SUPPORT THE RESISTERS!!!

Canadian B-Boys fans, read this!

During the period of 1965-1973 more than 50,000 draft-age Americans made their way to Canada, refusing to participate in an immoral war. At the time, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau said: "Those who make the conscientious judgement that they must not participate in this war... have my complete sympathy, and indeed our political approach has been to give them access to Canada. Canada should be a refuge from militarism."

Thirty years later, Canada is faced with the same moral choice * to give refuge to those who refuse to be accomplices in the US-led war on Iraq which many legal opinions have deemed illegal under international law.

There are currently at least two young people who have made their way to Canada in objection to the US governmentıs war on Iraq. Jeremy Hinzman was a soldier in the 82nd Airborne Division. He and his family arrived in Toronto in January 2004 and are currently seeking refugee status. Brandon Hughey, a 19-year-old American soldier, arrived in St. Catharines two months later and is also seeking refugee status.

We can support them by signing the online petition: (http://www.PetitionOnline.com/resister/petition.html).
Also, if you're from Montreal, go to the meeting at McGill University this Thursday november 11th. A US resister will be there to talk about this.

Here's where it will happen:
Pavillon McConnell, room 304
McGill University
Subway station: McGill

After reading this message, if you decide to come en thursday, wear your Beastie Boys t-shirt! It would be great to see few B-Boys fan there... I'll be wearing mine. So maybe we could also talk about last night show after that.

See ya!

Better talk to your government, they're cracking down on that sort of thing. Seems 'somebody' (guess who) has been bitching at Ottawa to do something ever since the draft rumours started.

Didn't they say they would let dodgers be extradited from Canada, at the begining of the war. Or maybe that was on FOX News.

Paul Martin is no Pierre Trudeau; he'll probably give over more resources to shipping draft dodgers back south than to the beleaguered RCMP forensic labs.

They're like American politics, only in Canada they call it a moose rodeo.

all you have to know is that Pierre Trudeau was probably one of the best prime ministers we have ever had

and Brain Mulroney and R.B. Bennett were the worst

Why do you say "Support the Resisters"?

Fleeing one's own country to avoid an unconstitutional policy is hardly what I would call resistance.

The Canadians need to start stockpiling AP ammo for us...
