so i went to the beastie boys show here in montreal and it was incredible, however i was so incredibly disapointed and shocked when i saw that the t-shirts they were selling at their concert were "made in honduras"...now they say theyre giving a dollar from each ticket to charity....much respect....then they talk about bush(the present u.s. government) and what an ass he is and how ridiculous this whole thing is...i agree....but what about supporting a government that seriously oppresses their people...in honduras the citizens are held prisoners...they are not allowed to leave their own country...ive seen numerous documentaries on their situation, and its really screwed up and sad...they are not allowed to leave, but the situation is so bad there that they wait for the freight trains to pass and risk their lives at a chance to get out of there...they jump on these freight trains, their only hope for freedom...risking their lives, some dying in the process, or becoming paralysed or losing their limbs...and the journey only gets more difficult on their way north if they make it on. so whats up with that? wheres the love and respect beastie boys?

Did you buy that shirt in the venue or did you buy it from one of those guys outside the venue that has shirts 3 for 20?

The shirt I got at the Chicago show does say Made in Honduras.

The shirts I bought my sons from the website says 100% Organic and Made in Mexico.

Um... I dunno where you're getting this "made in Honduras" thing. I bought a shirt at the Montreal show and on the label it says the following: "This garment was manufactured by American Apparel in a sweatshop free environment at our downtown LOS ANGELES factory"

sadly but true....it is...i dont make shit like this up, and apparently im not the only one...so i guess you were the lucky one. and weather your shirt wasnt made in honduras and mine was, the fact remains that honduras is in a fukt up situation. its important to be aware of social issues like this, cause everything else we wear is made in countries with child and slave labour...its bugs the shit out of me, how good we have it here and how incredibly shitty they have it in countries like those. and i wish i had the perfect solution but sadly i dont...

I never paid attention to where the shirts were made from until you brought it up. I agree with you, but when I saw the shirts I was like "wow thats a cool shirt," but I wasn't thinking about how it was made, knowing how Beastie Boys take a stand on a lot of issues, including clothing manufacturing, I thought they would be the last ones to do this kind of stuff.

^ I doubt they are aware where a lot of these shirts are made. When they're in the midst of touring they can't be involved in every aspect and merchandising is quite likely being handled by a separate entity. I'm sure they'd be very interested to know about this though.

And for whoever questioned the originator of this thread, I have stuff from 4 different shows on the tour and when I checked all except my blue girly hoody were Made in Honduras.

I wonder if the company selling the tour merchandise is a completely seperate group from the Beastie Boys?

Then again, they wear Adidas gear and any of my Adidas stuff is made in China or the like.

I agree. Many of the shirts they sell on their website and on their tours are made in the USA by American Apparel and/or are made of organic cotton. Considering their involvement in boycotting products made in China, and their politically-motivated activities in general, this does seem fucked up.

Ok, this could go in circles cause if they are anti US government, why support US made crapolla? Its life to get products from all over. Once a boycott is announced, its nice to see someone stick to it. I personally used to be anti eating meat, but I chose to change my mind...is that wrong? Making choices is right.
