As soon as Powderfinger finished their set the chants began; "Beatsie Boys, Beatsie Boys". Myself, I had spent Powderfinger's set watching the Blue stage being converted into the Beastie Audio/Visual battlestation, so my patience was at its absolute limit(got lots of strange looks for impatiently checking my watch, a sin during a Powderfinger slot) by the time the intro kicked in.

Aparently MMM was bitten by an infected Gorilla which led him to shoot the other bands on the bill: Slipknot, System of a down, Blues Explosion. The gun violence was all very tongue-in-cheek, and the cure was given to MMM once the Donnas caught him in a snare-trap.

The turntablism part of the intro was what you'd expect from the man, similar to what you heard at your show, but tweaked in parts. Purple Haze got a great reception!

And then with the crowd primed, No Sleep till Brooklyn opened shit up. And it was as good as it ever was, really pleased I got to hear it live. I think the setlist from memory was No Sleep, Sure shot, Root down, Triple trouble, Pass the Mic(happy to hear that as well!), Super Disco Breakin, Shake your rump, MMM interlude, Sabrosa, Lighten up, Somethings gotta give, Open Letter,Body Movin, RRNN, So watcha want, 3 M.C's, Ch-check it out, Intergalactic, Gratitude and Sabotage.

The group were tight! Every move really has been thought of, and it was clear from the time the stage was being put together to the performance itself that nothing is left to chance, and it helped the group keep the attention of the younger crowd, each song more like its own performance itself than part of a concert. The Video screens were one of the highlights for me, I stood towards the rear of the D section in front of the stage, and was impressed at how each hip-hop track was like a new version of it's own video(if that makes sense),SWW had some alternate thermal footage from '92, Root Down with all that old NY footage. It was noice. I also get the feeling that the flute sample in Pass The Mic was being played forwards  . Serj Tanakian dancing around on stage during SWW was a real nice touch!

The Intergalactic performance between the D barricades(Two barriers forming a walkway between the pit and the rest of the crowd) was well received, a couple of peeps were disappointed they didn't get to hear FFYR, but these guys were just mad they spent all that money getting liquored and had less chance of pulling than when they walked in. A couple of moments tested the drunk crowd, a few people calling for the Boys to "Shut up and Play a Song". It's cool though, they say the same shit to their teachers. The Boys were funny. D told the crowd we were well groomed and loved our mothers. Yauch's terminator fuzz got mad love, and Sabotage made those people jump.

Thanks for coming to Perth yo, we know you didn't have to, and thanks for making another album. I'm gonna peace myself out of this place for a long time now, I'll keep on looking in to check on that DVD and the next album :D .
I'd be happy to call that my last ever Beasties show, but I hope it's not.
You all did fucking amazingly last night, it means a lot to the fans.
Peace.

Hey all!! I been reading this forum for a while but never posted, but after last nights performance I just had to say how awesome it was! Managed to get a seat on the inside of the D barricade, had perfect view, got some wicked pics and video... very very cooool!

Anyway to anyone else was there hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Apart from a few losers trying to jump over my head and one guy yelling out behind me whining 'bring back the boys' when they were doing instrumentals... to which I replied 'who do you think that is on stage!?' - the idiot didnt realise they WERE the beastie boys - I saw the best live act I think I've prob ever seen. And to the guy I saw in the fluffy orange suit - respect!

Great work with the tour blog too guys! Just soo happy right, right now :)

RE: Badmeaninggood

Not the only one waiting for Powderfinger to end. Last night I was reborn, led to the light by the tight awesome show put on by the Boys. Had very sweet dreams after the show.

Thanks for all the energy - you just keep getting better!

i was surprised how many people were so into them with the shirts and all. i didnt see many people with beasties shirts around, i got the grey girls one yesterday its fucking sweet. yeh i saw a few chicks come out of SOAD crying and shit, scary. i feel sorry that some kids get hurt trying to see their fave band and ruin the experience.
i wonder if i saw you.. i met a kid who was so into the boys and he said he was gonna dress in a furry siut was that you? this guy next to me kept getting me to pull up his pants during beasties, i didnt want to cos he was tryin to push in but i was like, well i dont really want your dick on me so i guess.

i didnt see hilltops i wanted to see what slipknot were all about around that time.

:D Who played the gorilla?
mike d asked if i felt like playing a gorilla beating up mix master mike and so i joined in. it was wicked funny 'cause no one gave me directions on exactly how to bite and jump on mix master so i ended up physically hurting him and climbing on top of him. but it was all good and we all just thought it was funny. plus a lot of that footage ended up in the final cut.

a blog entry will be up in a few hours i think. it all depends on when jamie gets around to it.

i did, bruh!!
cept it was an A4 piece of shit and the "tzar" was written with a pen.
like i said i was front-row, umm i held it head-height (people were telling me to drop it including security) near the start of the concert. i saw you and minton and i put it up when minton pointed his camera. but another way you could've recognised me was when i was holding my white t-shirt up.

maybe, who knows.

edit: i wanna know who the asian press media dude was who took the photo of me. he pointed the camera right in my face and snapped away. any of you admins know who his ass was?

mmm nah that wasn't me in a fluffy top. i had a gay P.O.S red truckers hat on and two beasties tops on
i was dumb-founded by slipknot... i didn't go anywhere near the crowd but i kinda watched 'em whilst waiting for SOAD. their crowd was massive. easily the biggest crowd of the day.

There was a full gorilla outfit used for the video. It was rented for a few hours once it was decided that the intro would feature a mad gorilla though, so the outfit wasn't on tour.

Tzar - I don't think I saw you. I was up on stage on the lefthand side. I got a few photos of the crowd, you might be in one of those once we get the blog updated for Perth.

Oh WOW, I was so happy to see the beasties, it definately filled the hunger gap in my tummy, from being starved of such fine artists.
I was in the main crowd barricade, but toward the rear and couldn't actually see the guys, because I am too short. I sat on my boyfriends shoulders a couple of times. So I spent most of the show just dancing down the back, when low and behold, the Beasties crept up behind me inbetween the barricades, I was shocked and delighted all at once. Left many smiles that did. The Beastie Boys ROCK. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!
