...to NOT nominate candidates with ZERO charisma.

*sigh* Things woulda been so much better if it was Dean.

As we've seen on election night, the brightest best hope is Barack Obama for the party. He's pretty liberal (at least, liberal enough for my tastes) and he's managed to get a BROAD base behind him in Illinois (winning nearly 80% of the vote, even getting white rural conservative IL behind him, etc.).

I would love to see this translate onto a national level. If the party can do as a whole what Barack is doing in his state, the Dems would be handing the Repubs their asses time and again. The guy has brilliant ideas, is beaming with charisma and DAMN his speech at the DNC was the most brilliant political moment in American political history since... well, a long time certainly.

In these times of America going more and more GOP, Illinois (traditionally very Republican) is sure shifting to be all-Democrat these days (large part due to the fact that IL's GOP is very pathetic). That's one glimmer of hope in a sea of PURE shit.

So in closing, OBAMA IN '08!!!!!!! (y)

I still think Hillary Clinton has a chance.

I still think Hillary Clinton has a chance.

Fuck Hilary! (n)

The last thing the Dems need are centrist bullshitters like her.

I want true blue liberals.

If the demos want it back they'll just have quit running a nice guy campaign.
It is much easier to draw support based on hatred of the other guy than on based on issues.
Hitler and Limbaugh prove this all too well...

Stuping to their level will not solve anything. Have to think outside the box.

The Democrats could have brought Jesus Christ himself back to earth to run on their ticket and he would have lost by the same margin. Americans are scared. They've got terror on the brain. All Bush had to do was sell himself as the defender of the nation, the protector in times of trouble who's willing to go to war for his people - even if the war doesn't do anybody but bin Laden any good, at least he's showing that Americans don't just sit still! They gonna bomb somebody back to the Stone Age - and of course no wartime President has ever lost an election. Expect no less from a nation of agitated armchair warmongers. Bush sold the image, and Americans bought it. The Dems lost this election when the first plane hit the towers.

If they want it back, they'll have to hope America loses the war. Which at this rate might just happen within the next few years.
