yeah, great fucking show. so much better when every1 is there for the boys. bdo alot of ppl had no idea about all the jokes and shit they were doing. shit weather though, and also hahaha i have lost my ID, so I had to go through all this shit, and they wouldnt let me into general so i had to go up into the stands. talk about shit. ahh well, was soon forgotten in the b-boys performance. and MMM is the best DJ ever. anywhere. ever ever. money mark is a legend too!!

gotta agree that 2XBEASTIEBOYS LIVE IN MELBOURNE2005 = WICKED.

oh yeah my highlight song woulda been.. umm.. pass the mic. MCA is a fine wine.. never seen some1 mc as good as that guy. much respect.

Just a thought, imagine open letter to NYC being played to a sold out madison square gardens..... i mean that would go off.

Without doubt THE !!!! BEST night of my life, that was the first beastie show i been too and i have never been so hyped up ever. I dont think im gonna sleep tonight, who else went, I was like 1 of about 7 or 8 people that dressed to impress, didnt see too many costumes, but who cares that concert went off, anyone see me, short guy, with mcdonalds hat sideways, every now and then white sunnies on, I saw 2 chicks that dressed to impress one had the adidas suit going and one had the glasses going haha, best show ever, WOO  ;)

laurie_hammy
02-02-2005, 08:43 AM
oh forget to mention the shirt I had on, it was a blank white shirt but it had beastie boys in the colours of the suits from Alive, and then song names all over the shirt with a flouro green underline, by the way I was SO happy when they played Alive that was exactly what I wanted to hear them play and I hadn't seen it played on the song lists of any other concert so i was happy  goodnight yalllllll haha

Not my first beastie show (my third) but I have to agree. Best live event ever. Missed the support too. Maybe it was the lack of agro in the crowd, maybe it was the uniforms, maybe the intros and video-interludes, or the band pontoon which looked like it shoulda been floating down the Mississippi... whatever - they played very, very tight and Something's Gotta Give was nigh-on perfect.

Oh, plus the dropping some old-skool gems. Props to all involved especially the hometown crew. :D

(Laurie - Alive was wicked, new skool gems were just as quality for the frrrrrrrrrrresssssshness)

Glad everyone had a good time. The venue's owner is an asshole, but apart from that I had a good time too. We'll be posting pictures and so on shortly in the Tour Blog.

indeed! it was funny as. who made it? and was it inspired by knuckles :D

PS. wierd thing at the bigday out was during the intro i couldn't see only hear so i didn't know what was really going on, i asked the dude beside me and he's like john saffrons playn against MMM and i was like wtf  i don't think you look like john saffron at all.

The mission impossible intro was funny as, mmm could not be hit by the bullets hahahaha. Also a part of the show that stood out for me was when Mike D said put ya fingers up and count 1,2,3 and say FRESHHHHHHH, and the whole crowd held it then went ATIA !!!!!!! That was awsome hahaha. So many little stand out parts exactly like that. I think Intergelactic was pretty cool how they just popped up on the other side of the stage, and MCA nearly fell off the roof when trying to rap up there haha. Also sabotage right at the end where it goes "listen all of yall its a sabotage" that just finished the show with a bang, IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII CAAANT STAAAND IT, I KNOW "YOU" PLANNED IT :D WOO I hope they come back within the next year or 2, that would be a dream come true ;) (y)

yarg! it was so worth dressing up! we got a shout out from horovitz, and before intergalactic when they go around the back, he stopped for a sec to say hey to us! yah! i grabbed him by the arm and pres had to drag me away!

Yeah, he fell over and almost off the stage thing, but a guy from the crowd who had climbed up the side helped him get his balance - then security told him to get down.

Miramanee: The intro had MMM's face pasted over tom cruise climbing up the side of a mountain from mission impossible, then he snuck into the beastie boys room and they were all sitting around drinking and smoking crack. MMM started shooting and then he got his record and escaped. Yauch followed him and shot back, but MMM killed him.

It was the funniest shit.

It was my first time seeing the b-boys (I can't remember what stopped me seeing the Hello Nasty tour) and man was it worth the wait!! My personal highlight.... umm... Pass the Mic? No, Gratitude... NO 3MC's and 1 DJ... it's so hard to choose!

I compromised them at the BDO to get right in the thick of it for the Chemical Brothers... Now I've seen them both right from the front- worked like a charm!

The only downer for the evening: the short jerk in a blue T taking a wizz on the floor through the front barricade straight after the show. No class. None at all.

The Pres described it well. They really need to put it on here!

It was the best intro I've seen. What was hilarious about the Mission Impossible stuff in the beginning was the way they pasted MMM's head on Tom Cruise's body. It was low tech and that made it all the funnier. When Tom Cruise would turn his head to look at the rock, they pasted the back of MMM's head too. Fabulous!

And MMM did a brilliant job of TV cop show style barging in the dressing room. I couldn't hear what was said in the dressing room over the roar of the crowd. I couldn't tell who he gunned down, but excellent fall from Yauch, I guess.

I'll put the rest in the blog.

I wonder what the inspiration was for this? Are they going to do something with Minton and TPK before the last Australian show?

I did the same - which might be sacriligeous to some - but yeah it was worth it. and i had the first time feeling at Festival Hall (tho I had already caught the band pontoon thing at BDO). fun fun fun.

Me and my mates had a farking great time! Our first Beastie Boys Concert! It was the best bloody farking concert we've been to! It will be awesome if they come back in a couple of years! Otherwise we'll wait, we're only 17-18! :)
Thanks for coming to Melbourne! (y)

THE GREATEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!!! well week i flew down for the show and was meant to see the streets on the tues but was having dinner at a friends restuarant and who happened to walk in mut Mike-D and Yauch! i nearly poo pooed! and im really sorry for coming up but i just wouldnt have been able to cope if i didnt and u guys were in the line up so i thought it was the most unintrusive time! i am heaps sorry if it bothered you!

Then there was the show! got to the hall at 6 and was first at my door (5 with the free tibet shirt on) and met this sweet dude!! front row for the gig and it was really the greatest gig ive been to in my life (tacky but true) and money mark gave me a spliff at the end and alfredo gave me a sweat towel (and wore my sunnies which would be sic to see on the blog if there still around :p )

Thanks so much for the most amaazing memorable hoilday!! I can not describe how wicked the week was!

what???? so you can see the chemical brothers? at the sydney BDO we were lucky enough that the two didn't clash so I got to see both - but I left the chemical brothers after about 30 mins (and I seriously LOVE the chemical brothers). They seemed pretty flat after the first few tracks. The beastie boys were SO much better.

Jamie mentioned that you all were kickin' around an idea.

Then we all sat around trying to come up with an opening for the show. Sometimes it takes many false starts before we hit upon something. TPK and Minton got roped into the festivities. First we tried to get them to use their computer skills for one idea that didn't go anywhere (but we might bring it back for a future gig, so I won't say anything about it.)

I'd just like to say once again, that it was the best night of my life. Then when I got home I was like fully sad, like close to crying and im a guy. I was so sad it was all over I was like "probably wont see them for another 3-4years :( ", and I was thinking to myself "dam I would do anything to go to the Adelaide or Perth shows. (!)

People were screaming it with passion around me in both Sydney and Melbourne sideshows with the video of NYC on the screen and it made me feel strange. But it's also been strange to watch a little TV and see that everything the US federal government does is so closely monitored over here--I learned more than I would have from news at home.

But the reaction to Open Letter was INSANE in NYC at Madison Square Garden. All 20,000 in the crowd had hands up and screaming along and it was really emotional. And this was before the video was released. It was something to not be a New Yorker and look back and up at all those people.

simple - we sing it loud cause it's a great track! I've actually always wondered how on earth 'Land Down Under' by Men At Work managed to get the number 1 chart spot in the US back in the early 80's

Okay, the success of Men at Work always mystified me! I can only say that we didn't have very many imaginative videos on MTV at the time and they looked so weird with the guy with the funny eyes and all. There would be these little magazine articles explaining what Vegemite was.

I used to like Midnight Oil and that got me reading about your native population.

Once when I was camping with friends in Northern Minnesota, all we got was some strange local radio station and they happened to be playing all this Australian music. This was like 20 years ago. And it was all of the crappiest hits you ever exported, but it funny at the time.

And I'm sorry again, but can anyone tell me what "Kylie" is at the music center in Melbourne? I know WHO she is, but it appears to be an exhibit rather than a concert. I have a million questions like this but I know it's not appropriate here.

The Kylie exhibition is all the outfits she's worn in her film clips and stage productions and stuff. i saw the big banner for it when i was going past on the tram the other day. its a bit 'meh' really.

The Chemical Bros. are the two luckiest guys in the business. They stand behind the computers with the whole light and sound show going on and then once in a while one of them raises his hand and the crowd cheers.
