It appears America isn't the only country with a serious alcohol problem.

So whats your point.

I thought everyone could handle alcohol.

Do mean that you can't control it???

It depends what you define as "serious." Drinking a lot of alcohol doesn't necessarily mean you are an alcoholic. It would be erroneous to assume that drinking lots must mean there are lots of alcoholics.

Also, if you compare the tobacco statistics, the UK is nowhere near as bad as a lot of European countries, where they all smoke like chimnies. Binge drinking is the current populist issue that Labour want to jump on the bandwagon for. They would rather moan and lament "unsocial behaviour" than acknowledge that after over a decade of Tory government, and the best part of a decade of Labour government, it is a miracle there isn't a 100% alcoholism rate.

Also, it is easier for them to gain a revenue from people drinking heavily (through the recently doubled 'drunk and disorderly' fines) by having the police act like traffic wardens for drunks, than it is for them to spend money on actually providing supervised facilities (public conveniences) which were all closed due to junkies shooting up, and poofs cottaging in them.

So, having had a lot to drink, and needing a toilet, and not being near a toilet, they get to force people to give up £80 for the privilidge of not wetting themselves. Labour's usual extortion and populism.

Yes I was watching a special report about binge drinking in the UK the other day. I was wondering if perhaps this is a result of the problem.

They can't arrest, but they can detain for thirty minutes......until the cavalry arrives.

Kinda like a security guard.

Stop! I have a walkie talkie and I'm not afraid to use it.

With my trusty flash light I can see in the dark.

The life jacket is an added bonus.

The fact that they don't carry guns is a comfort in my opinion, unlike the "law" here in the states; who always seem to be willing to shoot first and ask questions later.

Well, they need guns since EVERYONE has one.

There has been much debate in recent years about the police agencies in the United States using an alternative, non-lethal weapon.

Hahaha, nice. They should really go back to their roots, and start using rubber hoses to beat confessions out of people. I'm sure Qdrop would approve (the rubber leaves no marks).

Among those tools are Costa Mesa's new, .40-caliber shotguns that fire blue, rubber rounds the size of a racquetball. The department also has five new Taser stun guns.

The rubber hose has "evolved"
