All of this talk about the false war crimes against the U.S. has brought me to an interesting question. Why doesn't anyone here condemn the war crimes committed by the Iraqis? If some of those crazy fuckers kidnap an innocent bystander and cut his/her head off on camera you blame the U.S. And Ace42, where is the Geneva Conventions in all of this? Even if this war is illegal like you claim it is (I don't find it illegal), that does not excuse these people from their crimes. You show nothing but disrespect to the ones that deserve the respect the most. All of you that act this way are just a bunch of idiots with blind hate for the U.S. and you will use anything to include outright lies and exaggerations to prove your distorted point.

This question has been asked in various forms a million times. "Why weren't you liberals protesting when Saddam gassed the Kurds?" "If you don't support the terrorists, then why do you only attack Israel?" (etc.).

In this case, I think the issue isn't raised because everyone on the board―in fact almost everybody in "the Western world"―can agree that those masked terrorists we see in execution tapes are in the wrong. There's no controversy, and the subject is covered in the mainstream press anyway. However, if somebody were to come into General Political and state that "the ends justifies the means" and "they should do whatever they can to free their country" then I'm sure you'd see a lot of opposing views put forth by the local anti-war crowd.

I guess what bothers me is the fact that in the mainstream news, an innocent person getting their head cut off is shown in the same light as a soldier killing a person that was just trying to kill him due to the fact that these terrorists are strapping explosives on their bodies in hopes of taking out someone after they die or are injured. They know that our soldiers will search bodies for intellegence and this is a good opportunity to kill said soldier. And on this forum, these soldiers are attacked to no end while the murdering terrorists are excused. Do you understand where I am coming from?

Nowhere in any of the mainstream press coverage will you see her killers being described as anything less than "insurgents." Some of the coverage makes it sound like she died as the result of an accident or something. If it's not that, then it must be George Bush's fault for invading Iraq, angering the insurgency, and making them kill her. It's simply amazing that the leftist media in this country refuses to properly identify the enemy in the war on terror. They're too busy apologizing for the actions of the insurgents and doing stories about the "root causes" of terrorism.

Now ... think about this. A US Marine puts a bullet in the head of a terrorist, a terrorist he thought was playing dead. Just a day or two earlier this very same Marine lost a good friend to a booby-trapped body of a "dead" insurgent terrorist. Now that we know this, I'm prepared to give this Marine a pass. Good going, Marine. Now we see more outrage over what the Marine did than we see over the murder of this innocent, caring woman. What's wrong with this picture?

Though on the other hand, coalition atrocities are rarely covered in the press. This latest case is quite a one-off; the act was caught on camera, the reporter was aparently disgusted by what he saw, and he managed to make it a major story (through NBC, I believe). That rarely happens.

This post has let me see you in a different light D. I used to think that you were just another hate-filled idiot like Ace. I am now starting to actually have some respect for you. As for your feelings for your kids I will elaborate. My comments were not meant to take away any feelings that you have for your children. I respect you for caring so much about your kids. This country needs much more of that. I guess my point is this; the world has never been a safe place. At any point in history, people could have decided to stop having kids becuase the world seemed to be getting worse everyday. Everyday seemed worse than the day before. If they would have done this there would be no D. History tells us that while kids are weak and in need to be protected from evil things, they also grow up to be strong and are able to adapt and overcome these evils. It also tells us that some grow up to be a major part of the problems. Do you see where I am going with this? No matter what you do, your kid's future is going to be compromised. That is reality and it is a reality that has always existed.
