i'm the girl from the front row, stage left. we couldn't sing along to the song at that moment cuz we couldn't hear anything, all we had was bass! sorry excuse but true. the bass was so crazy my hair was actually blowing back. not all of the show was like that. but that time was bad, and gratitude. woah!

thank you for an awesome show!

wait i should say more. the show was AWESOME. there was such an amazing vibe. it's so nice to see them laugh and have fun with it. the performance part of it was amazing but the vibe was even better. and the whole mid-part of the show was like...incredible. couldn't have expected it to be so perfect in appearance or mood... anyway, it was great and well worth the bruised ribs. :D

the girl dancers--was that SheBang?

Was one of the she-bang chicks that VJ from Much Music? Jennifer Howlett? I was in the 300 section without glasses, and it sure as hell looked like her to me!lol

Female "break dancers" in between clothing change, these 5 females came out and breaked...or something that mimiced breaking.

It was more bizarre to see it in person.

i didn't think it was weird. i liked it. i think it was she bang. i saw them once at a le tigre show. but i'm not sure if that was them this time or another group.

p.s. that jamie guy with the camera is so sweet.

I bet! Definitely weird, for a Beastie show.

And that's just sad.

Exactly my thoughts.

yeah it's local so it's nice that they featured them. in my opinion.

I don't know she-bang, it just reminds me of Ricky Martin. Is that a local TO dance group?
All I could hear was William Hung singing when I heard the name. I assume they are Toronto based, though this is the first time i have ever heard of them. www.shebangcrew.com

amazing show. but i nearly puked when i saw jen.....aaaaahh WHY?

Earlier today me and my friends were talking about how UNIMPRESSIVE she is. the other girls in that crew seem fairly skilled....but i've seen she-bang four times and it's always the same! she comes on first, does something basic and then poses for the remaining part!!

Is she just there just for publicity? I can't be the only one who thinks this!

No your not, I thought the same thing.

Clothing wise, they were dressed in bright neon 80's inspired clothing, i wasn't close enough to pick up any details.

Normally MMM does his magic when the boys are changing outfits for the instrumental set. Did MMM do a set while the breakdancing was going on? If so, was it a "normal" MMM short set? If not, what was the music?

I like this idea as long as it doesn't exclude MMM's magic.

Yep he did a set while the girls danced, it was long enough for the guys to get changed and back up on stage.

I'm scratching my head about why they'd bring a female dance group on stage and invite people to remember the female dancer in the cage during the LTI tour.

The large majority of folks attending concerts today probably didn't know they did that. Don't get me wrong...there are a lot of old-schoolers out there. I was there in 1987 when they had the cages and when I read about the break-dancers, I didn't even connect the two.

I think having break-dancers goes along with the old-school/return the basics vibe this tour has. From the adidas track suits, to the 80s board games shirts, to 80s tuxedos.

So what did you think about their dancing? I just watched the video on their website...

Maybe it was the rubber floor, but it seemed to me they weren't sticking their moves much.

I was wondering if they were wearing suggestive clothes and out there to entertain in other ways than through dance. It doesn't sound like they were dressed inappropriately.

No, it wasn't suggestive from what I could see, normal breaking clothes, 80's inspired.

Jen from MuchMusic cannot bboy dance... she's too sasquach looking to move fast at all, it's like watching it in slowmo when she's up...

other girls could though, it was a pretty cool filler.

I think she was more into posing than actually throwing down.

Wow. I was on the floors, about 30 people back and I could barely see them since most of the time they were on the ground. I figured they were more for the people in the stands to watch. I saw some of their moves on the screens and I am glad I didn't miss that much. I had great views of the Beastie Boys and that's all I cared about :) ... should've brought the dogs back on!!!

Ya they had the girls at the Ottawa show too... not very impressive.. cuz a par of guys i went to school with back in the day got to go up on stage with Talib... he asked the crowd if there were any b-boys and they jumped right up... they were alot better than the girls too, and they just came out of the crowd..... so i think that mgiht have made them feel a bit shamed.... so i'm not really sure why they would bring them from T.O. to Ottawa... i probably would have just said thanks but no... it kinda distracted you from MMM... oh ya, Mike Broke a Cartridge when he was scratching about 3/4 of the way through the show... scartching sooo hard! ABUSE THAT SHIT MIKE!!

Who are you people comparing these bgirl breakers to? I thought it was a nice touch I mean, who hates breaking for cripes sake? Everyone's a critic...
It was that or sit in darkness for 5 minutes listening to some piddly musak from the loudspeakers while they prepped for another set.

The show was AWESOME. My sole complaint was the relatively low turnout and the effect it had on acoustics to a point.
