Hello people,

Chateauneuf-du-Pape (generally spelled as all one word, it means "the Pope's new castle", which isn't all that new anymore as it was built in the 14th century but hey whatever) is a small(ish) village and wine producing region within the Rhone region, about an hour north of Avignon. It is mostly known for its red wines, but there are a small number of whites produced there. However if I was going to go for a French white, it wouldn't be my first choice, the reds of that region are really where it's at.

Nice! I have a thing for German whites thanks to Charles Bukowski, and California whites, well, "thank you for your wine, California, thank you for your sweet and bitter fruits." However I always tend to the patriotic side in me, historically anyway and buy Rioja wines like Marques de Riscal from Rueda, Spain....hell,I consider Freixenet to be champagne!

"Your Beastie Boy Menu" thread on page 6 of GBBD was fun and funny! I'd post the link, but don't know how.
