hope this hasn't been done yet ...

but what do yall think of the new daft album ?

think it is yet another disappointment after Discovery :' (

"steam machine" must be their weakest track so far, most of this album could be on Discovery, i think, so not that innnovating as i hoped (expected?) it to be.

your opinion?

I like the name of the album. I heard it wasn't that good.

Listening to it now

has a more industrial-electro sound to it, yet the tracks they lay off that style are awesome (Make Love)

I love homework and discovery. So i'll probably enjoy this.

I've heard 'robot rock'.

...

I guess you can't get any better than Discovery.

yes you can, it is called Homework ; )

meh, "robot rock" is even better than most on discovery, stupid vocals ruined it for me

Discovery was some great shit. I liked it even more than Homework. Their movie with Leiji Matsumoto was great too!

What makes Homework better than Discovery? I always find myself skipping through tracks on Homework, something I never do with Discovery

I don't know, tecno nerds seem to like it more. I definantly feel Discovery so much more. I wonder what an MC would sound like over their beats.

Señor Stino

i'm not a "techno nerd" , and still find Homework way better, it was new, fresh and innovating, had the right rythems, beats and flow

discovery has some nice tracks , like shortcut or maybe aerodynamic, but the crappy vocals on tracks like "one more time" made it sound so poppy and soft to me, i did not like it

difference is, you can make a better party on Homework :-)

Homework is better than Discovery. However this is better than Discovery and worse than Homework. WHEREAS THIS IS THE SECOND BEST ALBUM THEY'VE PUT OUT. THEREFORE IT RULES.

Also, techno nerds tend to dislike daft punk because they're "sellouts" and will namedrop people like ESP or Frankie Bones.

I hate Romanthony with a passion. Cha-mon!

When I hear the retail release I'll shoot all opinions down swiftly.

The Notorious LOL
02-19-2005, 11:10 PM
yeah hard to judge. The promo version of "Discovery" was better than the retail. We'll see how different the store version is.

I was in no way prepared for the breakdown in Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. I don't think the world as we knew it was. If memory serves me correctly you said Short Circuit sounded like Castlevania. I wholeheartedly agreed. It's a shame how everyone else's opinion sucks in this thread.

KLF 4 evar. Moo-moo!

God damn right. I bought the cd and that whole change in pitch sing songy shit drove me insane. Wasnt Romanthony on that booty ass Daft Club cd?

It reminded me specifically of Castlevania II: Simons Quest for some reason.

He did the One More Time unplugged version or some shit. I've wanted to see if-ah he had an MB-ah or something so I could clown him-ah and his-ah way of singing-ah and piss his fans off. Not worth the trouble.

This elaborately sums up (http://pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/d/daft-punk/daft-club.shtml) what I think of the Daft Club cd. It's like he's in my head and feeding off of my sometimes fabricated internet rage!

my point exactly

Its funny though becuase he sounds like HHH at some points. But the singing isn't even the important part, so its not that big of a deal for me.

Okay, so I guess I was wrong... AFTER ALL.

This is so disappointing although there are a few good songs on the album.

I'll be the judge of that after I buy it in a few days.

J-Syxx

Yea, you guys are wrong, this album is by far the shit. I also think this is great b-boy music. Its like a contemporary Mantronix.

ET

I like half the album but it's like I know they can do better.

Robot Rock samples the shit out of Breakwater - Release The Beast. It's so blatantly uninspired it grosses me out.

Steam Machine sounds like a 10 story robot stomping the shit out of Tokyo via well choreographed b-boy moves. I don't know how that can possibly be bad.

J-Syxx

Sorry, I love Robot Rock. That sample is ridiculous. I love blaring that shit out of my car.

I finally filnally got this the other day. i'm not disapointed. i always loved Robot Rock yet only found out it was done by them the other the day. i'm tossing up whether this or Face to Face is my fav song. it's a great sounding album and thank fuck it's not sounding identical to homework or discovery.

Homework is better than Discovery. However this is better than Discovery and worse than Homework.

agreed

i've always liked daft punk, always though they're pretty good and one of the only bands left that i'm willing to go out and buy the cd. they do get a bad rep tho coz of their retarded fans who go on about how they're gods or write on any discovery film clip on youtube how Interstella 5555 is the best movie eva! or some other stupid comment that makes it sound like they're on daft punks robot dicks. i hate cunts like that. yeah they're great, just dont fucking go on about it!

I saw them at the end of Oct. If the crowd wasn't so douchey it would have been a great show.

I too saw them, but up in Toronto. I knew that the majority of people who listen to them are lame, but seriously, nothing could have prepared me for that.
