Okay, here's the deal.
A huge dream of mine came true the day right before the Ottawa show.
I got backstage passes to meet the BOYS LIVE after the show!!!!
(Piper Goldstein, if you're reading this, you are an absolute doll to actually have come through with your word by leaving those passes under my name and THANK YOU a million times over!)
But alas, this only fueled my already highly catastrophic levels of excitement.
As after the performance of a mind-blowing show (there really are no other words that can succintly embody all that Beastie Boys are to me, and have been, for the past FOURTEEN years!!), my primary, almost-there-dream, combusted right in my face.
I was devastated.
There was going to be no aftershow??!!
This was what I was told by three security guards as my friends and I waited after the Corel Centre had cleared out.
I don't think I have ever really, truly experienced that 'sinking heart' feeling in all my life as I did then.
My dream had undergone a rapid state of dissolution right before my eyes.
Now, in the aftermath, and the bummed out days that has been my life since the 10th, I'm seeking closure.
What happened?
Why didn't the Boys do the aftershow as planned? Or did they and was it just not meant to be for me and my friends?
If anyone can offer any insight to the matter, it would be so abundantly appreciated - so that I can begin to heal over my broken dream of an unused backstage Beastie Boys pass :(
With all of that, I'd like to add a little personal disclaimer..by no means, in all of my wallowing, have I overlooked the magnificence of the Ottawa show. The Boys exuded more stage presence than I could have ever possibly imagined and were so phenomenal that they superseded their own high levels of reverance held for them by me and my friends.
This was my first time seeing the Beastie Boys live and they ROCKED THE F*ING HOUSE. Enough said.
You know, having come so close to meeting them, I'm seriously entertaining the idea of traipsing off to Europe to find them in their next show...
(right, cause that would be two dreams come true and it would be exactly that. a dream)
