Oh I'm totally with you on that shit. They are punk ass bitches. I mean THEY didn't even write the song, so how can they sue the BBoys for using it?? Doesnt make much sense to me..... :confused:

I don't think that the Sugar Hill Gang has a copyright to that, especially since they didn't actually compose the sample. But I am no expert on this stuff. I looked to see if the filing in the the Beastie Boys case was in an online database for federally-filed cases, and while that wasn't there, it appears that SHG sued Bad Boy and some other music companies for copyright infringement earlier this year, and they all settled (obviously the terms of settlements are confidential and not on a public database). Maybe it is just a way for SHG to get some money and attention, which is a bummer.
