Today I Was watching the 2 Dollar Bill Concert in Vegas that the BB did for MTV.
And i noticed in basically every song they kept changing the whole beat for every different verse for e.g. they were playing Pass The Mic witht he original beat then after the first chorus, Mike changed the beat to Dirt Off ya Shoulder Beat by Jay-Z which made the song alot worse and didn't have the same vibe.

So I'm asking people who have been to BB concerts if they do that every song?

Thankyou in Advance.

After listening to a song a thousand times, especially one that has never
been really been remixed, cool to hear Mixmaster Mike rip it up a little
for the '05.

Besides, it's funny when he throws a beat on that is too fast, like he
inevitably does, and the beasties stumble over it for a minute getting used
to it. You know, the shit that almost got him fired back in '99-2000...

MMM usually doesn't switch up the TT5B stuff too much.

I was watching a recorded concert I'd downloaded recently where MMM switched a lot of the beats, and I didn't think it sounded too good at all. But live at the Sydney concert it was cool when he did all that. Not sure why, but to me it worked much better live.

i remember being a bit bummed at first about the beat change during live songs but then i realized when you're actually at the show jumpin' to the music it's really nice to have the beat change up all the time. you really get into it. but when you're listening to a recording of a show, it's different and sometimes it might not be appreciated as much when the beat changes. but since it should be all about the feeling you get when you're at the show and not listening to it afterwards i think mix master is doing the right thing.

It could be pure bullshit, and I'm not trying to slander any of them on here,
but I read quite frequently online (before the creation of this particular
BBS & forum) that they were really not feeling his beat jacks & juggling,
and it showed. What little live performances you could catch on TV at the
time seemed to reflect their distaste with how M3 would pick out a random
breakbeat and throw it on after scratching the shit out of it, and the boys
would have to jump on it and rhyme. It still happens, and they all seem to
be pretty good natured about it now. But, you read alot of shit online, and
so who knows.

Personally, I welcomed the change, Hurricane never really stepped outside
of his usual scratch patterns and rarely ever brought a different beat to the
live game.

Ah I see, does sound like a pretty tentative rumour.

I love the beat changing. For example I love the live version of Intergalactic, and some of the Bhangra beats he's used on various tracks too. Much prefer it to hearing the album version.

I mean what do people go to see live music for? To hear the absolute perfect replication of the albums they've bought or to see the artists live, doing their thing?

Hit the nail on the head mister! I can't get enough of their live stuff, specially the recent stuff, since MMM been on the decks he's really brought a new dimension to their performances. Any some of the breaks he uses really compliment the original song anyway, there's all sorts thrown in the act, and if you just want to hear the album versions well thats boring if you ask me!
