Madonna vs. Janet Jackson: I'm giving it to Janet
Dean Martin vs. Frank Sinatra: Dean
Nsync vs. Backstreet Boys: who cares?
Joni Mitchell vs. Emmylou Harris: tie
I had a bunch of these earlier--trying to get people who made records in the same era and genre. Help me out.

-Neither, but possibly Madonna if I had to choose
-Frank Sinatra. Nothing compares, plain and simple
-Neither, but Timberlake's solo career has its moments
-I need to be more familiar with Joni Mitchell and Emmylou Harris, but from what I know... Emmylou.

Dean Martin vs. Frank Sinatra: Sinatra because I think Dean Martin is... um no wait I don't think
Nsync vs. Backstreet Boys: they are both GAYER than the white stripes AND jet combined
Joni Mitchell vs. Emmylou Harris: err is there another one of those generational things going on here?

I agree with Janet Jackson over Madonna...that was a close one though, vocally.
debbie gibson or tiffany? Debbie Gibson...she has the advantage in that she plays piano and composes, plus I always thought Tiffany's voice kind of sucked.
brady bunch or the partridge family? Partridge Family, because I get those damn songs stuck in my head like you wouldn't believe!
vanilla ice or snow? Vanilla Ice. Informer is enough of a reason for that choice.
tori amos or fiona apple? Tori HANDS DOWN. She's just way more talented vocally and worlds beyond Fiona as a pianist. I am sort of biased though, being a huge fan of hers. (Just saw her live for the 5th time a couple weeks ago, she is so amazing!!!)
usher or justin timberlake? Tough one. I'll have to go with JT, only because Usher always seems to me to be oozing egotism and that is just annoying.
britney or christina? I'll have to go with Christina because she could get by on her voice alone (if she so chose), whereas we all know Britney wouldn't be successful if it was just a talent thing.
Here are some others:
Sarah McLachlan or Sheryl Crow
Pearl Jam or Soundgarden
Whitney Houston or Gloria Estefan
The Go Gos or the Bangles
Jurassic 5 or A Tribe Called Quest

debbie gibson or tiffany?
Tiffany, I guess.
the osmands or jackson five?
A-B-C! It's easy as 1-2-3! So yeah, Jackson 5
brady bunch or the partridge family?
How about I barf first?
vanilla ice or snow? (a licky boom boom down) :D
Vanilla. Those shots of his hair inspired a whole generation.
tori amos or fiona apple?
Not really familiar with either of their work, but Fiona. She's like the hottest neurotic girl.
usher or justin timberlake?
Timberlake. He can actually throw down some decent songs.
moby or fatboyslim?
Love 'em both, but Moby wins by miles!
yoyo ma or joshua bell?
Yo-Yo-Ma! ;)
britney or christina?
Christina... she's so dirrty. Plus I don't mind her song "Beautiful".
lindsey or hilary?
Lindsay Lohan is a total bitch, but hot as hell. Hilary wins some sympathy for Linday being too psycho towards her. Draw.

Sarah McLachlan or Sheryl Crow
Pearl Jam or Soundgarden
Whitney Houston or Gloria Estefan
The Go Gos or the Bangles
Jurassic 5 or A Tribe Called Quest
Sheryl Crow. Sarah McLachlan is far too prissy.
Pearl Jam. They are amazing. Soundgarden was good too, but Eddie Vedder owns.
Whitney or Gloria? Who cares.
The Go-Gos. They got the beat. :)
Jurassic 5. Tribe did some great stuff, but I find J5 more inspirational.

No reason for me to post. :) I think Tori is a nut, but she's great. Last time I saw her in concert, she stopped and bitched nicely at the technician because she said her piano sounded bad. Like anyone but her could tell.
Sarah McLachlan or Sheryl Crow - I would have said Sheryl before she started dating Lance Armstrong.
Pearl Jam or Soundgarden - Pearl Jam
Whitney Houston or Gloria Estefan - Whitney. I will never forgive Gloria for the early videos. I know Whitney's weren't much better, but ever so slightly.
The Go Gos or the Bangles - Go Gos because I played their first record till it wore out!

jeez. have you ever actually listened to Sarah McLachlan? Sheryl Crow is a skankenstein and a half. look at her. she's ridiculous. her songs are so whitewashed and bland. i haven't listened to Sarah in years, but her very early albums were incredible. She's an artist. Sheryl Crow is a commodity.

I'm not a Sheryl Crow fan, but I'll take her over Sarah anytime. Sarah is BO-RING. "I Will Remember You"? I'd rather forget that I've heard that song played a billion times. (n)

That opinion is temporary. I've got just one Tribe album, and I've got two J5 albums.
I'll get back to you when I hear more, okay?
EDIT - Regarding Sarah and Sheryl. My Dad is a huge fan of both of them, so I've been forced to hear lots of stuff by them. Sheryl can have a good time. Sarah makes me want to slit my wrists. That's that.

I couldn't have put it better myself.
Sheryl has one song that I really like (Strong Enough), and the rest of them (Soak up the Sun in particular) annoy the crap out of me.
I can understand some people not really digging Sarah that much if they've only heard her radio singles. I Will Remember You and Adia are songs that I don't really like and got so overplayed. Fumbling Toward Ecstasy was an amazing album though, and Surfacing has some great moments too. She is a really amazing singer, and also a good lyricist. Sheryl Crow's voice can just grate right through to my last nerve sometimes.
