Grandma always had her 6 O'clock potato on the table right at 6
My fav is Garlik, leek mashed potato
roasted garlik
bit o'leek cooked in some butta
mashed pot
(tado) that is; you know what to do
butta
white pepper
butta milk or cream
salt
maybe even some horse radish (not too much)

rinse it and scrub it well to get off the dirt.
pierce it a bunch of times with a fork - say, 4 times on each side kinda.
then nuke it for 5 minutes, turn it over, and nuke it for another 3-4 minutes. if it's not quite done yet, keep on microwaving it, but be careful you don't burn it, because the skin and insides get really hard and crusty if they burn. it's much better if you cook it in the oven, though, but that takes an hour.
