what is semolina?

Semolina is coarsely ground durum wheat (also called 'hard wheat')...It's used in good quality pasta, and other things.

Semolina comes from the Italian, meaning semi-milled.

LOL@Beth

I've been living here five years and I still can't visualise it; I still have to use the conversion chart I've got stuck on the frdge!

I know that my main pyrex measuring cup has 2 cups eqalling about 500 mls, so I can sometimes just work from that, but grams... the only thing I can relate to measuring in grams is cocaine lol and I have surprisingly little use for that in my cooking these days!
