That's context driven. If I ran into them on the street, then not just for the Beasties, but for any celebrity, I would do nothing. I think I might--just out of reflex--do a double-take, but I wouldn't approach them or talk to them or look again. If the context is a concert or concert-related event, then I'd probably still not approach them but I'd probably watch. "I like to watch."

Well, I did meet some of them backstage at the Wembley, London show in Dec! Mix Master Mike & my first words were: "Its such as honor to meet you sir" Alfredo the same!!! he is such a cool guy, MCA stood next to me, so again I said: "Adam" "Its an honor to meet you sir" & we shook hands & a brief chat!!! it's hard, because for years you think about a moment like this, but when it's reality its totally different!! oh & Mike D stood right behind me too, but he had a quick chat with MMM & Alfredo & was off like a light!!! :D

okay, this thread actually made me think about how tough it must be for them. i mean whenever they meet someone it might one of the most important or at least influential moments in that person's life. that must be a lot of pressure. i mean, you can't be on and humble every moment. but if i met them, i of course have a whole thing planned out in my head that i would say. but i would end up just umming and smiling and trying hard not to faint. yeah, i'm a girl through and through.

In another thread, someone posted about how he approached the boys a month or so ago at a diner and one of them maybe seemed irked. I remember cringeing a little over that. I wouldn't want to be approached while I was just being in my life, doing non-fan types of things. Out of respect for the possibility that they might not want attention right at that minute, I wouldn't do anything. I think if they're doing a promotion and they're being the Beastie Boys, that's one thing, although I probably still wouldn't approach them, go backstage, or (!) wait by the exit door. If they're just living their lives, I would just let them be.

BTW, someone mentioned autographs--I don't get the appeal of them. I don't have any and have never wanted one. With all the people that sell them on ebay, they seem even more inconsequential now. What do people do with them I wonder. Just sort of gaze? Hmmm.

For me getting autographs is always an excuse to get to talk to anyone, cause I'm usually quite shy and I use it as a breaker. I really don't understand the idea of buying autographs. Maybe if the person was dead and you don't have a chance to meet him/her then you can be excused :rolleyes:
