONE to be talking about this, one way or the other, to not do so is either b/c they are uninformed or apathetic. It is part and parcel, what America is but on the other hand, I wouldn't go to a Toby Keith show thinking that he would censor his pro-Bush jingoism in order to keep someone like me in his good graces.

My fiancee and I sat just under the wheelchair platform where the BBs came out towards the end for a song, which made our seats the front row for a bit and I had the pleasure of getting a real good hand shake & snap from MCA w/ accompanying eye contact. My fiancee was basically holding Ad Rock's hand while the tide of audience rushed around. There was a kid, like 8 yrs old or so, who I helped get onto the seat where he could be as close to the Beastie's as any of the rest of us. When I noticed how lit up his face was I had that moment where you look around and realize WOW this is all an amazing blast look at how much fun EVERYONE is having. We've been to a lot of shows put on by so many bands/groups and the positive energy level generated by the Beastie Boys was so over the top...it was a potpurri of fun and excitement for all ages, really.

The sound mix was incrediable. Their instrument playing had a very full sound to it: each individual instrument was not only discernible (where some bands have a muddy sound where it all blends together) but had a great tone to it, i.e. the electric bass shook the arena where the snare was clear and of course the wah guitar was quite articulate. Actually amazing that the detail was there in the instrument mix for a show so focused on the more purely hip hop portion...
The whole show was great and I guess I could have just said that to begin with and yes, I do realize what a marathon this 'review' has become...

oh and my fiancee is pregnant so really Does this show count as my baby-to-be's first show? (or the other pregnant women's baby's who were there?)

be good to each other, y'all

Wow...I just had a phenomenal Beastie-filled weekend. My buddy and I saw the show in Austin and then came to Dallas to see it again, just to make sure that it was for real! My friend and I have been long-time beastie fanatics and have seen them play a few incredible times, but this show was crazy! Did anyone catch the guy front row in the orange jumpsuit waving his prosthetic leg in the air during "So What'cha Want?" Yeah...that was my friend. He survived cancer eight years ago, but at the expense of losing a leg. He celebrated eight years this past weekend of being cancer free. He was worried the Beasties would find it disturbing to see a guy hoisting a fake limb in the air, but in my buddy's defense...It was his way of celebrating his victory over cancer. I guess what I am getting at is that the Beasties put so much energy in the crowd during their shows that people can do some odd, yet gratifying things. For my friend, it was an exhilarating experience and on behalf of my friend and I...I thank the Beastie Boys for everything they do.

hey man I SAW THE LEG! i was a few people behind ya'll. i saw the leg in the air and was impressed that whoever it belonged to was making it in that crowd standing on only one leg. it was badass. it was a nice addition to the show  this show was amazing. i got to meet up with unixguy (the guy with the neon green suit) from the boards, and a few of his friends (since i drove all the way from houston alone to see this excellent performance). they were nice enough to let me annoy them before and after the show. thanks guys! this show was great. and it was my first experience going to a show alone. it was kind of nice. i didn't have to worry about being seperated from anyone. but then again. i didn't have anyone to chat with in the car on the way home about how loud that fucking bass was. not that we would have been able to hear eachother after that show ;) , but it would have been nice.

I also went to the Austin show the night before, and then Dallas on Saturday. It was a great show too. I started out front and center on the rail, but near the end of the show, i had to go back into the crowd a few feet back cause the people were really pushing, and shoving, i could barely stand up. But it was a fun show. I was up front when they played Hello Brooklyn, of of my favs. It was so fun to sing along with all the songs! Yauch came down in front of the crowd, and he was standing right in front of me, but i couldnt let go of the rail to shake his hand or i would have fell (the people where freaking out to touch Yauch), but it was great seeing him again!!! (shook his hand in Austin!)

OH, the coolest thing was a few hours before the show, i was in line with a couple other people (i got there early) and all of a sudden Adam Yauch, and Adam H. drive by the front of the crowd in a golf cart looking vehicle!!!! I looked at them, and thought "he looks familiar", lol, then someone said "Hey!", and i yelled "Adam!", and Yauch waved at us!! It was so surreal and awesome! (y)

When the guy from Blackstar (not sure how to spell his name, he was cool tho) was on stage, he told the people next to me "Happy birthday", and then he said to me, "I saw you last night (Austin) you must really like the Beastie Boys!", and i said "Yeah!". It was cool!

Hi everyone !!!

Just got home from dallas !! whoo hooo ....
First of all i want to say milleson was cool and so cute .. ha ha
She seems like a really cool person to hang out with.... :D

Imuhsleep is cool too. She was just rocking along though out the whole show and when some fools started rushing the stage and trying to start a mosh pit i was making sure she didnt get trampled.

And i did see the leg too!!

(!)

Alright .. from the time I walked on the side walk around 630pm at the AAC it was on!! It didnt take but about two minutes for the camera guy to find me. He ran up on me and my friends. He talked to me for about 5 minutes but alot of the footage was edited out .. but it was still cool.

After we walked in you could just feel the energy.
Funny story ..
As soon as we got on the floor I noticed the guy in the blue shirt with the wig and fake mustace. ( coocheese from the video ).
we kept staring at him because i thought it was adrock or one of the guys from the crew / band. So after staring at him for about 30 minutes one of the girls we were with finaly went and asked him if he was with the band and he just told us no.

After waiting for so long i was tired of waiting for the boys. The opening act was ok but i just went to see the beasite boys and didnt care about anyone else. One thing that did suprise me was the crowd didnt boo them. There were a few times i have gone to see the b-boys and the crowd would just be ride and yell "beasite boys" the whole time the opening act was playing.

Finaly the show started and the energy just went though the roof. The show was great. But it seemed like everyone thought they could go upfront whenever the felt like it. Finaly i just stepped back a few steps and found me a great spot where i could just jam out. The bass was great and the band sounded even better.

After the show we waited for the croud to thin out a little before we left. I started walking around a little. I saw a couple of guys standing infront of the stage when the crew was tearing down. And this lucky guy was able to get the set list that was tapped to the stage!! What a lucky SOB!!
I wish i would have thought about that.

We finaly decided to leave and some of the crew kept staring at me pointing and smiling. I wanted to go back and say hi to them and ask them if they had a memento from the show. But we were already up the stairs and just coudlnt fight the crowd to go back down to the floor. THat and i was sure that the security would not let me go because they were really trying to clear the people out.

When we walked outside alot of people were wishing me happy birthday. LOL
that was pretty cool.

Just a few misc. notes here:

it looked like Adam H. (mca) was all about the crowd. Not that the other boys dont love the fans but she showed alot of love.

money mark was going nuts on stage. I really enjoyed watching him go crazy. He has alot of energy i want some of what he was having that night.

for anyone wondering the suit was not hot. But the shoes made me feet hurt. I was going to wear a wig that I have. Or the matching hat. But I just didnt feel like it would be a good idea for the show.
Here later i will post a picture of the full outfit.

man, this was my first beastie concert and it was unbelievable. one of the best shows i've ever seen! a highlight for me was when mmm remixed one of the boys's joints with the track from "dirt off your shoulder". it was just sick, even ad-rock was saying how dope it was while the beat just rolled on. i'm about 99% sure it was "pass the mic". mmm even mixed some old method man in there...tight. i sat in the section right next to the encore spot and it was sweet- i gotta a few glances from mca during "intergalactic". awesome show, i can't believe i never went to see 'em before. if i'm wrong about "pass the mic", can someone tell me which song it was? peace...

The boys were loud, the crowd was live! Great show.

I was standing behind the guy with the prosthetic leg in the air--he was the shit! Me and my two friends were there--we were dressed in the white painters outfits (we couldn't find lime green) and we got some love from the three during the times they were pointing out people dressed right for pageant.

We came up from Houston for the show, and I must say the Dallas crowd was probably the most enthusiastic I've ever seen. They can really have fun in the Big D.

BTW, my bud was the guy who printed up those "W SUX" stickers and threw them up on stage!!! He's the MAN! It was so cool that MCA was about it, and for those of you who think they should keep their politics out of their performance, I guess you didn't get the memo over their last 4 albums.

Oh, well.

I also went to the Austin and Dallas show and I must say Dallas rocked harder I think for 3 reasons:
1. The Boys played Hello Brooklyn and Pass the Mike in Dallas but not in Austin (However Austin had a great Time to Get Ill sing-a-long and High Plains Drifter dedicated to those of us that travelled hundreds of miles to see them!)
2. I think there was even more energy in the crowd,
3. the AAC is nicer than Frank Erwin!

I gotta say this was such a great show, however, my jaw didn't drop like it did when I saw them in Fort Worth in '99 when Mix Master Mike somehow dropped Rush's Tom Sawyer in the mix. MMM did drop a funky Missy Elliot at but Austin and Dallas that was pretty cool.

I saw the Dallas show. My brother and I flew in from Virginia and North Carolina, respectively, to see the Beastie Boys. This was the third time I've seen them. I saw them in '92 in Norfolk, VA, in '98 at Madison Square Garden, and now this show in Dallas. It was amazing. I literally got tears in my eyes when they came out and played Egg Man. I have been a fan for almost 20 years! I'm 30 now, so the Beastie Boys have been a major part of my life. I just want to say thanks for the show... it was great!

me too, i'm 32 now and have grown up with them since LTI. i feel like even though i have never met them, like they are part of my life. i can't remember a period of time they haven't been a part of. and i'm hoping my son grows up feeling the same way.

oh..... do tell.

What about this "after party" at the Lizard Lounge. Did you have to get tickets? Was it a surprise? Come on, someone has the info.

We went to the after party at The Old Monk. The band didn't show.

But one girl was wearing her new Beastie Boys t-shirt. I gave her props.

I think the after party was advertised - sponsored by a local radio station. MMM was on for about an hour. They sold advance tickets, but most paid at the door - well worth the $20!!!
