i know i did this in the summer, but...
next semester ill be back at work and be cooking at home a lot more than i did this semester. being that i really like to eat soup, i was hoping to get a collection of recipies together so i can feed myself.
all kinds of soup are welcome, ones with more or less generic ingredients are preferred. my budget isnt all that high, so if i have to go buy it just for this specific recipie, i probably wont do it
suggestions to where i can obtain a cook book would be great as well

I'm not a huge friend of soups, but there's a couple that I really like.
First there's broccoli and ruccola salad soup. You just boil the broccoli (approx. 1 head for 1 pint) in some vegetable broth for about 10-15 mins (depends on the size of the pieces) , by the end add ruccola (about a handfull), let simmer for a couple of minutes and then make it smooth with a handmixer. Easy piecy.
Similar to that is carrot soup. Boil the carrot pieces in vegetable broth (approx 4-5 carrots for 1 pint, depends how thick you want it, less you like "watery" soups), if you want, add some cream in the end and then mix it smooth. Also instead of adding the cream in the soup you can add some double cream when serving. Sprinkle some parsley on if you like it.

If you don't like tofu because of it's blandness, tofu and tomato soup will definitely change your mind. Try it! :D

If you had to choose between getting a blender or getting a food processor for your kitchen, which would you get?
Blenders arer easier to use and clean, and they seem to be generally cheaper and smaller, but they don't chop as evenly. Things at the bottom get pulverized while things at the top remain in chunks.
A food processor is a hassle to take apart and clean, it's always a mess to try to scrape out all your food, and they're so expensive and big. But they chop and dice and mince much better than a blender and they can also liquify like a blender.
