Oh mah Gawd, here's a little story I got to tell about 3 bad brothers you know so well...

This has been a most spectacular week, from weekend to weekend. It all started with the weekend of Voodoo fest (last weekend). The part about meeting Mix Master and Mike D wearing my emblem is only the start of things.

I left for the Austin show Thursday OCT 21st. I was between my home and Houston when my front drivers side tire blewout. I thought I was gonna die. I pulled over, hooked up the spare and went to Sears in Baytown to buy 2 new tires. That really took out of my fun money for the weekend.

The next day, day of the concert, we went to see MMM throw a set out at Waterloo records in Austin. While waiting around for the Mad Man to come on, I see Fredo walking around outside. I had to take a walk and meet the guy. Damn the man is down to earth. He even spoke to Laver1969 on the phone. That is what you call nice.

I went back inside to talk to Blackie White, just as I was telling him I would like to meet Money Mark. I spot him walking around in the store. WoW what a day before the concert. I got to take pictures with Alfredo and Money Mark. I didn't mention this, but I had some pictures blown up of me and MMM, and one of Jason and MMM and he signed them for us.

Ok, now for the Concert. I get to the Erwin Center and was like 7th in line. I got to chill with some pretty cool peeps outside.I see Jamie walking around with the camera and I decide I wanted to ask Mike D for my VW emblem back. You saw what the roving video had to show and that is pretty much how it went down. Thank you Marimanee for the inspiration to ask.

When I got inside I was the first one in the concert area, except for security. I go and plop myself smack dab in front and center of the stage.

I did get to speak w/ Ad Rock for a very brief moment, I also bumbed a lite off him. Yauch gave shook my hand at both the Austin show and the Dallas Show. Mike D came out before set and gave me the VW emblem back in Dallas, I was in a lost for words and said one thing that made me cringe after thinking about it. I will let those words be between me and him though. Yo Mike if you see this, sorry dude. I didn't mean to come off as a ungreatful jackass.

Oh yeah, My boy Ant got mad props from Adrock. He was good people to hang out with. The boy is a maniac, he knew every word to every song.

One more thing than it is time to close this thread up. They played a joke on me when I was waiting for tickets in Dallas. They came and told me the boys had over extended themselves and couldn't get me tickets for the show. Fuck I was pissed but I would have never let them see just how pissed I was. They came back after 5 minutes and handed me an envelope w/ floor tickets and pit passes.

Dog washing was fun. those were some dirty little bastards like Yauch said.

I'm so happy for you, man - what a great experience you've had. We did see how disappointed you were when the Boys tricked you though - it's in the shout-out vid! You are the star of the Austin and Dallas vids, I'll tell ya. :D (y)I haven't even touched base on just how great the performances were and how the crowds in Austin and Dallas gave them much love. The Dallas crowd gave them more love because it was in a much bigger facility. The Austin facility's acoustics sucked really bad. Dallas's sounded so fucking sweet. I am still in a loss for words.

I got stopped walking out of the concert by so many people wanting to take pictures with me because I was "the dude from with the Volks Wagon Emblem".

Thank You again Cey, Jamie, and Beastie Boys for making my Day, Week, Year, and Millenium. Much love to all you guys.

Pootytang, sounds like a great weekend. I think the best part (and under appreciated part )of the story is how you carried yourself through that " joke " about them over extending themselves. You were cool about it, a lot of lesser people would have blown up and been like " fuck them, that's bullshit." but you kept your cool, and karma definitley came back to you. you deserved all those great things you got

I just kept my composure and prayed to god that it was all just a big joke. You can hear my friend, blackie white, in the back ground saying that it was bullshit. I just tried to keep control and everything did end up going my way.

That is one of the only things that I am dissappointed about, not too dissappointed after the weekend I had, was that I didn't get them to autograph anything or take a picture with me. I am no longer dissappointed though.

I think Yauch just always looks at the best threads and I happen to always be on the best threads. Another way of looking at it is everything I say is that important or funny or crazy, it catches Yauch's eye. Or just maybe I come up in here and post too damned often. Who ever know's how to take a poll, please take a poll to see if you guys think I come to the boards too damned often? and should I give it a rest?

The Beasties really do make dreams come true. Just like the "make a wish" foundation.

They really do care. :)

Hey Pootytang, I have never met you in person or on-line but when they showed you on the screen in Austin, I knew who you were just by being on this message board- the internet is awesome, isn't it?
Well, just wanted to say that I am really happy for you. I am 30 now, but during the Check Your Head tour, when I was around 19, I had an unforgetable experience as well- not to the extent of yours, but it was cool. My buddy (who had met the Beasties several times in the past) and I met Ad Rock before the show and he gave us a few backstage passes. Just shaking Ad Rock's hand and accepting an all-access pass from him was unbelievable! Then later, after watching them rehearse, we all shot hoops on their portable basketball goal that was behing the arena. It's funny, when I watched the VW video part 1 and 2, I couldn't help remembering that day watching the three beasties along with a few of the guys from the Roots play 3 on 3, one- handed ( they all put one hand in their back pockets) My job really was to catch the ball or chase after it if it went outa bounds. Just being able to pass the ball to each of them each time I retrieved it was thrilling. Anyways, Ad Rock sat his sunglasses and his ball cap on the box I was sitting on. I thought for a second, I could snatch them and disapear into the crowded arena and get away with it, easily. But that thought was very un-cool and only lasted a second- I could never do any thing like that. That VW bit made me remember it though.

Man, they are cool, aren't they? I remember Money Mark, BoBo, and Huricane were really nice too.

Dude, that is an awesome story. I had a chance to still one thing and it was something simple, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Adrock lit up a cig and I whipped one out also and asked for a light. I thought about pocketing the lighter but just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Hey Pootytang...you should have waited until he finished the ciggy and the you could have had the used ciggy butt. ;)

On a serious note. Thanks for keeping me posted on your progress and for passing the cellphone to Alfredo. I hope I have half as good of story to report back.

I The Austin facility's acoustics sucked really bad. .

being so close we were actually in front of most of the speakers, it sounded good to everyone else.

I know that is why it didn't sound that good to us. I have heard from different people that the sound wasn't what it should have been, I guess it just all depended on where you were at. The audio from the show is off the chain. That person was in one of the sweet spots I guess.
