The Beasties were fantastic...I have never seen a live musical performance like that and am in awe. They have the same energy they did ten years ago!
The audience were completely disrespectful and ruined some of that. Between the elbowing in the crowd and the throwing drinks at the stage, the Beasties didn't seem to be enjoying themselves as much as they could have been. Especially MCA, who waited ten minutes for someone to come and wipe up the mess someone's drink caused on stage.
I wish I was home to see them in MSG, but I'm glad I went tonight because they are amazing.

Hehe, no...I got no money to fly from Brooklyn to Glasgow, I'm studying abroad here - that's why I missed the MSG show in NY :( I bet it was tight THERE, where people -you know- respected them.

who supported them?

I honestly cannot remember his name (and it doesn't say on the ticket), even though I liked him a lot, and his DJ. He only said it once. If you find out please post that information.

TK supported them and he was pretty good but oh my God - did the boys rock tonight or what?

That show totally blew me away and MMM on the decks inbetween the MC show and the band coming on was a sight to behold.

Its just a shame about the wankers who were throwing drinks all over the place - theres no need for it and it should stop now.

Oh, and there was some fine females at the concert tonight - especially the 6 foot blonde who was standing in front of me at the right hand side of the stage!

All in all - 11 out of 10. Awesome performance.

Glad y'all had fun! Except for all the drunken beatings and such.

Can't believe people would throw drinks at the stage...I mean, they paid to see a band just to be annoying and act like twats? (n) Here's hoping Manchester respect the boys more.

glad you had a good time despite the drunken idiots spoiling some of it.

They are definitley NOT Beastie Boy fans....they must have just been people who wanted to go do something that night and chose the show.

There were so many people down the front completely off their faces on god knows what...we got completely crushed and had to move (and by the way, there were hardly any Glaswegians there so don't have a pop at the Glasgow crowd people for being disrespectful!)

Still - the Beasties absolutely rocked! An amazing set also (loved that they included Brass Monkey!)

My husband (Batman) was also well chuffed he got on the big screen, and a mention from Mike D! :D

Manchester/London - you're in for a treat!!!! Make sure you all dress to impress though..was disappointed with last night's crowd (n)

A good setlist but ruined by twats elbowing and not stepping back a bit. I hate to say this but I didn't think the Beastie were enjoying the show that much or had much energy compared to the 1999 performance :(.

I was standing near Batman the whole night smiddythediddy, good to see you both got on screen :D

Hey

I'm disappointed people think the Beasties weren't enjoying the show - I thought they were fantastic! I was at the back, and so missed all the idiots, and was right in front of the boys when they appeared at the back to do Intergalactic - made it one of my favourite gigs for that experience!!!

Had to lesve just after that, though, so missed Sabotage....that was around eleven.

The show was amazing! I saw them in 99 too and I thought they had the same energy. I'm undecided what show was better, but they are some of the best gigs I've been to! As for the guys throwing cups, that happens a lot and it definately isn't just glaswegians that do it. It's not out of disrespect, it's just excitement.

Oh and smiddy I saw you and your husband down in front, looking very cool indeed! :)

Was definitly a Mad night.. i was down the front on the left side rocking out with my mate!
I'm sure plenty of ppl thought we was out of our heads the way we danced but ahh fuck it i had a mental time.. such a shame ppl paid to just stand didnt look like ppl were enjoying the show!

Shame im Such a short ass and i couldnt really see the stage that well.. so i was closer up the front for a but but decided i wanted to dance about and rock out so we went further back to the left side...

i was in such a good mood and totally tired that i didnt even want to go out after it.. just crashed in our mad hotel right next to the secc

The gig was absolutely crazy. One of the greatest nights of my life. I just cudn't believe i was actually seein the beastie's with my own eyes. I was a little disappointed by the lack of pageantry though.
I was right at the front! me and my mate dressed up intergalatic style, getting cushed against the barriers but loving every second, especially when we got props from the boys.
I thought the guys looked alittle taken aback by how crazy the crowd were, i hope it was all over exuberance rather than people being delibrate dicks though
Also, batman! that was damn cool!

12-05-2004, 05:54 PM
That was a quality gig last night, and one of my favourites of all time. It is the first time I have been to see them, and it is great to see living legends in the flesh, and even better to have them exceed your expectations! The cup throwing always seems to take place at gigs up here. In terms of noise, that is the loudest I have heard a crowd at the SECC.

Night was marred by Glasgows ridiculous streets and one way system!!

'mon the beasties! (y)

Holy nick, this gig totally rocked!!

I challenge anyone there last night to say that the Beasties are anything like past their best - too cool, just about flawless!!

Theres been beer throwing at every gig Ive ever been to, dont think its disrespect, dont think its excitement, just arseholes!

By the way - does anyone know the old TV theme that MMM mixed in with Intergalactic? was it Space 1999 or something - I know they had the big picture of the guy on the screen but buggered if I can remember, glorious anyway.

And big-ups to batman and backflip guy - tremendous work!

mention to the kid in the kilt too!

I was starstruck man. :)

12-06-2004, 06:55 AM
Totally agree guys - i think the boys tried but it didn't look like they where enjoying themselves as i have seen them 7times now and even though i absolutely loved the gig - the crowd left little to be desired!!

99 in melbourne/sydney was the best live gigs i have EVA seen - along with the shows in 94 and 95! The crowds where much better even at the front ppl had room to move and dig it up - taking in the spirit with your fello beastie addicts!

I TELL YA WHEN THEY PLAYED SABROSA - I HAD TO CATCH MY BREATH!!!!

You can't beat those instrumentals guys..... if only they had of played 'futtermans rule' i would have died and gone to heaven!

Aye man, throwing beer sucks. Obviously if you're standing with a half full pint you aint going to stand and try and hold it through a rocking beasties tune, but for gods sake, drink it or drop it. I'd rather have my lower legs soaked than see a pint (plastic or glass, it's still pish) hit one of the boys on the head. In a position like that, you couldn't blame them for walking off. There's only one thing to do - A kick the living crap out of pint throwers policy!

Beckalina
12-06-2004, 07:36 AM
i think wembley has a 'no drinks in the standing area policy' that should protect people who are scared of beer, actually does anyone know if that policy is true, i am sure once when i was there i wasn't allowed in the standing area cause i had a drink, though i could be lying again.

I figured most people just hadn't realized about the dress to impress thing. The outfits were home made, obviously, and were looking pretty damn good at the start, but they took the hard hats off us before we got in and the rest was pretty much torn off during the gig. You got to see us in our full glory on the big screen though!

well what can i say?! That was most definately the best show i have ever seen, without a doubt, they rocked! We were still buzzing in the car the morning after, trying to figure out the blurred photos on our phones, only one makes sense, when they came out on the float like thing for the instrumentals, that was awesome and sabotage dedicated to Bush, loved it! My first time in Scotland, big up to the hospitality, some very friendly people and gorgeous girls there!I thought the venue was quite good, although seeing a girl getting crushed wasn't nice, (she was ok though!). I think the show finished at bout 10.50pm as we were back at our hotel by 11.15 and that was near the airport. For me, brass monkey and paul revere were amazing to hear, so hard to remember all the tunes they played thou. I know where i was stood at the front right of stage there were a lot of youngsters (like myself) who just went mental man! I think they were just excited, and they didn't cause too much harm i don't think. Not keen on the beer throwing thou, i saw one lauch over my head so thats prob the one that landed on the stage, how could you do that? can't even begin to comprehend why thet is wrong in so many ways. Any way great show, see you tomoro Boys!

where do i start?

i was filmed for the show. the had my boyfriend (with the x-l tee on and the bullshit cd) on before me. i was the girl in the black dress with the gold spangly sequin scarf. my moment of fame (how cringy-worthy) consisted of "i think i'm the only girl here wearing a proper black dress. but i look like a sllluuuuuuttt (embarassed laugh)." fantastic!

ha, it was unnerving to see my face up there but it's better than the other crap i said to the camera. who was the camera dude by the way? he was really nice. i said i found out about dressing to impress on the website and he asked for my username, which of course i didn't give because it sounded nerdy. but he insisted that yauch wanted to hear about us! how cool is that? so i said hey, i'm nastee with a special "S". how wack is that? a special S! i was so glad that wasn't my soundbite on the big screen! ha, the shame.

batman was awesome. i laughed at the dude falling over as well. i liked the total ned girl with the big chunky necklace and crappy accent too, haha! i also got a shout out from mike d: "to the ice queen in the evening dress!" it was great.

the crowd was way too aggressive. just some wankers trying to get to the front. i have big hand shaped bruises everywhere from people trying to get past/stop falling over. but hey. i didn't let them spoil it for me.

i'd like to apologise, i guess, to the beasties for their behaviour but the majority of us were cool. i did see them looking a bit pissed off on stage and shaking their heads, which made me feel really crap. you want them to be having a good time, ya know? oh well. i had a good time! that matters!

it was totally awesome. and i spent fucking 65 quid on merch. ouch. talib kweli was great, too. i liked it when adrock's bowtie fell off and money mark put it back on for him. cuteness.

well, the memories still put a smile on my face so thanks a bunch. great show.
love claire xx

so you were one of them then?lol

i saw a plastic pint pot go right at mca at wembley last night just as they came on, he volleyed it and it landed on stage, he pointed it out to the other two and mike d then kicked it into the pit. Not good, and definately on purpose, adrock was only half way up the steps to the stage, whoever did it meant to, for sure.

I stayed reasonably far back, but more in the centre of the crowd. I got loadsa pics, quite good ones too, but I don't think I can post them. Also, go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 look at steve lamacq's pages and there you can listen to the set from manchester, pretty much the same set list, and it brings all the memorys back.

Yeah it was a great gig. Was really impressed that the fans were talked to and taped,as it made the gig kinda personal, and that extra effort on top of everything else is really appreciated. (Though why do i always managed to get the tallest guy in the room standing infront of me at every gig i go to?...) I'm having withdrawal symptoms! Don't be too long in coming back guys! (and cheers for doing Brass Monkey)
