I heard on Sirius that Syria seriously has to go.Californian, dude? Ex-cellent!

Did you see the Hezbollah demonstration on Tuesday? Lots and lots and lots of angry people. Way bigger crowd than the Anti-Syria demonstrators the day before.
The demonstration came hours before Syria began redeploying its troops within Lebanon to an area closer to the two countries' border. President Bush, who rejects this as a half-step, said Tuesday that "freedom will prevail in Lebanon" and demanded that Syria withdraw completely.GW throwing rocks at hornets' nests. Are US forces going to step in and stop the Shiites kicking seven levels of crap out of evrybody as soon as Syria withdraws?

I wonder how gung-ho GW would be if HE had to go and sort out all the trouble his words produce, personally, wearing one of Don's non-existant flack jackets.

about time syria got out of lebenon but the us should also get out of iraquAnd who, do you propose, replace Syria in Lebanon?

Israel? (http://www.chomsky.info/articles/19960423.htm)
Lebanon has been a victim of the Arab-Israel conflict for half a century. In 1948, and again in 1967, it was a dumping ground for Palestinians who fled or were expelled by the Israeli army. Their right to return or compensation is written into the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Dec. 10, 1948), spelled out more explicitly in UN Resolution 194 passed unanimously the next day, and reiterated annually.
That right, of course, is conditional on U.S. decisions. Since World War II, the U.S. has controlled the region, recognizing it to be "a stupendous source of strategic power, and one of the greatest material prizes in world history."
