I was a freshman in high school waaaay back in 1986 when I first heard "Licensed to Ill". Great stuff, very entertaining for what it was: a rap tape mostly to piss off my parents.

From that first tape, I've been a fan. I came and went as a fan if and when it was convenient, but for the most part, I loved the B-Boys. My brother-in-law was pretty influential for getting me back into the Beasties - them and the Grateful Dead. But I digress.

I was sitting at home last Thursday night, watching the baseball playoffs, when I got a call from an old friend. She small-talked for a while, I thought we were just catching up. Then she sprung it on me: she has an extra ticket to Saturday night's concert in Dallas. There was no hesitation, no second thoughts, no nothing. Just when and where do I have to be for this amazing event.

And I'm happy and sad to say, that was my first Beastie Boys concert. Not my first musical concert, but by far the best. Quite frankly, the best time I've had in a while. The show in Dallas was incredible. Entertaining to the end. I think I heard every song I wanted to hear, and a few surprises. Opening with "Egg man"? Brilliant. The second act with "Gratitude", amazing. Not to mention the meaning behind "Something's Got To Give". And to finally close with "Sabotage".....amazing.

Big shout out to Steph and Ali and Jeff, thanks for inviting me. You guys are the best, I'm so glad you thought of me. And, of course, an incredible thank you to MMM, Adrock, Yauch, and Mike D....you guys are simply the best. Thank you guys for the years of entertainment and the incredible music. Music where I could feel what you're feeling and I could hear what you're dealing, thank you. There'll never be anything like what you guys have done. Peace.
