How many people are moving because of Bush's win? To Canada? or somewhere else? I know some people are doing that... people nervous about Bush instituting the Draft.

We, the citizens of Canada welcome you, if you want to be in a truly free nation. In fact, if your state wants to leave the US and join Canada we will gladly accept you. I feel bad for those who are now going to be stuck getting drafted. We have beer, hockey, and anything you have there, plus a decent, not great, but decent Prime Minister.

What about this, Thomas Jefferson was the first republican president, he owned slaves and didn't like big business and wanted a nation of Yeomen farmers. Has anything changed...yes!!

Well its the same with the democrats since vietnam, but that doesn't change the fact that your nation completely messed up that war on all fronts, including the draft. And that imposing the draft again would have much the same effect in Iraq.

Plus public opinion against Bush is higher world wide than it was against Hitler post WWII, so I think it isn't such an irrelevant analogy

It depends on what you're looking for?? I've travelled across Canada. Anywhere in BC is great, however, we have a shitty Premier who was charged with drinking and driving in Hawaii. He won't be around much longer though. Alberta is for the 20ish to 30ish people. You can make a lot of money there because of their industry. Saskatchewan, if you like wide open areas and farm land that's where you should head. Manitoba is the same, however it is becoming more metropolized. Ontario, has our Capital City Ottawa, plus Toronto which is a huge metropolitan area and has many different ethnic backgrounds in it. Quebec, both french and english speaking people are very nice, it is very much built around the Arts. So, people who are actors, musicians, etc. may want to head there. The Atlantic Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and P.E.I. have a lot of culture to them. There is a problem with money there, so people who are retired, or are entrepreneurial might want to move there. The Yukon is much like Alaska. If you dont want people to die for any reason, why do you support the Iraq war...are you saying that those who are 'enemy combatants' are not included in the human race. What about considering the motivations behind the terrorist actions, what about preventing another 9/11 by understanding what the terrorists were trying the achieve? Surely addressing terrorism is more about preventing the formation of terrorists rather than finding them and killing them.

If the US does not learn the human cost of their foreign policy (and this election has PROVEN they will not learn from anything except the most horrific of US casualties, probably not even that) many more people will die. A high US death toll now would hopefully, once and for all, stop the US from inflicting further and greater casualties.

At the very least it would hamper the US military enough to forcibly prevent them from repeating atrocities like we have seen in Iraq. (100,000 dead in each war)

Cold, hard, but alas, following the reasoning the US military follow.

1 dead yank soldier = dozens of living civillians.

As for endofmystump, you are talking about the quality of the healthcare for those who can afford it. Hey douchebag. First of all I am 33 and not worried about a draft for me personally. I am going to leave because the threat to the democratic way of life has now been perpetuated even further and I can not in good conscience stay around for it any more.
The mere fact that this man could win the popular vote in this country is mind boggling and frightening. The blasphemer is being voted in by the churchgoers. Hapless irony there.
I sat and watched my secretary cry her eyes out today for fear of not being able to afford health insurance anymore and I can do nothing about it.
My life is too short to have to worry every second how my government is going to screw me with my own money that wasn't appropriated to my liking anyway.

So, to all you conservative, bible belt, mush head motherfuckers out there, you can have the USA. Sit in it's lies, it's ridiculous hyprocritical nature, it's complete lack of accountability turning it's nose up at very thought of anyone questioning it's moral eptitude even in the face of hard facts. Whelp, that goes to show what I know about 150 year old obsolete partisan politics.

Although:

Many Federalists (including Daniel Webster) later joined former Democratic-Republicans like Henry Clay to become first National Republicans and then Whigs (the precursors to the modern Republican Party).

Seems that the Federalists did NOT become the republicans, but some Federalists, and some Democratic-Republicans *joined* to become "national republicans"

So I guess we have to split the difference.

Anyone who shows up in an emergency room in the US cannot be denied treatment. They receive the best treatment in the world. I won't argue the point further. Talk to a few doctors if you don't believe it.

You clearly need to visit more EMs, I know three RNs and a cardiac surgeon who would disagree with you.

Cuba does have a 100% literacy rate, which is more than can be said of the US.

And the Eloi didn't have any literacy, and lived in blissful happiness. Your point?

The point is 99.99999% of Cubans would give their left arm to live here and I don't care if the read James Joyce for fun.

It's probably because their literacy would make them more qualified than a significant percentage of US citizens.

The Only people that believe there's going to be a Draft are the people that fear it:
Mothers With Draft-Worthy Children
and
Pussies who are afraid they might actually have to fight for their country

It's called Fear-Mongering; You guys heard of that, right?

There will be no Draft. Ever. (!) (!) (!)

(Ever Again, That is) ;)

You are just kidding yourself. You are basing this on what exactly? Maybe that Bush said there wouldn't be? He also said Saddam had weapons and so on and so forth. I would gladly lay my life down for a cause worth fighting. I don't consider a "crusade" to be a worthy cause.
