This was passed down to me by a very good friend a few years ago. It's helped me survive many a roadtrip and vacation.
Here it is, completely unchanged:
The Ultimate Ramen
Needs:
Package(s) of ramen (as many as you want, just multiply the recipe as needed. In my experience, Beef seems to work best for this)
Hoisin sauce (found at most any grocery, in the asian area. A think black sweet sauce, good stuff)
Sesame oil (also found at most groceries in the asian area. It gives it that oriental flavor)
Chinese Chili pepper Sauce (Optional; use it if you like spicy stuff. I suppose you could substitute this for pretty much any hot sauce, so long as it doesn't stray too much from the asian flavor)
misc. small vegetables (Optional; I personally use chopped scallions)
1. Put the ramen noodles in a sauce pan and set the flavoring aside. (you may crush the noodles, if that's your preference. I leave mine whole.)
2. Add water till it's maybe a half-inch to an inch above the noodles. Add the vegetables, then put over High heat until boiling.
3. Let boil for half a minute or so, then add flavoring packet and a small amount of sesame oil to taste (warning: it's pretty strong stuff, heh)
4. Mix, then either drain the broth or pull the noodles out into a bowl. Mix some hoisin (don't add too much, as it'll make it too thick and detract from the beef flavor) and a little spicy sauce into the noodles.
5. Enjoy the ramen, then sip the broth seperately afterwords (if you saved it).
THE END
