Got the new "New Yorker" magazine today in the mail (11/22/04 issue) and there is an excellent article by Malcolm Gladwell on plagiarism that includes a big portion covering the Beastie's legal fight in 1992 with jazz fluitist James Newton over the sampling of his work in "Pass the Mic". Includes quotes from the lawyer who represented the Boys, Lawrence Farrar, prof of music at NYU.
Its a good read about this subject. (y)

have now for 10 years or so, father in law got if for my wife and i as a christmas present, we've kept up the subscription,
even though i disagree with the political slant of most of the writing, it does have excellent articles, great movie reviews, plus i know whats going on in nyc (we make at least 1 trek to nyc a year, usually in winter/early spring)

This is Beastie Free, jerk. We discuss useless shit like 'what kind of soup do you like'?, and 'what kind of hat do you have'?
Daisy, stop playing Halo and move his ass out of here.

I don't know what's more disconcerting. Some fool criticizing you for subscribing to the New Yorker, or you explaining why you do. Thanks for the heads up though, I sometimes skim.

You'd know if you hung around the political forum. Asshole.
You could have just explained, but I guess I did call you a fool, and that was not nice.
I have been in the political forum just enough to know that if I hung around there my head would explode.
But now that you called my attention to it, I too am surprised that the thread starter reads the New Yorker. I thought you were criticizing the New Yorker. Wish I had stayed out of what is obviously a private squabble.

I stopped wearing hats, because they are too trendy but:
I heard Adrock likes creamy chicken,
MCA is a beef stew man,
and Mike D likes campell's tofu medly.
Me, personally, I like chicken soup.
The ruler of soups.
But this thread is in the wrong forum.
Will some one move it to Beastie Boys: Cooking Recepies, Non-Non Beastie Related

i haven't gone near the new yorker because it seems like a pretentious elitist magazine but i'm interested in knowing what kind of political slant they have because it seems to do a fair good job of dividing people!
