Remixing software

This is a pretty noob-ish thread,but i'm asking what software you guys use to make your remixes and whatnot to get the BPM right and the vocals synched up tight?


I'm looking to start remixing,and would like to get input from the expierenced users.

As you might guess, this has been covered numerous times. It might be a good thing to have a sticky thread on this subject. In any case it's still an important question for beginning re-mixers. There are some people who will swear by one software package or another, but in truth there are many good programs out there. And, as its been said, what you do with it is usually more important than what you're using to do it (within limits, of course).

I use ACID PRO, mainly because I've been using it for over five years and I know it inside and out. I also use Sound Forge for additional processing and mastering. You can download a free version of ACID from Sony which is fully functional but rather limited in processing capabilities. It may be worth your while to check it out though to see if you like the feel of it. Some other programs you might want to look at are: Abelton Live, FL Studio, or Reason. There are others too that I just can't think of right now. Many of these have demo versions for d/l.

How you determine the bpm may depend on the software you're using. Although, I have to say that I really don't care for ACID's "beatmapper". It's always faster for me to just tap it out on my drum machine for a rough idea. This always gets me within .5 bpm which is easily tweaked out in ACID.

So, my suggestion is to try out a few different programs and see what feels right. When you decide on one I'm sure people who are experienced with that software will be willing to help.

I don't remix thus i am shit and shouldn't be answering these questions but reason is brilliant. THough it might not be suited for remixes you can sample other things with another program called recycler with creates loops so you loop thing s and such. Basically everything you need but cheaper and you don't need to dust them.
