Holy Shit - I'm Famous - Photos of Me and Dave Gahan on Getty Images

You guys are so not gonna believe this -

Almost one year ago March 1, 2004 I went to meet my idol Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode at an autograph signing.

While I was on line this guy with a camera (who said he was shooting publicity photos for the record company) asked permission to take my picture - so I said sure.

I never knew what happened to those photos - I checked DaveGahan.com and it was'nt on there.

Now nearly one year later I discovered that my photos are on Getty Images.

All I have to say is HOLY SHIT!

Perhaps it's my reward for being a devoted DM fan for over 15 years.
I was the only one who brought him flowers (that's 1 dozen red roses in that pic). Plus I dressed to impress - even though I forgot to take my glasses off in those pics - I have a better photo of me and Dave - where I have my hair down and no glasses.

To be honest, and I love dave to pieces, it's not that great. The only really good song on it is - "Dirty, Sticky, Floors." I like the Martin Gore album better - but martin's album is a bit weird - it's all obscure cover songs and While I totally love his voice and the album - its an aquired taste - and not for everyone

Here's a photo of me (without the glasses and my hair down) that my friend took. We got on line to meet Dave and after he gave us the autographs - we got back on line and met him again ( we did'nt ask him for more autographs - we just wanted to take more photos just in case the first few did'nt come out). The line looks long in the pic - but its really only about 75-100 people max. btw that blue thing in the pic - is my jacket - I tied it around my backpack strap because I did'nt want to wear it for the photo and there was no safe place to put it - and my friend could'nt hold it cuz he was taking the photos.

Dave does look amazing. It's hard to believe he's over 40. He's aged pretty well considering he went through some rough times - especially during "songs of faith and devotion," when he was taking all kinds of drugs including heroin - and he overdosed once - flatlined for a minute and nearly died.

You know when you love a band for such a long time - you never really believe you are gonna meet them (at least I did'nt) I mean I've been listening to dave since I was 12 and met him when I was 25 - that quite a long wait - worth it though.

Also there is that fear when u idolize someone that they will never live up to your expectations in person. I have to say Dave was really sweet, quiet, and reserved - he's nothing like the wildman he is on stage. so it was a little strange discovering that, but i was still glad that he's so nice to his fans.
