I love the Beasties, but somehow I can't imagine mingling with Slipknot's fans. . . . In the hot summer sun. . . . :(

after looking at the prices of tickets on ebay, i was thinking that i could sell my BDO ticket and have enough money to fly to melbourne, see the boys in another full set, and fly back. as well as seeing their show in sydney on the 28th that is.

I think your money would be better spent on the two sideshows, but I'm adverse to the whole festival thing, and what do I know anyway?

What is the vibe like at BDO usually? It's difficult for me to imagine.

the vibe is amazing, everyone is so hyped, a huge party, and i think the bands feed off that incredible atmosphere which makes it even better. they will more than likely be given the final set on the main stage, which means theyll play for hopefully 90mins.

ill probably keep my ticket, because im a big fan of the hives and the streets, so the lineup is brilliant for me.

I bought my ticket to the Sydney sideshow around early November, but I was away from my house for a good month or so. When I got back I found these warning slips from the post office in my letter box saying I had something to pick up, and that it was my final warning, dated about a month ago. So I went to the post office, lucky they still had the letter for me, cause it had my ticket in it. This is kinda my first concert too, so it should be good. I nearly went to the Big Day Out cause I like The Streets, but the rest of the lineup didn't really excite me too much. Anyway, I'm rambling...

I would love to hear from someone who has done this thing before. I couldn't get tickets mailed to me, which makes me nervous.

My only option was "venue/city box office collection" and I printed out the rules for Sydney. I think that it says you can either go to the Ticketek City Box Office or wait until one hour before showtime and get them at the venue. But it also says that the rules aren't always the rules and I should read the event page carefully -- it adds nothing. Can you get them at the City Box Office a few days beforehand? I also have tickets for another concert the night before so I'm sure I'll figure it out.

By the way, most of the tourist books on Australia (and Sydney) make it sound like heaven on earth. Maybe even dull. Then today I was reading a new one. It says:

CITY NIGHTMARES

When night falls, however, Sydney's wholesome, health conscious exterior begins to crack. From Thursday to Sunday the inner city converts into party central. But it's not all innocent fun: behind the festivities is an out of control drug crisis, a growing gambling problem, teenage drinking, and spiralling crime. . . . Aussies' famous love of beer has developed into a nationwide alcohol problem. . . . [but never fear] . . . People wanting to hang on to Sydney include Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe . . . .

I thought some of you might like to know.

Heh. I think that's a little over the top. Sydney is a very safe place for the most part. Like any big city though, the capitals here do have bad areas. But I'd hardly call any of them dangerous areas.

As for the ticket collection, picking them up on the day of the event is normally pretty straight forward and works out fine. You might be able to give them a call when you get in to find out if you can get them earlier though, that'd be a good idea.

Thanks. I'm getting in a couple of days early so I will give them a call when I arrive.

I thought the Sydney thing in the book was outrageous! I travel a lot. It's smart to be aware of your surroundings and safety and all that, but I've been to many marginal areas in large US cities and their guidebooks don't have anything like that kind of warning. But it things ARE bad in Sydney, I'm sure you can count on Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman fix it. ;)

is it ticketek? your tickets can be collected from their city office anytime after you've ordered them, EXCEPT on the day of the concert an hour or so before it starts where you get them from the venue.. I'd get them beforehand if I were you (just to be sure you have them)

hehe that's funny.. sydney's not perfect but "an out of control drugs 'crisis'" and "nationwide alcohol problem"? puh-lease...

is it ticketek?
Yes, for both my shows. Thanks for the tips!

BTW -- I'm going to have to be careful, because the big city I live in doesn't have "teenage drinking"!
