that dress i got a few pages back - when it arrived it was horrible! horrible! but i managed to find a gorgeous new dress from monsoon for £19.95 (reduced from £65!) so i was happy. it is a very light lilac colour - almost grey, but not.

the problem is now - SHOES. grey, silver, sequins?

i have seen these and absolutely fallen in love with them but scared they might be a bit, uh, loud and possibly tranny-ish. opinions?

This beats getting a shirt that says, "Military Momma" or "My Son's Got Your Back" or "I Don't Have a Yellow Ribbon Tied Around My Tree, I Have One Tied Around My Heart", or, God, ones with entire poems--terribly wordy and cheesy poems--written on the front that continue on the back and that are printed against a backdrop of soaring eagles and waving flags and that are enormous in size.

I lucked out with this one and it fits.

IMO when it comes to shoes you can buy the ugliest, loudest, most obnixous heals / gymshoes but it all comes down to what you pair them with. If I had these shoes that you bought, I'd wear a very subdued outfit and let them be the main focus of the outfit. Nastee....the new rules are, there are no rules! If you like them, buy them. thanks! very helpful.
yeah, my idea was to make the shoes the "feature" and keep the dress simple. the dress is just basically a plain pale lilac dress with a silk lilac ribbon under the bust. so if i keep the accessories to the minimal and just go for the BLING! I'VE ARRIVED! factor with the shoes.
i also think the would look awesome with a little black dress.
oooh, thanks!

believe it or not, i was actually looking forward to your reply. i wasn't exactly sure how you'd respond, but i'm stoked with how you did.

she rides like a dream. the disc brake upgrade worked out to be a mere $85 more. i don't care if it's gimmicky or not, they look bad ass. if i wanted to upgrade to discs later, it'd be substantially more. for $419 out the door i feel i got a fair deal. (its brand new and not stolen) 1 yr. warranty (lifetime on the frame), 30-90 day tune ups etc.

as far as upgrades go, i'm anxious to get these:

http://i19.ebayimg.com/02/i/07/e8/ce/f1_1.JPG

as soon as i get a bank account / cheque card. the price seems right ($19.99) and the stock pedals are total shite.

word. fuck a car payment, fuel, insurance and a protective steel shell to shield you from undesirables, i'll just pedal faster.

TurdBerglar

disk brakes are not gimmicky. im a bit jealous i do not have a set.

i would seriously consider clipless peddles/shoes. they can be a bit unsettling at first but once you get use to them you can peddle like a mad man and have loads more control over the bike.

and you have what seems to be a very good bike for the price. good buy

are those tubeless rims/tires?

and what's great about lifetime warranties is when a new model comes out to replace your's, you can "break" your current frame and get the next years frame. the dealership will usuall never question you about how it broke as long as it looks like a natural brake.

synch

Cool, they still use the same names they used when I was into ATB's.

The Specialized were always too expensive for me. I ended up with a crappy Giant with a Shimano 300 set. When it got stolen I got it replaced with a more expensive Giant Track with Shimano 500. Big improvement.

all good points. i'm not sure how i feel about the clipless peddle /shoes tho. i was looking at some crank brothers' 50/50s. you know in case i wanted to do like some can/can action off super high dirt kickers. :D outside of peddles all i can see adding is some lights (required) and maybe a new saddle, down the road.

ks: thanks. the ride is a lot smoother than the trek 800 it replaced, but on my initial ride, understanding the gears took some getting used to. are there drain pipe style seat posts (bent aft) available for mtn bikes, like DYNO used to have for bmx? i think i'd like to sit a little farther back. when i parked it in the hangar at work a small crowd gathered around, lifting and inspecting it. i was surprised, it caught that much attention.

i'm really happy with the purchase and the lack of car payments i won't be making for awhile. i've also dropped down to 172.5 lbs in the AM and about 174 lbs in the evening from a heavy 183lbs back in january. i'm looking forward to breaking into the mid 160s.

TurdBerglar

i have never seen a bmx style seat post with the diameters that are used in mountain bike seat posts. then again i have never looked. im sure there's something out there. maybe for downhill mountain bikes.

i've been researching routers for bloody ages and have long given up on the hope of getting one which has had absolutely nay of a bad word said against it, so don't even diss netgear or this particular router if you have had bad experience of it! seems one of the 'best' in most places i've read. and anyway, it's not like i can return it!

i get confused easily. apparently it won't work with talk talk but people on some forums are like "i see it isn't designed for PPPoA - but i don't know how this is possible since any connected ADSL router authenticates the stream using PPPoA and the router simply routes the already authenticated stream wirelessly" etc etc etc and i'm just like  whatever, dude.

seriously pissed off.

so, today was noelle's 8th birthday. toby had a party for her at build-a-bear. i pretty much forced bobby to come. belly was really happy he came though, and that's what really matters. there were several painful issues over the whole mom thing, because toby's girlfriend had driven belly to the party and we showed up shortly thereafter. one woman said to another mom, kind of loud, "yeah, i was talking to her (referring to the girlfriend) the whole time thinking she was the mom." i felt bad for the girlfriend for that. i think people were having a hard time understanding that while we're divorced, we all get together for occasions and get along quite well.

anyway, here's the bear i got. i wasn't going to do it, but i got kinda caught up in it, and i'll always be able to look at it and remember what it was like when she was 8. i named it belly, since it was belly's party.

I've been looking for this CD (at a reasonable price) for ages. (Right now it's $50 on E-bay, $87 on Amazon.)

Yesterday I just happened to glance from the Z section over at the Compilations section and there it was, right in front, $7.95.

Plus I had a dollar off coupon. (y)

i didn't even get to post my gorgeous parisien purchases yet and already my lovely lucie is dead! DEAD! (by this i mean my umbrella, as all 2 of you who have read my myspace will know) she died in a nasty wind accident. it just started hailing like a motherfucker and i don't even want to predict just how furious i will be for the rest of the rainy season (read: forever) in scotland if i don't keep myself dry so immediately went online and bought another one.

motherfuckers keep on being blown inside out again and again so i've decided that the way forward is one of those bubble/dome umbrellas so that the wind is less, er, likely to get under it and promote that sort of reaction... or something.

anyhoo, i got this one cos it is pretty:

Saw this ad in the paper today: 50's style black lace dress for 198,- SEK for one day only
http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/6085/nyedressrf7.jpg
so I went and bought it...
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/4615/nyedresshq1.jpg
luckily it's got better colour underneath than on the add. It's a bit tight and makes my boobs too flat so I gotta fix it a little.
I bought it for New Years Eve as I'm gonna party in Helsinki, the best parties ever (and now three of us have become singles the last six months so were gonna party like it's 1999! :p )

and while I was strolling down Queen Street found this cheap book store with both new and used so got myself books on Dalai Lama, Skansen (open air museum/zoo in Sthlm) Gardens, Helen Schjerfbeck self portraits and of Latin Kings.

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/7173/joulukirjatvv5.jpg

And then I got a DVD for my friend in Finland. She's been looking for the original Cat people on DVD for years and now I found a box full of horror stories! In a way I wish she can't play region 1 in her DVD player.....
