View Full Version : Bush Says We Can't Find Osama Because "He's Hiding"

President Bush said the public's decision to reelect him was a ratification of his approach toward Iraq and that there was no reason to hold any administration officials accountable for mistakes or misjudgments in prewar planning or managing the violent aftermath.
"We had an accountability moment, and that's called the 2004 elections," Bush said in an interview with The Washington Post. "The American people listened to different assessments made about what was taking place in Iraq, and they looked at the two candidates, and chose me."
As for perhaps the most notorious terrorist, Osama bin Laden, the administration has so far been unsuccessful in its attempt to locate the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Asked why, Bush said, "Because he's hiding." While some terrorism experts complain U.S. allies, such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, could do more to help capture the al Qaeda leader, Bush said he could not name a single U.S. ally that is not doing everything possible to assist U.S. efforts.

well, he sure knows how to hide
but now that US gov. did not find Bin Laden before the 04 elections, I'm pretty sure they actually don't know where he is/ if he is still alive

Good call I was really expecting them to miraculously "find" him just before the election.

Hahaha, and all this time I thought we couldn't find him because we were incompetent twats.
My bad, that's the reason all those explosives dissapeared under US guard. Fucking morons.

Wababababa. Shut the fuck up, idiot. Learn something about what you speak of, BEFORE you speak of it.
If they find Osama, the game is over. My thoughts, they know where he is. As long as Osama is on the loose the "War on Terror" can continue for as long as they want. They can invade countries, and abuse the American people, and basically do whatever they want (for the security of the US, of course ;)).

Maybe some of our allies are doing what they can, but the Bush administration is doing practically nothing to find him. This is according to his own former Chief Counterterrorism advisor(CTA), and the former head of the CIA's Bin Laden Task Force who resigned about a week after Bush's re-election. Mike Scheuer was the head guy involved in the tracking of Bin Laden and he has spoken publicly since his resignation about how the Bush administration just blew off Bin Laden even right after 9/11. Richard Clarke, Bush's CTA said the day after 9/11 they didn't even want to go after him, they just wanted to bomb Iraq.
Rumsfeld: We should bomb Iraq
Clarke: But Al-Qaida isn't in Iraq, its in Afghanistan
Rumsfeld:Yeah, but there are no good targets in Afghanistan, there are plenty of good targets in Iraq
Clarke has said publicly that the only reason they sent any forces into Afghanistan was to make it look like they actually cared about terrorism. If they hadn't gone in, it would have been political suicide. At its peak number, the US military had less soldiers in Afghanistan than Manhattan had cops. That's just one borough. How the hell do you expect to find OBL if one city borough has more cops than there are soldiers in a country that's almost as big as Texas. Clarke should know about this since he has only been a key advisor in the White House since the first Bush administration. He was considered the 9/11 commission's star witness. His book that he put out before he even testified to the commission reads almost just like the report, except that Clarke is willing to point fingers at specific people while the 9/11 commission wouldn't.
Bush doesn't care about protecting America. He only cares about his power, and his corporate backers.

Meh.. and do what with him.. Kill him? He will be a martyr. Put him on trial? If he has a proper lawyer I don't see how he could lose..Or a bullshit puppet trial, in which case it will be another case of US hypocrisy. They can do what they wan't with him, it's much bigger than him now. They can stop it by simply cutting the head off, it will grow a new one.

Assman is right, cutting off the head does not destroy the body. If we ever do capture Bin Laden, the worst thing we could do would be to execute him. Like Assman said, he would become a martyr. You can destroy a hero, but you can't touch a martyr. However, it is important for him to be caught. While he is no longer the lone wolf heading this group, taking him out of operation would still be a significant blow to the organization simply because they would lose his experience and all the assets he brings to the table. If he was brought to trail, even with a great lawyer, there is pretty much no way he would get off. Especially since he has recently released video tapes of himself taking credit for the attacks. If he were given a trial, I don't think there would be too much controversy if he were convicted, only if he were given a death sentence. People who oppose capital punishment on moral grounds would cry evil; however, most of the people who are actually experts in terrorism would oppose it because of his potential martyr status, and they would want the opportunity to try to get info out of him while he was in prison. Often the best interrogations are not pressured but are casual conversations where something accidently slips out.

i bet they have secret underground evil poker games
(btw, loppfessor, i used the verb "to find" but i actually meant "to show the world they had him", my bad. I wanted to refer to the docu of some french reporters claiming Us gov. knows(or knew) the exact position of OLB but did not take action untill the right timing. My theory is that the right timing would have been BEFORE 04 elections, so now I just think the US military is totally incompetent, not being able to find 1 man)

I declare OBL the worlds greatest Hide and seek player...
I declare OBL the worlds greatest Hide and seek player...Bush needs him At Large, or who's he gonna frighten you with? Having a shadowy, well-financed, world-wide terrorist group in existence is the perfect excuse to take away your rights, arrest and torture anyone and everyone they want. Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay are just the beginning. Expect dissenters to be taken away in the middle of the night and never heard from again, very, very soon.

This is bullcrap what Bush is doing, man. If Osama Bin Ladin really is hiding (which I doubt he is, he's probably being kept safe by Bush or something), Bush should get off his lazy ass and do something.

Well, we'd go out and find him, but according to Bush in 2003 "We don't know where he is, and we don't care."
Yeah, the #1 terrorist at large is not a priority in the War on Terror. Moore actually brought up a good point in his book...the War on Terror is just like the War on Poverty, or the War on Drugs. There's no viable living target to go after, because it's a war on a concept. It'll always fail and waste billions of dollars in the long run.
