The show was off the hook. Talib was awesome, played some of my favorite songs "The Blast" as well as Kanye West's "Get Em High". The BB were great, played everything I hoped for. Brief, a great show. It was a long wait since 97-98.
Peace

Yo Guys!!
The show was OFF THE HOOK!!!! It was AWESOME!! they did most of my favorite songs: 3 Mcs and One DJ, Intergalactic,Sure Shot, Root Down, So Whatcha want, Egg Man,Brass Monkey,Ch-check it out, Open Letter to NY, So flute!!! etc.
Sorry I don't remember all of them, I was front row, right next the sub woofer.
Man, i couldn't hear a thing with the woofer infront of me, but it was totally worth it because i get to see them very close, MCA was so cool to get down and high five everyine in front row.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT (for me):
1)The opening of show; when the cam showed them partying before the show.
2) Shake your Rump, Right right now now, Sabotage...pretty much every songs!
3)To see them so close
Embarassing moment:
when they did PAUL REVERE and nobody in my section know the lyrics!!! MCA looked at us like:"what the f*ck"? He was laughing more than he was upset.
Funny Moment:
When someone throw a joint on the stage, Ad-Rock took it and throw behind Mix Master Mike, it was really funny.
Thanks to the B-Boys, it was worth the wait of 6 years.
See you guys soon.

that show was the greatest thing ive seen in a long long time.
thank you beastie boys - i will write a real review when i get some energy back.
i almost got a setlist - but it disappeared before the end.
yauch is great; standing up on the rail a foot from me and several high fives.
thank you bboys for the night of my life.

c'est le fun , je t'aime , Le bonbon sucré ..... ya'll rock
when you got so much to say it's called gratitude ........ ;0)
Gently surprised .... i was skeptic about the lack of hardcore music ... but the king is dead ... long live the kings of hip hop !
just a little thing about this tour ... it brings back the hip hop to its essence ... the party, the crowd, the mcs djs and music ...
more fun, more enjoying ourselves , less gangsta shit, less gunshot into a song .....refreshing
Bring it back that old New-York rap!

The show most definetly was awesome.
I really liked the little video montage they did of Montreal & the bell centre (the venue)... It added a personal touch and I thought it was really cool.
All I have to say is that the floor was CRAZY, in fact the whole crowd was.
Anyhow...off to bed for me, work tomorrow.

ok i waited in line for 4 and a half hours, stood in the rain, didnt eat or drink anything and it was ALL WORTH IT!!! i was Front n Center! the show was the best live concert i have EVER been to, i was blown away. I didnt get bored once. I touched MCA(my fav. beastie) and Adrock noticed my sparkly gloves! Every song was played in the right order and with the right delivery. They had amazing energy. I must say they got Soooooooul!
Being in front was amazing, the down side was all the crazy pushing. I'm all enjoying the show, rappin along then all of sudden im squished to the baricade screaming my ass off. Near the end it started to get crazy.
Also while waiting in line i got to meet some cool peeps like Mike P. with the suit, he was so chill. Another fun part was seeing myself on the big screen for the shout outs... Tee hee! Our crowd was full of excitement.
All in All, The Montreal show ROCKED!!!

And I don't know how saying that the girls were cute is somehow disrespectful to them? In fact, I hope the girl in front of me in the line for floor tickets is on this forum cause I thought she was pretty cute (your friend showed up late!) :D
Ok sorry about that :p . And what did you guys think about talib? Sounded pretty good to me...

Having seen the last show in montreal, i thought a center stage was more fun. Last night's show was awesome, but the bboyz didn't look like they understood Montreal fans not screaming, not singing along...

All in all great concert, but last one was better, but that's just my 2 cents.

Hey, the show yesterday was NUTS!!! I had such a great time, can't believe i got air-time on screen - hahahaha, i requsted "Puttin' Shame in Your Game" (Aiiiight!).
I gotta say Mike D's rapping really impressed me, his flow, vocal ability, and personality really shines through live. I also got to give a nice firm handshake to MCA. My fav, however, was AD ROCK!!! He's got the illest moves. Crazy crip walkin', always smiling, working the crowd. He had a good vibe about him. Tellin' the crowd to stop body surfing was cool - seeing as all of us in front were dying, getting kicked in the face and such :P
At some point i got thrust into the mosh pit, thanks to the guys who saved me from becoming road kill.
PS: I wasen't feeling Talib at all man. He had no stage presence, i wanted to turn and talk to my friends during his set... But i didn't out of common curtesy. With a name like that (Talib Kweli) i was really expecting something funky fresh. But no, his show didn't live up to his uber cool name. Lol.
Yesterday, the best show of my life!!!
I've been waithing for so long, but it was SO worthy!!!
The dog show was too much!!! They were so cute.
The film outside the centre Bell
When MMMike came on stage...
The little stage with the lights for the band...
When they played Brass Monkey...
So What'cha Want (my favorite)
The Gratitude song in the pit...
And most of all, the Sabotage dedication.
It was a great show
C'était l'fun, comme un bonbon sucré
Beastie Boys je vous aimes!!!

The Show was sooo amazing. I've waited so long to see the B Boys. Let me tell you it was worth the wait. I would have to say that their show is definitetly in my top five of all times. Ive met so many old school fans of the boys which made the evening even more awesome. When they came back for their encore, I liked the fact that they were in the back, it was totally not expected. I will never forget the Montreal show...... My favorite part is when they sang Open letter to NYC, it sent chills all over my body....

When the comment can be interpreted as your surprise resulted from expecting most female fans not to be hot.
Sweet Lord! You fetched my message really far!!! you could interpret my message as you want, my comment was only to compliment the good looking Montreal girls. I did not expect to see sooo many girls at the show and they were hot!
what kind of world we live in? We can no longer compliment women? Then again, Bush was re-elected, so I guess there is strange people out there.

I'd say the highlight of this show, for me, was the camera work done on the screens. I don't think they were doing the matrix stuff for "so watcha want" in wooooooster. One of the best show ive ever seen....15 years rolling and they are still the best, so much energy and fun on this scene when those 3 guys (+1dj) come together, its insane. My favorite was Sabotage, very very intense....and they dedicated it to Bush :D
GO BBOYS YOURE STILL THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edit: oh and i dont know whos playing keyboard with them during the instrumental song....but hes one of the most intense keyboard player ever haha, people who seen him probably know what im talking about....
edit2: i think BBOYS found the 4th member,Mix Master Mike really is the best dj around this planet....ty miked, adrock, MCA and MMM!!!!
OH MY GOD!THAT'S THE FUNKY SHIT!
BEST SHOW SO FAR I'VE SEEN FROM THE B-BOYS(FORTH ONE)

I know im being a little repetitive here, but the show was incredible. Talib wasn't bad as an opener although most of the crowd was only feeling him on his last song "Get By".
Then, Mixmaster tore the Bell Centre down with his intro leading into the Beasties' opener.
Couldn't ask for much more in the performance. I still can't get over how well the boys rhyme over different beats...
Special thanks to Jamie for including me in the ShoutOuts video during the show with my "Funky Ass Jew" t-shirt, and also the Boys for rockin the house. Come back to MTL soon.

I was also at the Montrel Show! It really rocked!! I really like the part when they were playing instruments, I love that funky music! I've be waiting for so long to see them and I enjoyed it! A cool part was the introduction of MixMasterMike, the live footage from the backstage... they seems to be doing a big party there (real one!!?)! Another cool one is the "jam" they did between Gratitude and Sabotage, they seems to have fun and what they play was cool!
Me and my friend try to "dress to impress", we both dress like sabotage guy! (I know maybe it's not original, but the people we met seem to enjoy it and by the way, Sabotage is my #1 video overall!!)

Hey what's up everyone... first post here (actually second now cuz i just posted this in the ottawa thread).. the Montreal show the other night was absolutely ridiculous, those guys really know how to play to their fans. i have some crazy stories and maybe even pics from the show if they come out....and even after seeing them in nyc a month ago i'm now looking to go to ottawa tomorrow night to see 'em one last time before they're off to europe and all that.
so, as a pleading beastie boys fan, i'm looking for anyone that's driving tomorrow from montreal to ottawa for the show (and back home) that have 2 spots in their ride for some cross-country fans. cash is being offered, if you wanna split the cost of gas for the trip this could work amazingly for everyone....... and its the fuckin beasties.
thanks and to all that haven't seen em live yet YOU WILL LOVE IT.. peace

Hey we caught it on the bus ride from Montreal to Toronto. There's a seat up front where a few people were hanging out all night checking them out. But I was alseep in my bunk and missed them. Had to hear about it in the morning. And I've never seen the northern lights either.
damn i would have enjoyed that. i was asleep in my ford focus in some parking lot around then. (n)

Funny, I saw the northern lights all night inside the Bell Centre.
Seriously, what a great, great show. Energy, like the crew said, was very very high. For those of you having seen shows, the first "set" (before the instrumentals) was probably the best I have seen yet this tour. Nice arraingment on the setlist, and Sure Shot into the remixed Posse in Effect was the tops....especially that bass...yes it was like everyone said "off the hook"...although a bit fuzzy during some of Adam's deeper notes.
Between some freestyling and great mixing, Posse in Effect was the best track of the night.
Some other highlights were the requested 3MC's and 1 DJ, and Lighten up, which was a pleasant surprise to the night. Lighten up was extended during the instrumentals and at the end of the song.
MMM had a bad spell during "pass the mic" and I believe during Body Movin'..and was eveident with the frustration of the boys and MMM. Looked like MMM was missing a few cuts and was struggling to find the right wax for the track and a few verses were repeated with long pauses between lyrics...actually it was quite painful to watch as it looked quite amature for a few minutes there...but was salvaged with the strong finish of the last four tracks.
Talib was good, but looked more off than shows previously, and it was evident the tour is taking it's toll as some parts of the show looked tired. It was the first time i checked out the dog show...and it was worth it...
Yes, the crowd waas fired up, but with the exception of the surfers in the center, there was little movement down in front (yauch, where were you????..what happened to stage left???). I go out of my way to get seats on the floor so my dancing is not restiricted to "head-bobbing" in the seating. So when i was body movin', people around me were getting frustrated and putting up elbows and shit...get real folks...if you want to stand around like a statue..get a fucking seat...or go to the back. Overall, I have noticed different types of crowds at each show..all being a bit different. Montreal was loud..but you folks got to MOVE!
on another note, Talib was freestylin and said something like .."if you got the weed...keep it low....somthing like a family show"..and smiled. so I dont know what thats about...and i know he and all the boys smelled all my chronic all fucking night....sorry boys...the draft took it right your way.
oh and adam, thanks for the "Pass the Mic" dedication..although it wasnt crack, it was chronic.
one notable absence was "Time to Get Ill", and one notable embarassment was the crowds inability to carry Paul Revere.....weak!...and dont give me that I only know french shit.
Unfortunately, this was my last show on this tour (trying to swing Amsterdam) so i want to say thanks to all. For the most part the B Boy fans are genuine and sincere and have great respect. With a career and fanbase so extensive, your going to get all types..the good and the bad, the young the old...so take advantage of the scene, as you rarely see shows that diverse.
thanks for everything...hope to do it in another 6. (y)

MMM had a bad spell during "pass the mic" . (y)
word. i was watching from the backstage, side stage area....im rather certain it was his needles/tonearm on the left table fucking up...the right turntable was fine....but records kept jumping on the left, he eventually looked like it was fixed. how long did it take you from Portland to get there? my drive from Augusta sucked ass. i got one more show to go to for this tour....kinda a bummer its ending.

gotta disagree on them being frustrated. they were having some turntable problems. it skipped several times. but that was what made the show interesting and unique. i love seeing the record skip, mmm drops out the beat, they keep going a cappella, while he syncs it back up, and then he drops it back in.
it's completely live. and they are still using turntables. most other groups are rapping over CDs or worse yet vocal versions of their songs. sure the turtable was skipping, but that show was tight.
i didn't think they were frustrated up there at all. i get the impression that they love negotiating those little fuck up's. that's what live music is all about.

it did smell like crack in there for a minute which is a very different smell than weed. so it was very appropriate that yauch dedicated lighten up "to whoever is smoking crack." :D

must have been some of that junk hash all the canucks smoke..no offense, but y'all are hash fiends.
I disagree on MMM. whatever the reason for the screw up, i was close enoght to observe the tensions between him and...i believe mike and adam. Between the boys being lost on the verses and MMM losing his place, it was fairly uncomfortable to watch...they did looked pissed....and MMM certainly looked frustrated.
not to dwell on this because im sure it happens, and overall the show was fucking dope, but i did see some tension there...understandable...and have noticed the same in other threads form other shows. MMM definately made up for it with the Posse in Effect mixdown....that was HOT!
sethomas, I looked for you and micodin right aftert the set up front, as i was stage right (well actually stage left if your viewing the crowd)..hoping to be in Yauch's section again, but he stayed on the right most of the night. I noticed a few others from the board, but was reluctant to say anything cause wifey thinks im toally gay spending as much time as i do on the boards and at the shows, and she was with me. Im 30 going on 17 and dont regret a minute of it.
Yeah, it was a haul from Portland, but we made a weekend out of it and stayed at the dope sheraton a 1/2 block form the Bell Centre..and how fucking cool was the fact that I could watch football right in the downstairs of the goddamn Bell Centre before the show...and slug Canadians (the brew) comfortably before the show...nice venue Montreal!
did anyone after party???
we went to the lame ass casino and pissed away a few hundy before retiring early monday morning. wish i knew y'all were headed up as we had plenty of room....doh, missed Aurora Borealis.
so seth...one more??? Nassau?
I got no more time/vaca. Everyone said i was crazy for going on this quazi-tour, however..Im not sure how many more tours there will be.?? thoughts peeps?

I know alot of people are asking for photos but i'll ask again.
I'll remember that show for a long time but some pics would be nice. Would be even better if they posted the roving camera video. I was lucky enough to rap a request for Paul Revere wearing my lucky tuxedo!
Mike P, you have a very comfortable tux, and I greatly appreciated it there when I was directly behind you, getting squished by all the other fans. It sure as hell beat the barricade. :P
Sincerely,
The guy that was behind you the whole show.
The boys get a shout out on Rosie's Animal Adoption's website for their kind donation of $$ from ticket sales.

It was an awesome show and I've just recovered from some whiplash in my neck from the beats and rhymes being so tight!
My boyfriend can't stop gushing over the work that went into the visual displays. Shout out to the behind the scenes people who brought the show to the next level.
I still can't stop talking about the show... Between this and seeing the Dalai Lama in Ottawa a few months ago - it has been an awesome year!
