CSI is a very popular show, who knows, people might wonder what that song was, and buy the album... or somethin.... but that was sick... too bad the brother got shot in the neck... lol

Turn on your sarcasm detector.
And yeah there was a 10 second demo of different types of scratches. It was all sorts of cheesy though (the whole hip hop aspect)...it was like something that was geared towards my dad.

so i assume they must have approved this because of the anit-piracy thing. i mean after all it is CSI: NY, what do you guys think?

Guy, that mix wasn't that tight. Some people are like "yo, that scratch was sick", but really. All he does is replay one part of the song where MMM says New York. No offence to the song, but they could have chose a better beat or line to mix.

this just came on Spike network so I thought of digging up a 4 year old thread to say that the mix was pretty fresh. the opening credits started with the "Listen all you New Yorkers" sample and went right into the dj battle...

my opnion is that most likely "csi; ny" had permission to use the beastie boy song. i am pretty sure jerry bruckhiemer learned his lesson on using music without permission with the movie "Top Gun" and the song "you lost that lovin feeling"
Also the show "cold case" (another bruckhiemer show) uses popular music in every episode and there hasnt been any problems.
i think it is awesome that the beastie boys music was used for that episode, it just goes to show how big of an influence the beasties are in music.
