i fell in love with Chicago too. Didn't think I would, being a jaded New Yorker and all.

Where did you go? What did you see? Where did you stay?

Nice pics.

here's my roommate nicole and i, along with the nice man who helped us figure out the el train. he was being so fatherly to us that i wanted to give him a big hug.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v68/vernacularrr/P2180011.jpg

i dunno if he realized that he was gonna be in that picture too. heheh

here's a group photo of all the roommates (except for one)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v68/vernacularrr/P2180012.jpg

we have lots more photos but that's all i show for now

oh, and we ate at gino's east and some place called dublin's
they were both delicious

and we went to some bar called "the apartment"
it was alright. i think my roommate's liked it more than i did.

all in all, it was a great trip.

we rode the el a lot
we saw lots of pigeons and homeless people

and we stayed at the ramada near o'hare

and our shuttle bus driver said to us "them niggas, they gonna come up to you, you rip them numba's up and you go party!" and then he turned the radio up real loud cause shake it like a salt shaker was on and i think he thought we were gonna get up and dance for him. he made me laugh a lot

here are some Chicago shots from the last time i went. i have eleventeen million more but i will spare you from a boring 'that's me straddling a fire hydrant' slide show:

it was spring. there were tulips all up and down Michigan Ave
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/tinabeen/133-3308_IMG.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/tinabeen/131-3189_IMG.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/tinabeen/131-3162_IMG.jpg

gorgeous stained glass windows at some little exhibit thing in navy pier. gotta love Mucha
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/tinabeen/132-3285_IMG.jpg

we spent ALOT of time at the Apple store. our hotel was half a block away. we usually stay at the Radisson on Huron
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/tinabeen/133-3309_IMG.jpg

the water tower at night all tuliped out
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/tinabeen/132-3243_IMG.jpg

this place.....is....the BEST. the tempo cafe. you will never have a better grilled chicken caesar salad in your life. not sure what street it's on but i know how to get there from the hotel.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/tinabeen/131-3200_IMG.jpg

Spring and summer are the absolute best times to be here!!!

*Sigh* That sounds great. I went last February, and, being from Canada, I expected it to be a tropical paradise in comparison to our climate. I was warned otherwise, but I just thought that the Chicago natives were a bunch of pussies. Wow, was I wrong. It was warmer and more pleasant back in Canada when I got back! I'd love to go again in summer, though. But I'd prefer to go to NYC...

Those tulip shots are beautiful. Spring is always my favorite time of year.

Tulla!
Glad to hear and see that you had a good time...the apartment is kind of lame...lots of yuppies...but typical for that part of town...the art institue rocks...lots of goodies there...but you have to come back in the summer...nothing like summer nights in the city....

I am. Just not at the moment.

Nice pictures, Tulla. Same with the been's. But Jabumbo, your photo skills could use some serious work. Nah, just kidding. Just kidding -- I'm not kidding. Ok, I am kidding.

Or am I?

Yo, that's right by my house. My apologies if you heard my wife screaming at me Saturday night.
Next time your in the city call the RTA at 312-836-7000 for any mass transit info.
I hope you had a chance to ride the wackjob express that is the Red Line, always a trip.

Great photos by all.

riding the red line was one of my favorite things about the trip
except for that one time when there was a homeless man who smelled like shit and vomit. we had to leave immediately and move to the next train section thingy.

It sounds like a nice time. I was in Chicago too this weekend for beastiegirrl's birthday party. I love that city. She had it at Nacional 27, an awesome salsa lounge/resturant/danceclub. Wow, the people there sure know how to dance!!! The mohito's were excellant too. I think that out of all the cities I have been to, chicago is one of my all time fav's

But what is up with the new Soldier Field? It looks like a spacecraft just fell from the sky and landed on the beautiful roman style architecture. I liked the old one better :(

agreed....and it's smaller now...I went for a game last season and we had nose bleed seats...it was so steep up there you felt like you were going to fall off. Chicago is an awesome city..DUB...you have to come back when the weather is warmer...

I used to go to school in River Forest. My best friend and former roommate still goes to school there, and last year on her birthday, a friend of hers was waiting to get on the Red Line, and he fell on the tracks and died. Craziness.

Or was it the Blue Line? Fuck.

Concordia.

Is that Magglio in your picture? :(

Could be Jose, too. Or Aaron Rowand. In any case, fuck off for being in close enough proximity to attend White Sox games. I hate you. :(

Hopefully he didn't spend too much, cause that shit's totally gonna get jacked if he leaves his car unattended in Detroit.
